Ohio Town Removes ‘Easter’ From Egg Hunt

We’re familiar with the “war on Christmas,” but what about the war on Easter? It looks like it’s starting.
An Ohio town has decided that the local East egg hunt is just too exclusive, and decided to rename this weekend’s seasonal event to “The Spring Egg Hunt.” Doesn’t quite have the same ring, does it?
The controversy in Munson Township centers around the event being sponsored by taxpayers. A private sponsor has come forward, however, and is now offering to foot the bill:
NBC17.com reports:
Still, township trustees are opting to call this year’s Easter weekend event “The Spring Egg Hunt.”
Dance choreographer Matt Martsolf works with kids every day and has a few of his own. His opinion about what to call this year’s egg hunt is shared with dance clients.
“Stop the headache. Just let the kids have their day,” Martsolf said.
“It’s traditionally been called an Easter egg hunt for years and years and people are little bit too touchy,” client Michelle Nelson said.
Munson homebuilder Enzo Perfetto is putting up the $600 to put the sponsorship in private hands and the Easter back in the egg hunt.
The decision to have the egg hunt privately sponsored is under review by the county prosecutor.

How does participating in a fertility rite (ie children hunting eggs) link with the resurrection of Christ? It’s not like they are trying to eliminate the true meaning of the Resurrection/Easter. Really though, what does looking for egg have to do with the resurection of Christ? Do we need to fight for the secular practices that took over the Christian religion anymore? Do Christians really need to make the focus of Christmas getting presents or going to parties? Do we really need to go to publix and get eggs to color so our kids can go find them? Teach your kids the true meaning of the season and let the secular aspects be in the far background. Let them take it, who cares?

The major holidays of Christianity have become comercialized. And not even with our own true traditions. This is why the liberals try everything they can to take over what is popular. Do you see Ramadan being taken over, Pass over, Chanaka (SP), ect? The parents can congragate after church just fine without making their kids go seach for colored eggs. Is this the only time anyone stays after church to talk? I know it is one of the most busiest days in the church, but it doesn’t need to be egged on with a secular practice.

I can see where you make your case and maybe in the past it was a viable holiday practice, but it has lost its luster to comercialism. This is not the same tradition it was when it started I can assure you of that.

That being the difference… if the activity is exclusionary I could see the ruckus. I CAN think of all the exclusionary practices of Muslims, not that I would even want to attend. This just another way for the progressive hate-mongers to forbid the public practices of OUR religion and cultures. Why don’t we hear La Raza weighing in on this issue? Because Christianity happens to be part of their culture also. Easter is a pagan holiday by earth worshipping tree huggers. It is a day of Spring worship where the pagan goddess of fertility is celebrated. Rabbits don’t lay eggs; look it up folks. The Mayflower Puritans would NEVER celebrate Easter. I do enjoy the chocolate bunny rabbits, though.

It really is all silly, isn’t it, Show? I remember Easter being a day of enjoyment–the families getting together, the girls in pretty dresses, and my mom making me wear a tie (yuck to that last). My family wasn’t all that religious, but it was a festive occasion.
Now it’s all political.

Same here. Mama always made my Easter dress, and she bought me a new hat to wear with it. I always wondered about “The Easter Parade” in the song — where was it?! I was in Sunday School EVERY Sunday, and Sunday School and church services, too, when I got older, and eventually sang in the choir. Mama was a VERY religious Episcopalian, while Daddy was simply a Christian who was brought up in the Baptist church.
I remember the Easter egg hunts, but that was something that children did for fun on the side while we were educated about the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
It’s ridiculous to change Easter Egg Hunt to Spring Egg Hunt. What are they going to do about the Easter Bunny?…or the Easter Basket?
Thank you for wearing a tie. I had to wear black patent-leather Mary Jane shoes, and socks with lace on them.

You need to know where you stand and read up on this topic of “Easter”. I don’t think that being a Christian is as much “fun” as being a Christian who practices pagan rituals, but you have to decide what’s important to God through Christ.

The other should just be for Christians and called the Easter Egg hunt. It’s ridiculous that people will tell other people what they can and cannot do. Hypocrites. If I lived in a Pagan society and the whole city wanted to have a summer solstice festival I would just not go. I wouldn’t be offended because this is America. I can’t believe Christians stand by and let these people do these things.

After this, the people who wished to become pregnant would get eggs and dip them into the blood and eat the eggs. They believed that this would cause them to become fertile and then pregnant. This is the beginning of what is commonly called “easter eggs”. It was added onto the celebration of the resurrection of Christ as a perversion. I know that some people will get upset and “throw a fit” over what I‘ve said right here but that’s is fine with me because how people react does not change the truth.

As for what do Easter Eggs (or eggs in general) have to do with the REAL meaning of EASTER?? Well since the EGGS are hidden on EASTER Sunday it would stand to call the hunt “Easter Egg Hunt”.. IF you have the same EGGS hidden on JULY 4TH it would be called a INDEPENDENCE DAY Egg Hunt.. However the symbol of the egg my guess would be rebirth..birth.. the beginning.. and SPRING which is when Easter is.. However after you cook the fetus (egg) that rebirth or birth thing might be rethought.. it’s just easier to hide COOKED eggs rather than RAW ones I would imagine.. I hear they once tried to hide baby chicks, ducks and rabbits (also a sign of spring and a beginning) but they had a hard time convincing them to stay hidden.. then again who wants their kids to find 10 chicks, bunnies or ducks and want to keep them..
