Ohio Planned Parenthood Hosts ‘Condom Couture’ Fashion Show…With Students

Ohio Planned Parenthood Hosts Condom Couture Fashion Show

To educate the community on STD prevention, raise funds for the organization, and offer scholarships for aspiring fashion designers, Planned Parenthood of Central Ohio (PPCO) started a particularly unorthodox fashion show. In 2008, PPCO created the “Condom Couture Fashion Show” exclusively featuring garments made entirely out of condoms. And if that’s not enough to startle you, consider that it involves students.

Ohio Planned Parenthood Hosts Condom Couture Fashion Show

The third annual event is set for October 19 in Columbus, OH. The event website encourages area students to attend to “compete to win cash prizes, all in the name of fun, fashion and health.” How do they compete? According to the group’s site, the students actually design the outfits and “community leaders” model them:

There are four tiers of tickets ranging from $45-$500.

In April, a University of Texas student group put on a similar condom fashion show to raise awareness and money for HIV/AIDS. At the event in April, a UT professor said the event presents sexual health in a non-threatening manner.

Here’s video from the 2009 event:

Another reason to elect Ron Paul…………….kidding.

Seriously, the biggest problem I have is the sexualization of children. Stay vigilant on the sex-ed in schools. Planned Parenthood International works with UNESCO to promote it world-wide. Another reason to kick the UN out. According to them, masturbation (disguised as learning about areas of pleasure) should be taught at a kindergarten level.

Who knew there were so many colors. Dang back in the day they were cream color and that is all you got. I must admit some of the fashion’s were eye catching and the designers creative, but exactly why does this raise awareness for their cause? I think it glamorizes the message too much and the attention is taken away from the cause. We all know Liberals have no logic in their thought process, so this isn’t surprising.

This is part of the administration’s stimulus package. Surely these companies received gobs of money from the Fed( via PP or health and human services) for their contributions to obama.
Now that there has been an uptick in the sales of condoms the companies can file bankruptcy, pay all the high level management ‘golden parachute’ exit packages so that they may retire in the Cayman Isles.

@Steelhead, so that’s why “condom failure” is one of the most common reasons for abortion? Learn the truth. No “birth control” works 100%, and if the heat of the moment is an issue, well, avoid the moments. No one is forcing you to be alone with a person of the opposite sex, if you don’t think you have the self-control to avoid the moment, have the self-control to avoid the situation.

“Abstinence alone doesn’t work-it’s the heat of the moment and stuff like primal urges that make it fail. ”

Steelhead, the point you just mad is exactly why abstinence only is the ONLY one that truly works. The “heat of the moment” works against condom usage because many children don’t think to use them when it gets hot and heavy. They don’t want to stop to put one one. it takes a level head to think about safety, and that is exactly NOT what the head is when the blood rushes to the little brain below. The only thing that works during that condition is FEAR. Children used to be afraid of getting pregnant. But the concept of “safe sex” has taught them to ignore such fears. Now they no longer are afraid of pregnancy, so they are emboldened to have sex thinking that they will protect themselves, but the intelligent brain that is supposed to remember to put on the protection gets shut off during passion.

I can tell you from personal experience that not allowing for contraception kept me from having sex with my fiance. In the heat of many moments many sexual boundaries fell away, but the absense of a condom (because I diidn‘t and don’t believe in them) kept the fear of pregnancy alive in me so that we never went “all the way”. Very simple human psychology.

Abstinence education does not work. http://awesomescreenshot.com/026lvkv71 if it did America’s birthrates, abortion rates and STD rates would be LOWER then those of countries who have mixed education. Our birth rate is nearly double that of the next highest country. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_pregnancy has rates from 1996. To pretend not fully developed brains with raging hormones won’t have sex is just fantasy.

STD rates and abortion rates say NOTHING as to whether abstinence works or not!!!
It says EVERYTHING about the OBSESSION that our culture has with sex. Unhealthy sex relationships are paraded around and lauded about in the media. You can’t watch a TV program or movie without all sorts of references to sex – with this kind of “sex education” of course abstinence “doesn’t work”. You can’t constantly feed kids with TRASH and expect no TRASH to come out. The STD and abortion rates are all about sex culture – and the absence of abstinence!
