Ohio Republican Makes Wild Plea to Be Nominee for County Treasurer

Meet Phil Davison. He’s a councilmen in Minerva, Ohio. But his sights are set oh-so-much higher.  Never has the nomination to be a candidate for Stark County Treasurer mattered more to any individual. Never.

Thanks to Gawker for quickly re-posting the video after it went private on YouTube.

Time has done a nice analysis of some of Davison’s best lines and what Hollywood actor might deliver them best. Including:

“Politics is not touch football. Politics is winner-take-all. It always has been, and it always will be!”
The scoffing in this sentence could be perfectly delivered by a Glengarry-era Alec Baldin.
“Knowledge is power. [...] Let’s use this knowledge not only as a tool — but as a weapon!”
This part is so off-kilter that only Christopher Walken could do it justice.
FYI — Davison did NOT get the nomination.

uh, this guy scares the squat out of me and if i were there i would have inched my way slowly to the closest exit before he pulled off his jacket to show a vest of dynamite. at first i was expecting him to break down crying but as he got going he got angrier and angrier and that ain’t a good sign. wow…

That’s exactly what I was thinking! It would have been so scary to have been there in that room. County Treasurer must be a much bigger deal there than it is here.

After extensive investigation, it has been learned from sources who wish to remain unidentified, that this man not only did NOT win the republican nomination, but he was drafted by the democrats to run for their party after reviewing his academic achievements and finding that he fit their definition of a whining wannabe elected official….

For the record: As Phil’s campaign manager, I had asked him to Pee before his presentation and not consume the dangerous drugs until after this practice session with the kids. Though it looked as if it was in a government meeting room,it was just a practice, run thru in front of his kids in his living room. We had just turned off the Simpson‘s in Phil’s Living room where Phil’s 8 kids (ages3-9) were previewing his presenttion. We weren’t aware his oldest daughter was filming. Billy his 5 yr old security director has been relieved of his duties for the oversight.

It is nice to know we have consistently great citizens representing us from a county treasurer in Ohio to POTUS.

This is hilarious! Made my day.

He’s a fantastic mix of a college basketball coach during the Final Four and a revival-era preacher.

    Mr. Davison FTW!

Matt Foley – motivational speaker. Exactly!

My favorite: “If nominated tonight, I can guarantee with 100% certainty that what you are seeing from me tonight is what everyone outside those doors is gonna get over the next 8 weeks.”

      Wonder why he wasn’t nominated?

GLENBECKISADEMAGOGUE…Man I’ve been through about 10 different topics on this site and you have been on them all ,so I can only assume that you comment on every topic .That suggest that it is either your job or you have a real pathetic life. Try and get outdoors some ,get some sun ,ride a bike, meet someone of the opposite sex or whatever turns you on. eventually the hair on your palms will go away.

What is he on/off of? This is embarrassing. Did he get nominated(sarcasm)? I have to give the crowd credit for not getting up and just walking away but perhaps they just didn’t want to do anything to further unhinge him.

He has a lot of “minerva” to imitate Howard Dean…. I wonder who “really” put him up to this….
The best part is the audience stayed polite and actually clapped for him….
I have to share this, its almost as good as the Georgia rep that was worried about Guam tipping over….

This guy really needs to look up the meaning of “dispassionate plea”.

Oh and ratteling off a bunch of degrees does nothing but further indicate your inability to get a real job for most of your youth.
