An Oklahoma man fell from a bridge after trying to evade police yesterday. The police were looking for the man after an Amber alert was issued for his daughter.
He can be seen with something tied around his neck before he tumbles into a river:

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 1:46pmLet me be clear. I am calling for an immediate investigation as to the misguided efforts of the police in this matter. It was obvious from the video that the police were scaring this man who was simply trying to cool off on a warm day. This type of police misconduct will not be tollerated.

This boy was on the lam. He is charged with assault and rape and warrants were issued for his arrest. Appears he simply had not yet been caught.

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 12:30pm“The girl’s father, Ambrose Fountinal Martinez III, 30, was booked into the Tulsa Jail about 11:30 p.m. Monday on previously filed first-degree rape and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charges.
[...]
Spradlin said the officers on the bridge were following the plan they made when the situation started. He said one of the officers said he used to jump from the bridge when he was younger and thought Martinez would survive a fall into the water, so if he hanged himself and the belt held, officers planned to run to him and cut him down.
Instead, the belt snapped loose as soon as Martinez fell.”

Those officers should have tossed the boy a stout lariat.

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 1:40pmthis is going to sound bad but… sucks to be him. But my question is why the SCHOOL would allow the girl to leave with him… the parents were no longer married (I researched) he did not have custody (hence the amber alert) and was convicted of violent crimes.
Seems to me that school system need better screening. Where I live we have to go through multiple layers of security before anyone (including the parents) are allowed to take a child from school… especially when parents are no longer married.

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 2:17pmDEBRA BATE makes a good point, “…my question is why the SCHOOL would allow the girl to leave with him….”
Appears some deceit was involved in fooling school administration. Tulsa World reports:
——
Martinez apparently went to the school with his friend Martin Garcia Jr., 20, and Garcia went in to get the girl. Garcia signed the girl out from school, but not under the father’s name, police said.
Initial reports indicated that he might have used another relative’s name, police said.
The girl reportedly identified Garcia as a friend of her father’s and did not appear to be afraid to go with him.
[...]
…all district schools require parents and guardians to fill out emergency contact cards that indicate what adults are authorized to pick up students during the day. Marler said the cards also ask whether any special circumstances exist, including protective orders, and to list anyone who should never allowed to pick up the child under any circumstance….”
——
Clear evidence this girl’s father actively remained hidden while a friend used the name of an approved relative to take this girl. I think her school played this safe but were fooled. This might come down to a need of schools requesting photographs of “approved” relatives.
This boy who faked the name of a relative to take this girl should be charged with kidnapping and child endangerment. A minimum ten year prison sentence would be appropriate. Her father, this violent rapist, should be given the death sentence.
What I read suggests this father committed this act of physical violence and rape in front of his daughter. Identity of his rape victim is not disclosed but his daughter being present suggests this creep raped her mother, his wife.
