OK Sen. Inhofe, Rep. Lucas Demand Answers After Fed Bans Christ from Bank

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) and Rep. Frank Lucas (R-OK) have responded to recent news that the Federal Reserve forced a local Oklahoma bank to remove Bible verses, crosses, and Christmas buttons from its grounds because they could be considered offensive. In a letter to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, and copied to Attorney General Eric Holder, the politicians say the move appears to be “without precedent” and may be in violation of “fundamental Constitutional protections.”

The letter, obtained by The Blaze, goes on to say the lawmakers have “seldom encountered a more alarming case of heavy-handed interpretation and enforcement of Federal regulations to the exclusion of any other consideration or law, including the Supreme Law of the Land.”

After outlining the controversy and the pair’s position, the letter requests an immediate response:

OK Sen. Inhofe, Rep. Lucas Demand Answers After Fed Bans Christ from BankOK Sen. Inhofe, Rep. Lucas Demand Answers After Fed Bans Christ from Bank

UPDATE: In a statement Friday, Sen. Inhofe and Rep. Lucas said they were “alarmed” about the  Federal Reserve’s “distressing interpretation” of Regulation B concerning the bank in Perkins, Oklahoma.

This is an all out assault on the faith, values, and rights of the bank, its employees and the people of Perkins they serve, Inhofe said. It is absolutely ridiculous for the regulation to be interpreted this way, and it unduly discriminates against a persons faith in Christ and their Constitutionally protected freedom to publically express that faith. It is simply another case of liberals in Washington overstepping their bounds and intruding in the lives of individuals. I expect the Federal Reserve to rectify this situation quickly.

Lucas said, The recent actions taken by the Federal Reserve at Payne County Bank are of great concern to me. I do not agree with its interpretation of Regulation B in this circumstance and believe that it infringes upon fundamental Constitutional rights afforded to all Americans. I encourage the Federal Reserve to review the situation and take the appropriate action to address it.

EVERY attack BHO and his version of an “administration” makes, must be blunted, parried, and then counter-attacked. If you do nothing…. they WILL see “open-field” and push their agenda further until they do encounter resistance. So, everything they do, must meet with resistance. HELLO?

I hate to say it, but that is what war really is and that is what we’re really fighting. Low intensity civil war, or… culture war if you like….

Thank YOU Sen. Inhofe and Congressman Lucas…. Now if we can JUST get the other members of Congress to understand the same thing instead of waxing as if “Statesmen” all the time, we might have a chance a winning ALL the wars in which we are currently embroiled.

“…, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;…” – First Amendment to U.S. Constitution

The bank‘s attorney should review 18 USC Sec 241 and 242 and see if maybe there’s a “windfall” for the bank in bringing charges against these communist pukes.

Excellent Law to Cite. For those who are not an attorney, here is Title 18 U.S.C. Sections 241 and 242:

      Title 18, U.S.C., Section 241
      Conspiracy Against Rights

This statute makes it unlawful for two or more persons to conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person of any state, territory or district in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him/her by the Constitution or the laws of the United States, (or because of his/her having exercised the same).

It further makes it unlawful for two or more persons to go in disguise on the highway or on the premises of another with the intent to prevent or hinder his/her free exercise or enjoyment of any rights so secured.

Punishment varies from a fine or imprisonment of up to ten years, or both; and if death results, or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years, or for life, or may be sentenced to death.

      Title 18, U.S.C., Section 242
Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law

This statute makes it a crime for any person acting under color of law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom to willfully deprive or cause to be deprived from any person those rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution and laws of the U.S.

This law further prohibits a person acting under color of law, statute, ordinance, regulation or custom to willfully subject or cause to be subjected any person to different punishments, pains, or penalties, than those prescribed for punishment of citizens on account of such person being an alien or by reason of his/her color or race.

Acts under “color of any law” include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within the bounds or limits of their lawful authority, but also acts done without and beyond the bounds of their lawful authority; provided that, in order for unlawful acts of any official to be done under “color of any law,” the unlawful acts must be done while such official is purporting or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. This definition includes, in addition to law enforcement officials, individuals such as Mayors, Council persons, Judges, Nursing Home Proprietors, Security Guards, etc., persons who are bound by laws, statutes ordinances, or customs.

Punishment varies from a fine or imprisonment of up to one year, or both, and if bodily injury results or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire shall be fined or imprisoned up to ten years or both, and if death results, or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

I wonder if they know the phrase “Congress shall make no law” means Presidential decree, rule by fiat, executive orders “need not apply”.

This is America – regardless of your religious persuasion – it cannot be argued that our secular country has been founded on, founded by and adminstered by – CHRISTIANS.

I WOULD NEVER COMPLY. No American need ever take a federal bank examinerz direction on anything other than accounting/lending issues.

Much is made about 1st amendments protection of speech from government – most do not realize that the very first part of the very first amendment deals with what the government cannot do regarding the free expression of religion…GOVERMENT is STRICTLY, IMPLICITLY, and DIRECTLY FORBIDDEN to do what this moron just did.

It’s also why the 2nd amendment had to do with the freedom to keep AND BEAR arms.

Regarding governments propensity to become the enemy of the people – the 2nd insures the 1st.

Come and tell me to take my cross down and I’ll give you a lesson on the Constitution.

Criminal charges should then follow for his/her egregious abuse of authority, violating the bank and the bank employee’s right to free speech and their right to express their religeous beliefs as well as any other thing that can be thought of. I‘m always at a total loss when I hear that a religious display might ’offend’ someone. Offend? How, exactly? I mean, I know that there are billions of people all over the world who have different religious views than I do. Am I ‘offended’ by that fact? Nope. They can believe whatever they choose to believe, just like I can believe whatever I choose to believe. As an example, lets say my favorite color is green. If you say your favorite color is not green, but blue, should I be ‘offended?’ Ridiculous. There are lots of things to be offended about in this world, but seeing evidence of someone else’s religious beliefs is not one of them.

I often wonder the same thing. I mean, when I pass a Menorah displayed in the window of a business I never get offended. As often as not, if I walk in to conduct business I’ll wish the proprietor a happy Hanukah as a gesture of goodwill.

Who gets offended by long held and traditional religious symbols in private institutions, and further, why must we all bow our knees to their thin skins as a matter of course?

I know, I’m still puzzling over that one myself. I grew up in Oregon, where even the mention of religion made people pee their pants. I grew up religious (am more religious today, even) and the absolute fear with which far too many Oregonians view religion always befuddled me. What were they so afraid of? That a Christmas tree or a mention of God would turn them all into mindless, flesh-eating zombies? Or that a menorah would, in a glance, burst into flame and impale them for their godlessness? I guess I never found religion or other people’s beliefs all that threatening.

Well that’s a good start. Our Christmas traditions have been a part of this country since the begining and since when does the federal government have the right to take that away? What they don’t understand is the fact that through the hardships this administration has caused many more people are turning to God for strength and hope. That whole obama hope crap just ain’t workin out for the people that work for a living or for those who have lost their jobs. The truth and GOD will set us free., and give the people the answers we so desperately need to get us through this time . Every crisis they create only rebuilds our faith and the federal government can’t take that away from us no matter how hard they try. Merry CHRISTmas and GOD Bless America.

What an egregiously loose interpretation of a rule! Not only is it a private business, but they went so far as to tell a person that their individual JEWELRY was not allowed! While I firmly believe that the First Amendment (in regards to religion) only applies directly to Congress, and then only when enacting laws trying to mandate how someone worships (or not worship), if the Reserve is going to so loosely apply a rule in this matter, we can loosely apply the First Amendment, which trumps the Reserve’s rule if that be the case. This, of course, doesn’t even begin to address other Federal law regarding discriminatory behavior on the basis of religion…

Chock this up as just another reason to END THE FED!!!

You are correct in that the 1st amendment only applies to the Federal Government, which the federal reserve is a governmental organization with regulatory powers.

That means that the 1st amendment PREVENTS them from making any “law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;” This prevents the free exercise of religion

“On every un-authoritative exercise of power by the legislature must the people rise in rebellion or their silence be construed into a surrender of that power to them? If so, how many rebellions should we have had already?” — Thomas Jefferson

Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined. — Patrick Henry, during Virginia’s Convention to Ratify the Constitution (1788)

“ After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small, complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.” — Alexis de Tocqueville

Your are absolutely right! Every time they trample on our rights a group of patriots in the area must go protest. That’s how we lost our freedoms in the first place. The progressive paid the union thugs to hire useful idiots to picket and make noise. We’ve seen that they all tend to back down when someone challenges them; remember the Smithsonian and the ant covered Jesus display? Gone!

So, who in the area can protest outside the bank? Oh and a tip from the union playbook: Always inform the media before you go out so they can be there to put it on the six o’clock news, and make sure you muster up a whole lot of anger and fever when they interview you. Make sure your signs say what you’re protesting, in this case, the FEDs hate Jesus, but they all close down for Christmas, don’t they? And make sure you have a nice catchy chant like, oh, why not use the union chant, “Hey hey, ho ho, Jesus haters got to go!” And someone with a 6 foot cross will be especially appealing for the media. You MUST make it “show worthy” or it doesn’t get air time.

It’s time to wake up the comfortably numb!

Had our previous generations not allowed this travesty to be created, we most likely would not be in the financial and economic situation we face today. Having said that, I’ll say this: Had our previous generations had the communication ability that we have today such as the internet, I doubt either the Federal Reserve nor the Income Tax would have ever been passed by Congress.

Maybe the President thinks that motto of the nation is “E pluribus unum” because it was found in the Seal of the United States and also because of this (from Wikipedia)

“Never codified by law, E pluribus unum was considered a de facto motto of the United States until 1956 when the United States Congress passed an act (H.J. Resolution 396), adopting In God We Trust as the official motto.”

Oh, and that was passed around the same time as “under God” was added to the Pledge of Allegiance, and for the same reason, to intimidate “Godless Communists”. Frankly, I’ve always thought it violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.

I don’t care when or how the moto came about, the fact remains the PRESIDENT of this great nation does not know the moto of the country he leads. He also does not know that there are not 57 states, nor can he quote the preamble of the constitution without “accidentally” leaving out the part about us being “endowed by our creator” with certain unalienable rights. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

If anyone “violated” this clause, it is the federal government every time they prohibit the free exercise of religion on public property etc. This article is a blatant example of them trampling on the 1st ammendment and the rights of the bank employees to express their religion.

Remember Hanukah is only celebrated Dec 1 to Dec 9, though recently they are trying to remove all of OUR AMERICAN established Holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year celebration. (They hate Jesus and Christians so Christmas is a thorn in he Jews side whether it the Reform Jew or the Orthodox Jew) It is OUR season and it is OUR holidays but they are 3 independent holidays that just happen to follow one another. So, when it is Thanksgiving (in America only), it is Thanksgiving and the same with CHRISTMAS. The New Year is not spiritual to us as far as I know. It is just time for some extra fun welcoming the new and saying bye to the old.

Kwanza is anti-white in nature and the only reason it was recently invented.

Jews want America for their own…and the blacks want to rob us of OUR money we worked for while removing OUR history.

The Socialist/Marxist radicals are just part of those who want OUR NATION.

What the citizens of America have lost is the history of it all. It is being twisted and intentionally removed because it is Protestant Christian and the new to OUR land are not, especially the last 110 yrs. I will not succumb to burying my beliefs for Foreign Nationals of recent times as WE made this nation a Godly nation and His name is Jesus. It is so written and so noted in all of the founding documents of OUR history.

      § 202.4 General rules.
      (a) Discrimination. A creditor shall not discriminate against an applicant on a prohibited basis regarding any aspect of a credit transaction.

      (b) Discouragement. A creditor shall not make any oral or written statement, in advertising or otherwise, to applicants or prospective applicants that would discourage on a prohibited basis a reasonable person from making or pursuing an application.

      (c) Written applications. A creditor shall take written applications for the dwelling-related types of credit covered by §202.13(a).

      (d) Form of disclosures —(1) General rule. A creditor that provides in writing any disclosures or information required by this regulation must provide the disclosures in a clear and conspicuous manner and, except for the disclosures required by §§202.5 and 202.13, in a form the applicant may retain.

      (2) Disclosures in electronic form. The disclosures required by this part that are required to be given in writing may be provided to the applicant in electronic form, subject to compliance with the consumer consent and other applicable provisions of the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-Sign Act) (15 U.S.C. 7001 et seq. ). Where the disclosures under §§202.5(b)(1), 202.5(b)(2), 202.5(d)(1), 202.5(d)(2), 202.13, and 202.14(a)(2)(i) accompany an application accessed by the applicant in electronic form, these disclosures may be provided to the applicant in electronic form on or with the application form, without regard to the consumer consent or other provisions of the E-Sign Act.

      (e) Foreign-language disclosures. Disclosures may be made in languages other than English, provided they are available in English upon request.

      [Reg. B, 68 FR 13161, Mar. 18, 2003, as amended at 72 FR 63451, Nov. 9, 2007]

HERE IS THE RULE! WHERE DOES THE FED HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL A PRIVATE BUSINESS IT CANT PROFESS ITS FAITH. SINCE WHEN DOES BELIEVING IN CHRISTAIN VALUES AND BEING PROUD OF IT GIVE ANY PRIVATE BUSINESS THE RIGHT TO TELL ANOTHER NOT TO DISPLAY THEIR BELIEFS.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

THIS IS A CONFILCT OF INTEREST!! AND A VIOLATION OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO OUR FREEDOM OF RELIGION!

Either the FED (a private business) retracts this or they are going to find out what it feels like to have a private business and individual sue them, and for once challenge the laws enacted in 1929 that have discriminated against small private business in favor of publicly traded business.

We all need to send letters to our senators and congressmen. My senators are worthless (California)but I still send letters. If everyone sents letters MAYBE they will get it and put pressure on these power hungry departments to BACKOFF. We are seeing things with these appointed Czars that we know are not right and legal. It is interesting how they interpret the law. By the time all the appeals go through they know these little banks don’t have the money to fight it. To me it is domestic bullying.

Put my signature on the attached also along with chopping up the FED and empowering local independent bankers as it was in a competetive free market banking system before being taken over in 1913. Do away with the IRS as well and let all the Federal Bureau(s) also colapse under their own weight. Now you’re talking real deficit reduction! And respect and reverence for God restored.

The Constitution is a document restricting government not the citizens. We have to remember that and tell these Hippocrates to back off.

It was said that if government fears the people that is Liberty, but if the people fear the government that is tyranny.

      Where are people?

@ noroomforsocialists….Jesus is not a thorn in the side for Jews.
Jesus was a Jew. Jews do not accept Jesus as the Messiah,
Jews believe the Messiah has not come yet.

That is the lesson of the day.

Fire the examiner and then put him on trial for abuse of power. We can not allow people like this in the government, they must be let go.

Also this guy is with the Federal Reserve Inc and not the Federal Government. He has only citizen authority to make this demand. He should have to take it to civil court to have it removed and he should have to pay the expenses out of his own pocket.

This is “regulator’s” or Inspector’s with WAY too much time on there hands….
…As a very young Inspector myself…I was called on the carpet for something I “wrote Up” and the office responded with a very awakening statement to me…“ Is this a real or perceived problem” …made me think and THEY were right and put me in my place!…Way too much government!

Christian symbols in banks would have offended Jesus Christ himself who viewed the deeds of money changers as evil.

You know, I read about this kind of crap almost everyday, and in the grand scheme of things, it’s relatively unimportant. However, this one got to me.

Sure, we have huge problems and issues to deal with, but, geez it’s Christmas! Can’t these bureaucratic bozos leave any of our traditions intact?

Apparently not. Well, screw ‘em. It’s Christmas. It’s the story in told in Luke. It‘s ’A Wonderful Life’ with Jimmy Stuart. It’s Santa Claus and Rudolph. It’s a Christmas tree and beautiful music.

I’m 63 and the bastards will not take that away from me. I just hope I live long enough to see our country as it was in more peaceful, loving and patriotic time.
