Ohio Woman Outraged by TSA Pat-Down: ‘She Sexually Assaulted Me’

An Ohio woman traveling with her infant son says a now-routine pat-down by a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screener went too far.
“She sexually assaulted me,” Erin Chase complained Wednesday of the intrusive search. “She needs to lose her job,” she said of the TSA employee.
Chase‘s complaint is just one of thousands pouring in from frustrated air passengers over the TSA’s recently implemented more stringent security checks. The pat-down she says she experienced at Ohio’s Dayton International Airport is part a lengthy hands-on search, But she says it felt like much more.
The TSA’s new “palms down” technique is leaving many passengers like Chase feeling very violated, comparing the security screening to being sexually “groped.”
“She went all the way up my legs, up my inner thighs, felt all along my inner thighs until she reached my genital area, touching both sides,” Chase told .
TSA officials have released a statement about Chase’s claims, saying “TSA personnel have been in contact with the passenger, are reviewing the alleged incident and will take appropriate action if necessary.”
While Chase’s complaint was relatively mild, other air passengers are not taking the new invasive procedures sitting down. In one reported incident, a TSA screener in Indianapolis was assaulted by one passenger Wednesday afternoon, punched in the chest after escorting the suspect through one of the new, controversial full-body “scatterback” scanners.
In a statement, TSA spokesman Greg Soule called violence against TSOs, “shameful.”
“Our transportation security officers work on the front lines to protect the nation from a terrorist attack and physical violence against them is shameful. TSA will work with local authorities to see that appropriate action is taken,” Soule said.

The airlines are just starting to make a few bucks. This is outrageous and where did the metal detectors and SNIFFING dogs go? How about they focus a bit more on PROFILING? 9.11 would still have happened, even if they had this in place. They didn’t even need box cutters.. they could have used razor blades in shaving kits. The TSA is behind the curve. Their focus now should be on CARGO that is carried on all airlines in the USA. Come on, they gave you a HUGE clue recently!

We let the remaining 20% or so dictate the ‘rules of engagement’. Well, sonny, that ain’t gonna happen any more. It is time that we put both the gov’t and those that have put our lives at risk (terrorists) in their place.
It is time to be creative though respectfull, while being forceful at the same time. Here is a suggestion – if you are in a TSA line, turn on your camera phone and record the agents in action. Last time I looked, there is no law or protocal against doing that. And if your travel partner is to be searched in another room, insist that you are present. If TSA says you can’t attend, drop your pants and bend over – tell them to kiss it, not inspect it…..

Posted on November 17, 2010 at 7:22pmNot sure who has had the chance to watch Beck’s program today (Nov 17th), but he had a great idea. Using trained ex-military personnel to do screening, just like El Al Airlines does it (Israeli). Used trained professionals to interact and interview passengers.
I’m not sure of what thier entire program looks like, but I would be receptive to this, coupled with your basic metal detectors and other non-intrusive scanning methods. The last step before boarding the plane would be dogs. Have people file into one last room, maybe 50 or so people, and have the dogs take one last sniff around to see what they can find. When the group is cleared, they all go on their way. Perhaps a little bit longer of a wait than we see now at checkpoints, but that is fine with me. If the system were based on common sense and run by professionals, I would happily get to the airport 30 minutes earlier.

Posted on November 17, 2010 at 7:37pm@ Rogue- I think that is a great idea. Dogs should be searching every individual as they walk past security. Also, having professionals / ex military performing the searches would greatly increase the effectiveness of every search. Posted on November 18, 2010 at 1:54am@Rogue – I like that idea. I spent 3 years as an anti-terrorism trainer and assistant in Italy for the US Navy. I was in charge of the Pass & ID office and Military Working Dogs for three different bases and was responsible for protecting American military from terrorists over an area of 600 square miles. We screened contractors, visitors, and dignitaries without a single incident. Never did we need naked body scanners or have to pat down people. This was what I did before and after the September 11th attacks.
Their security procedures are nonsensical. More people drown in bathtubs than die from terrorist attacks.

Boycott the airlines, just a couple of weeks of planes sitting on the tarmac will end the illegal strip searches!
If you subject yourself to be fondled and or stripped searched by flying then don’t biotch about it!
Napolitano, TSA and Congress will not stop this injustice until people stop paying for it!!
