Omaha Steaks ‘Pulls’ Glenn Beck Advertising, Then Backtracks…Or Did It?

Earlier this week, Omaha Steaks reportedly caved to liberal pressure from StopBeck.com and Media Matters and dropped its advertising on all Glenn Beck programs. But there’s only one problem, Omaha Steaks says that never happened.

Here’s how StopBeck.com reported the yanking on Thursday (emphasis by StopBeck) via Gateway Pundit:

This morning, Omaha Steaks announced that they were removing their ads from Glenn Beck’s program (emphasis added):

Omaha Steaks buys large units of national television advertising during the holiday season. This year, we bought a package of advertising through the Fox Network. We did not specifically request to be included on the Glenn Beck program. As part of our contract, the Omaha Steaks ads run in a variety of time slots throughout the day.

We took your comments regarding the Glenn Beck Program to heart. After further review and careful consideration, we have decided to pull all advertising from Glenn Beck programming effective December 20th, 2010. Unfortunately, due to advertising cancellation policies, we were bound to continue possible ad placements through Sunday, December 19th.

At Omaha, we greatly value the loyalty and support of our customers, fans and followers and thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

Great work all! See, your tweets and messages really do matter.

It didn’t take long for Omaha Steaks to deny the report. By Thursday afternoon the company deleted its original announcement and replaced it with a “correction”:

The staff writers of our blog responded incorrectly and I want to apologize for any confusion this may have caused.  The facts are: we did not “pull” our ads from any show. Our holiday TV advertising contract ends on December 19th. Our contract never specified when our ads would air, only that they would air. Mr. Beck’s show is enjoyed by many, and we at Omaha Steaks hope our steaks are too. Our marketing is designed to speak to Americans who love steaks and great food, getting together with family and friends and giving gifts of great taste – no matter what TV shows they watch or what newspapers they read.

Bruce Simon
CEO, Omaha Steaks
______________

Omaha Steaks buys large units of national television advertising during the holiday season. This year, we bought a package of advertising through the Fox Network. We did not request to be included on specific program. As part of our contract, the Omaha Steaks ads run in a variety of time slots throughout the day.

At Omaha Steaks, we greatly value the loyalty and support of our customers, fans and followers and thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

But what exactly is Simon saying? His statement seems a little cryptic. Below the signature, it reads, “We did not request to be included on specific program” [sic]. It doesn’t say whether or not it requested not to be included in any time slot or on any program, only that it didn’t categorically “pull” its advertising.

Additionally, the initial statement announcing the decision references “pulling” advertising after December 20, during what appears to be a new contract. Yet Simon‘s statement only talks about the company’s past contract, and says nothing about its plans going forward. Technically, a company can’t pull ads that have yet to air as part of a new contract. Simon, then, could be right. So too could the writers of the old statement. That’s because it seems the two statements are talking about completely different things. The point may be, well, technical, but in the business world many deals are made or lost on technicalities.

Still, the confusion cuts both ways. In an update to its original story, StopBeck.com included the following:

Omaha Steaks’ CEO posted a follow up statement this morning. At this point, I’m not sure what it means. I can’t tell if it’s designed to be cover given the backlash (at some points threatening) of Glenn Beck devotees or if they’re affirming support for Glenn Beck.

Time will tell…

That confusion, or at least the initial scathing post, is enough for Jim Hoft over at Gateway Pundit to go without meat from OS for a while:

I enjoyed buying from Omaha Steaks in the past.
I will not be calling Omaha Steaks this year.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Media Matters, which originally used StopBeck.com’s story as source to report on the “pulling,” has not updated its story with the correction.

Me thinks, be reading a key sentence, the part about the contract ending on the 19th, and the story 1st being put out that after the 19th, they will not be allowing or putting ads on Beck’s show. If contract ends on the 19th for ads on fox, then the deal by the group stop beck are claiming they were successful in ending because of boycott. Even though it has nothing to do with the boycott. As long as they can claim it- see ads on Beck’s shows, we whined and cried, no adverts after the 19th.
    See we big muckety mucks.
Libs have done this before. They know a contract ends on a date, claim just before that date that they yelled and kicked and screamed mommy until the big badies caved and the show was pulled, adverts stopped, ect….
I don’t see anything showing steaks was doing anything because of the stop beckers.
Contracts up. Stop beckers saw a chance for improvement with the mad cow followers of hock(spit)ington post, media scatters (brain), or the National Inquire’s sister paper “the new yak times”.

I don’t eat much red meat, and if I did I would definitely not order steak from anyone who pulled an ad from Glenn Beck’s program or Fox News. As far as I’m concerned they are the only people on TV who tell the truth as they see it and Glenn will tell you “if you don’t believe him or want to double check for yourself, do your own homework”. I do not believe Glenn would intentionally lie, not like most people in the press. May God Bless.

Hey I see The Blaze caught up to this story. I’ve been on it for a couple of hours trying to validate some of their claims of 140 + companies boycotting Glenn Beck. The link is somewhere on the stupid site if you want to go back and look , but its a pretty long list and I found ADT on there . Now I have someone in my family that is the Higher ups of the company so I made some phone calls and no ones seems to know what I’m talking about, but they are checking on it.

I was given the number to media relations : Ann Linestrom 561 988-3258 .
I look forward to see what she has to say. I think its a lie and they are making this stuff up.

I noticed to that StopGlennBeck site, did not put the correction on their site , from the CEO .

I have an Idea, they should change their name to the Obama Steak Company. Then Michelle could choose their menu for them, and be a supplier to the White House. However, they would be restricted to only selling 2 ounces of meat at a time to combat obesity. Also, it would be illegal to turn the meat into hamburger, since maybe someone without true enlightenment be allowed to partake in such a meal. Michelle thinks that parents are too stupid to feed their kids anyway, so this would be one more controlled source of animal protein.

Well according to one website it claims that at least 100 advertisers have reportedly dropped their ads from Glenn Beck’s Fox News program since he called President Obama a “racist” who has a “deep-seated hatred for white people.”, but yet he still is and I’m sure will continue to be on the air. (Perhaps until the FCC takes over the airwaves that is…)

As to whether or not Omaha Steaks did or didn’t, will or will not pull their advertisement from his show will be of little to no consequences. I’m sure there will be many more fine, upstanding, and respectable businesses and companies that will continue and will always support Glenn Beck and what he stands for.

One of the issues here is ratings and exposure. The reason that companies advertise on stations is for exposure. Right now, ABC, NBC, and CBS are behind Fox News in terms of number of viewers.

So, in theory, all of the groups who are so very terrified of Beck can write and call and threaten all the various companies regarding their advertising. And the companies can cave. And in doing so, they forfeit the viewer exposure, which limits their effectiveness. In the long run, it’s really stupid, but hey, it’s also their choice.

There‘s been caterwauling about Glenn’s visit to Ohio, to Alaska and other places, but I don’t see the liberals working to promote businesses in towns struggling to stay alive. People are moaning about the cost of the tickets to hear Glenn speak, but how much do the Superbowl tickets cost, or maybe the tickets to the local Democratic candidates fund raiser? Heck, B.O. came to a neighboring town about two weeks ago and the National Democrats were going to charge the City Official $200 each to be there for the address. It didn’t look very good for them when the word got out, so they changed it at the last moment. Still, a number of the Council members from that town had better things to do that night.

So, I say, let the market take a nice big bite out of the companies. They can advertise 24/7 on any of the channels, but they probably won’t get my dollar, since I’m aware of the game plan now.

      StopBeck.com provides a list here,

      http://stopbeck.com/dropped-sponsors/

of advertisers that they claim have “either pulled ads from or taken proactive measures to ensure that their ads do not appear on the Glenn Beck Program”.

However many of these companies probably do not advertiese on any program with political content. They simply do not want to alienate their customers. Organizations like StopBeck.com would prefer not have that understanding known. They use the fact that companies do not advertise on a given station as proof that these companies support their cause. It is simple mis-representation on the part of StopBeck.com with the purpose of bolstering their credibility.

Do not boycott these companies on the word of some organization like StopBeck.com. If you want to show your support for Beck find out the facts directly from the company first or from reliable sources. StopBeck.com is not a reliable source for such information. Plain and simple!

I love this country and I believe that the capitalistic basis of the US economy has made us the greatest nation despite what anyone who knows my handle might believe. Capitalists have one motive: profit. They pay big bucks to have their product associated with a popular sports star or TV personality. But every single large company is refusing to have their ads shown on FOX during Beck’s show. Those include Best Buy, Walmart, Bank of American, Kraft, General Mills, etc. At least a hundred huge corporations refuse to have their commercials shown during Beck’s show – watch the commercials Beck devotees, and ask why these obscure companies only will have commercials on his show (like ones who want to take your money for wheat seeds).

The reason? Are the companies who have rejected Beck communist running dogs? No, they are run by conservative Republicans. But their motive is profit, and they know that for the majority of Americans, association with Glenn Beck, his racism, his paranoid ideas, his hatred is bad for their business.

Those of you who get your news from FOX only don‘t realize that every major company has withdrawn ads during Beck’s show. Not because they’re are liberal, but because association with Glenn is a huge negative for most Americans. Pure capitalism, profit motive. The 1% of Americans who think Glenn speaks for the average American are proved wrong, way wrong, by the rejection of every major company in the United States, a poll more real than any you’ll see in the newspaper.

BlazingPatriot, thanks for the list. Beck supporters need to write the Customer Relations departments of these companies to let them know we will boycott their products as long as they boycott advertising on Beck’s show. In your letter, make sure to point out that the losers who are threatening to boycott these companies if they advertise on Beck’s show are people who beg for handouts to pay their mortgages, who beg for handouts to pay their health insurance premiums and who beg for handouts so they can trade in their clunkers on cars they couldn’t otherwise afford. Then remind them that Beck listeners are people with disposable income who buy gold as a hedge against inflation. Beggars vs. people with disposable income… it seems obvious that these companies haven’t reasoned through their decisions to snub Beck supporters.

      @ JZS

That’s a load of bull. The list posted on stopbeck.com has been throuroughly debunked. Only a handful of companies actually made statements that they would not be advertising during Becks program going forward. But they are empty statements since none of them advertised during his programs to begin with. Many of the companies listed there have come out with statements since learning of their inclusion on the list indicating that they never pulled any advertising from Becks programs since they never advertised there to begin with and had in fact never even considered it one way or the other.

Besides your phony patriotic malarky is ridiculous even without pointing out the idiotic phony propaganda list of stopbeck.com. You start with a valid assertion. That the free market will dictate what people want to hear or see because without viewers there are no advertisers and without advertisers a program won’t survive. But this effort is not free market at work. It‘s not individual people deciding they don’t care for a program and simply deciding not to do business with people that support it. It’s an organized shakedown by a very tiny group of propaganda pushers in a sad attempt to silence someone.

If you really believed in a free market dictating what the people want to see, then you would want the free market to run it’s course. But you don’t want that. You want a tiny group of people to be able to dictate what the whole country can see by organizing a boycott machine. Not a legitimate boycott where people simply stop supporting something they don’t like. But a few people spam mailing companies using a thousand different fake names each to make it appear as if they represent a larger section of society than those few pathetic mouthbreathers in their mother’s basements.

You know . . . all this negativity, and at Christmas? A person just can’t allow all this corporate word-of-mouth bashing to go on without some good cheer, a little word-of- mouth promotion of the competition . . . to balance it all out.

As an alternative to this reduced company, check out Allen Brothers; they put out by far a superior line of products . . . no comparison really. If you’re saying Thank You to customers or family at Christmas (or any time), why not send the best?

And if you have the time; it would be interesting to know which names on BlazingPatriot’s list were also the first to jump onto Al Gore’s global-warming scam wagon a decade ago; and which ones are still taking turns driving it?

We know these super marketers are testing the winds of social change constantly . . . perhaps more than Anthony Weiner checks the balance of your Grandpa’s portfolio; but the point is these guy’s social and moral compasses are set only to follow the money, and with no morals; they’re liberal. Understanding that, know that when conservatives start demanding equality in this manner as a consumer block, by way of sales forecasts and market potentials, especially to the youth segment, you know we’re making our way back. But also know that we can very much make that happen over time.

To do that, first embrace the knowledge that controlling language and words are critically important to creating and moving a culture; couple that with knowing that our corporate languages and cultures are dangerously infected with liberalism, as in socialism, not capitalism. The interpretation of words, definitions and imagery are socially critical to forming identities and realities. Knowing this allows you to clearly see the depths in which American capitalism has been damaged, filled with disease, infected with anti-capitalist liberalisms. I don’t have tell anyone here that whenever capitalism is interfered with in the ways that liberalism chokes the air out of a room, we can expect bad things to always happen. In other words, we know there will be corruption under the guise of social responsibility, the infamous “corporate responsibility” that liberals are constantly throwing out whenever they want to punish an industry or a corporation for its actions, such as advertising on the evil FOX News network.

And in that consideration then, we can consider how we view and do business with our corporate suppliers of all the goods and services that we need and want and purchase with our consumer dollars. After all, our consideration, we owe it to them. But what we consider is that these corporations are attempting to teach us a lesson; to give us a spanking. Are they not? We should give these lessons and punishment some thought. Which simply leads us to the proper way of looking at this: These companies are boycotting us; they’re gladly taking our money while telling us how to think. They’re boycotting our right to sensibility, logic, truth and reality. And let’s not forget that they whole heartedly deliver their language and their messages to our children. Let’s not for one minute forget about the liberal corporate decisions to not only operate within a pro-green environmentalist perspective, and then charge us higher prices for it, but they’ve made the decision to also market themselves as a promoter of all things that are liberal, with the money they get from us; that we willingly give them. For instance, did we ask to burn corn in our gas tanks . . . or drive wacky little electric cars . . ? No we didn’t. But their language says that we did, or that we would if we knew what was good for us.

If you’re in a position to find a new supplier for the products or services that you purchase from one of these anti-conservative corporations, don’t feel bad about doing that. That’s capitalism. It may not be the way we want to do things, but for right now, it is the only way to make the changes that we need. And also, in this mix, you have to consider what Obama Liberals want to do with corporations. Like your grandparent’s bank account, they believe corporations belong to the government. If we have leaders in these corporations that are steering the vision and corporate culture toward liberalism, regardless of the jobs that they provide, slowly choking them off until they’re forced to change out of necessity (capitalism), is the only way to keep them out of government control and in constant need of future bailouts, as in “too big to fail.”

So if the Tea Party is going to lead any serious lasting charge against liberalism, they have to first understand this war that liberalism has waged against America must be fought on many social fronts and for duration. These corporations were created out of American capitalism; that’s what they belong to. Liberalism however takes the position that they belong to them; or rather, they are theirs for the taking.

And then, if you’re feeling bad about “boycotting” them, know that their liberal leaders have used the power of American capitalism to position themselves to overthrow and control our culture. These corporations have been hijacked just as our governments have. Cutting ties, cutting into their market share, is the only thing they will respond to. If it makes you feel better, simply change the language. You’re not “boycotting;” you’re practicing responsible citizenship by guarding the power of your consumer dollars from falling into the wrong hands.

This is exactly the same tactic used in the latest case of “90% of Fox watchers are misinformed.“ The college does a ”survey” (using leftist agenda items as “correct answers”) so that pubs like the HuffPo can make huge front page articles out of it (without mention of course, of the perameters of the survey.)

Other than voting, our greatest power lies in ‘how’ we spend our money. While the leftists in this nation are adamently working to shut up Beck through persuading advertisors not to advertise, we can weild a mightier sword by choosing NOT to spend our money with those companies. Copy the list, distribute the list, contact the companies and don’t purchase from them. While investigating the Campbell’s website, I notice that other ‘products’ like Pace, Pepperidge Farms and Prego are made by Campbell’s. I will no longer purchase these products either. Since this nation is a nation of consumers, we can turn this fallibility into a weapon. Our dollars are our bullets in this war for freedom.

I agree with Blazing Patriot that we should boycott those companies who pulled their ads from Beck`s show. I went to the Wilmington event and it was an uplifting event. Glenn was great and all the residents were extremely friendly. Interesting thing about the boycott is ,that one of the companies that pulled their ads is a company that I`m receiving a pension check from . Another company who bans their ads is Holiday Inn. The nearby Wilmington,Ohio Holiday INN pulled Fox News programing from all their rooms along with other liberal hotels in the general area during Beck`s stay in the area.Being a priority club menber with Holiday INN ,I won`t be staying at many of their chain hotels in the future. You think these big companies would learn their lesson and stay out of politics all together.

Beckisnutsisnuts again with his Beck trolling writes,

“Attention all proud conservative, clear-thinking and patriotic Americans, turn off Glenn Beck’s delusional, misguided and paranoid show and listen to Rush Limbaugh and the other A list conservative programming instead. God is not going to come to earth and set up a Mormon Theocracy in our lifetimes, as Glenn is hoping for. The deck chairs are beginning to slide on the good ship GlennBeck. Abandon ship!”

I do listen to Rush, and he says the same things Beck does. I do not recall Beck ever claiming God was going to come to earth to set up a Mormon theocracy? Do you have that quote handy? I mean, I watch Beck almost every day and have actually never heard him even espouse the Mormon beliefs other then to mention now and then that he is a Mormon. In fact, so far every time I have heard Beck mention God or Jesus Christ it has been very theologically sound. Which is more than I can say for O’Reilly who really has no clue about the gospel message, and some others on FNC who have repeated some common misconceptions about Christianity, such as doing something bad will cause you to go to hell or that being a good person will ensure eternity in heaven. No…Beck has always been very theologically sound, at least in his public speaking. I should know, I have a M. Div.

Beck is also sound in his political thinking. Does he go a little off the deep end at times? Yeah…But he uses solid facts to spin his theories. Listen…I understand his being called a fear monger, and I am sure there are hoards of blind kool-aide drinking followers out there that foam at the mouth every day at 5:00 P.M. Eastern. Just reading some of the comments in here prove that, heck, many of these people want to burn down Omaha Steaks without actually reading the entire article and seeing that Omaha Steaks is NOT pulling advertising, Stupid people come in all shapes, colors, and political persuasions. Most seem to be liberal, I believe there is a prerequisite of having your head up your butt to be called a liberal, but there are enough right wing nut jobs out there to fill a medium state too. Beck even says this, that instead of thinking political differences are linear, as in left and right, instead picture a clock with the extreme left and extreme right meeting at 12! I think most of us in here are at 3:00, but it does take all kinds.

I am really becoming interested in your deep seated hatred of Beck. You seem like an otherwise normal person, but Beck obviously has you foaming at the mouth. Is it a Mormon hatred that drives you? It seems to be. Or does he just rub you the wrong way like Pelosi does me? I mean, out of all the D.C. idiots, Pelosi has a special place in my heart. I don’t know why, but I really hate that woman. Every single thing she says and does. Maybe it is because I wonder how anyone as stupid…insipid…cow-like…as her could ever hold a job like speaker. Does Beck just rub you the wrong way?

This story is, well, ambiguous. Perhaps if you have never worked for a company in your entire LIFE, you may not know that different sections can say different things. When it comes to relating to the public, this happens in only, well, 9 out of 10 cases. Reporting ambiguities is not news. Contact the company and find out, then report that. Do not just report the ambiguity and just bugger off. Get involved.

Oh, thing about Beck I forgot to say in my above post:

Usually, where there is smoke, there is fire. When Beck first started putting all these pieces together it was unbelievable. I mean, O’Reilly is STILL fooled, he is just now beginning to get it. Beck keeps coming up with these far out plots and associations, week after week…Yet they all eventually pan out! It is like watching a soap opera, but the soap opera is coming true in real life. Glenn predicts it and 3-6 months later it unfolds. But it always unfolds in a much less grandiose manner then Beck portrayed earlier. Part of it is we gradually accept how bad things really are in little pieces. We become desensitized to it. But Beck was and is basically right. Obama is a socialist, he is surrounded by radicals who are using his administration to fulfill the progressive dream, and Sorros is the puppet master who is running the show for the progressives. This is not conjecture, it has been born out. Beckisnuts, you would do well to actually watch Beck for a week. On FNC, not just clips on MSNBC that are taken out of context. Watch the whole show, bury your hatred and see what he is really about. You are sadly misinformed and it is blatantly clear to everyone who does watch Beck. Either that or you are just a troll or a plant. Either way, you are blind when it comes to Beck. If you can support even some of the stuff you claim then do it.

I wouldn’t usually read an obvious liberal link from an obvious liberal troll, but in this case I did.

First off, did you notice that this is an editorial? It is not a news article, it is an opinion or perspective, the same as the Beck, O’Reilly, and Hannity shows are also editorials. This, right there, nullifies the LA Times opinion piece. But let’s have a look at it anyway.

The first complaint is that Fox News’s Washington managing editor instructed reporters to use the term “government option” instead of “public option.” This is terrible! What kind of unbalanced, right wing punditry is this?

Well, what, exactly IS the “public option?” Let’s turn to that non-refrence that we are not supposed to ever use professionally but which seems to be a great resource for most anything; Wikipedia. It says in the first sentence under “public oprion”:

“The public health insurance option is a proposed government-run health insurance agency which competes with other health insurance companies.”

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_health_insurance_option

Hmmm…Government run health insurance…Or…A government option. Shame, shame, shame on Fox for calling a spade a spade…

But even this opinion piece in the LA Times does not really blame Fox! Just read what this author writes:

“Liberal bloggers were furious, but few mainstream journalists could muster much outrage. Arguments over semantics and perceived bias are commonplace and seldom fruitful. “Government option” is no less valid a descriptor for the proposal than the more commonly used “public option,” and if Fox News was demonstrating bias by using the former, one could accuse mainstream outlets of the same for using the latter.”

      Well, that is honest!

But their real problem seems to be that the same Washington managing editor wrote another email:

“We should refrain from asserting that the planet has warmed (or cooled) in any given period without IMMEDIATELY pointing out that such theories are based upon data that critics have called into question,”

The opinion piece in the LA Times responds with this lame bit of indignant fury:

“Such data aren’t in serious dispute among climate scientists. The way the data are interpreted can vary; it’s legitimate for climate skeptics to reach conclusions that contradict mainstream theories. But only a crank would deny the underlying temperature data that show the Earth getting warmer — records compiled by independent stations around the world, combined with satellite measurements and confirmed by observations of rising sea levels, vanishing glaciers and other inputs — because to do so is to deny material and measurable facts.”

But the thing is…The data is in dispute! The estimate of warming is LESS than the margin of error in data that has been reliably collected since around 1880. The land temperature-only data (less than 30% of the planet and usually measured around cities) yields a trend of 0.07 °C/decade over the same period for a total increment of 0.875 °C. Take into account the rise in population and it is not an unusual trend.

All that aside though, the Goreites are trying to make a doomsday scenario out of an irrelevant rise in temps by misrepresenting the data yet the complaint here is the suggestion that we should refrain from suggesting that the planet has warmed or cooled without calling into question the FACT that the data is not solid! Lol, that is rich! Bad FNC! Bad, Bad FNC!!! Go to your room! No cookies for you!

JZS, why would you even bother with this?

      JZS,

The one motive of Capitalists is not “profit”. The one motive of Capitalists is “individual liberty”, which is the only basis for free speech and for property rights.

If, in our Capitalist pursuits, we do not attain all that we hoped for, we congratulate those that have and realize that ultimately we can only blame ourselves. I‘m not jealous of someone else’s wealth. I can be just as wealthy, in theory.

This idea that Capitalists are only interested in profit is false. And profit is not the same as usury, by the way; For example, the barter system can allow all parties of a transaction to make a profit if they trade their excess goods to someone who is selling their excess goods – this is the benefit of Specialization.

Capitalism is about honoring each individual’s right to become as great as he can without violating the rights of others.

I find it repulsive and disgusting. Being a well educated individual with a rather detailed understanding of Beck’s history, I’m not buying his act. Not at all. He believes that we will see the “arm of God!” in our lifetimes – he said so last week. He believes the “end of life as we know it” – his words, is just around the bend. He inflames ignorant people during uncertain times, for profit, and that makes him an irresponsible, dangerous man. I’m happy to see others recognize this and are exposing the fraud. I wish more people who share the conservative perspective would join the effort (as Laura Ingraham has.) Rush sticks to politics and avoids crazy conspiracies, fire and brimestone preaching and end times talk. Glenn doesn’t.

I have read your opinions for months now beckisnutsisnuts! Unlike many in here I realize you are not a liberal. You are also not a believer and therein lies your problem with Beck and with me and with most of us in here. What Beck is preaching is not a Mormon doctrine, most Christians believe we are either in or fast approaching the end times. I am 50 something and I fully believe I will be raptured before I die. The signs are all there, everything is lined up like never before, all you have to do is read Daniel and Revelation and it is plain as day. I do not think it is coming in the next few years, I am looking more at like Easter Sunday 2028ish if I had to make a bet…But no man knows…

Anyway, Beck preaches a very evangelical message which has many of us wondering how he can be a Mormon. But that is neither here nor there, he is in God’s hand, and I believe he is a believer. God is working through him. You can keep on dreaming that he is washed up, but something tells me he is just beginning.

      Dear Friend,

We appreciate your concern regarding our advertising during the Glenn Beck
show. Below is a statement from our President, Mr. Bruce Simon.

The staff writers of our blog responded incorrectly and I want to
apologize for any confusion this may have caused. The facts are: we did
not “pull” our ads from any show. Our holiday TV advertising contract
ends on December 19th. Our contract never specified when our ads would
air, only that they would air. Mr. Beck’s show is enjoyed by many, and we
at Omaha Steaks hope our steaks are too. Our marketing is designed to
speak to Americans who love steaks and great food, getting together with
family and friends and giving gifts of great taste – no matter what TV
shows they watch or what newspapers they read.

      Bruce Simon, President

Furthermore, Omaha Steaks has no affiliation with Mr. Beck, nor do we
endorse any political affiliations, views or beliefs.

At Omaha Steaks, we greatly value the loyalty and support of our
customers, fans and followers and thank you for bringing your concerns to
      our attention.

      —————————————————————————–

I e-mailed them about this story and they REPLIED with this .. I believe it’s the same exact statement as BLAZE posted. With that said, maybe they aren’t actually going to quit advertising on FOX/Beck’s show …

This nation was built upon Christian values. The vast majority of Americans BELIEVE in God as well .. so you’re actually in the minority. Calling yourself a “well educated” makes any sane conservative weary of you in the first place. What some call “well educated” others call brainwashed.

You’ve been spoon fed shaky and unfounded evolutionary theory all your life. The key word being THEORY! It’s not a FACT! No sane scientist who has any credibility will CALL it a fact. Why? Because there’s no missing link! NO smoking gun! To me, it’s a 100+ year old theory with not much real and proven science behind it. Anyone who is naive enough to take a theory as a fact is as IGNORANT in my eyes as I appear to you as someone crazy enough to believe in a HIGHER POWER!

Thank you for posting that JSH1284. I would also suggest that people thoroughly research any company they plan on boycotting for this. I suspect (though I have not seen proof) that the list of companies is a fraud. I personally cannot see any serious company participating in something like this, they would not take any kind of a stand because they would not want to alienate any of their customer base. This is just common sense.

That is also quite a list to carry around in your pocket to reference every time you want to buy anything. There are some pretty big names on that list too does anyone honestly believe they could avoid all products from those companies? For real? How many of these companies EVER advertised during Beck’s show anyway? Does it even work like that? I mean, I suppose you pay extra for a prime time slot but can you even specify which programming you want (or don’t want) to advertise through? So in trying to avoid Beck don’t they have to avoid FNC?

In any case, I am not buying. I think there may be a handful of companies, with idiot ideological CEOs, that may have participated in this, but I am not going to worry about it. If Beck wanted us to boycott anyone he would have told us. I really do not think he cares. He gets plenty of advertising, but even if he didn’t, his show receives so many viewers that FNC would find the money from other sources. It is nothing but a publicity scam designed to try and discredit Beck. But like anything else these lunatics do, it will backfire and Beck will only become more popular and gain even more viewers.

I am just asking that the good people in here read the articles and do the research before going off half cocked.

DOCTOR, I suggest you get a dictionary and look up the word “capitalism.” In case you don‘t have a dictionary here’s a definition for you: “Capitalism is an economic system in which the means of production are privately owned and operated for a private profit.“ There nothing about ”liberty“ in the definition of the word ”capitalism.” Russia and China are both evolving into capitalist economies because they recognize that individuals, given the profit motive, are far more productive than those whose hard work gives no reward (and please everyone, stop using the word “communist” to criticize the left – nobody, even China, believes that communism is a viable economic system).

Anyway DOCTOR, good luck with your new definition of the word “capitalism.” Maybe it will catch on.

For all of you who responded to my post with conspiracy theories about why no major company will advertise on Beck’s program, I‘d say don’t be offended. Those companies know what they’re doing. It’s just business. Association of their company with Beck is going to lose more business and profit than it gains. Cold, hard logic, nothing about politics. Beck appeals to a tiny fraction of the American public (maybe 1% of America watches his show), but his remarks, when they make the news, offend women, minorities and a large percentage of the rest of America. Good luck with your boycott, but honestly I doubt that the conservative, Republican owners of all those companies give your anger a second of thought.

TROLL you posted this: The estimate of warming is LESS than the margin of error in data that has been reliably collected since around 1880. The land temperature-only data (less than 30% of the planet and usually measured around cities) yields a trend of 0.07 °C/decade over the same period for a total increment of 0.875 °C. Take into account the rise in population and it is not an unusual trend.

It’s not evident from reading that plagiarized statement that it is a contradiction of global warming. It says temperatures are rising but those rises are due to population growth. Can you give the source of that statement? Why no link? It confirms global warming, but I’d like to read the entire article you are quoting.

There really is no dispute that Earth temperatures are rising and have been since the Industrial Revolution. One easy way to tell the utter oblivious, who get their science from Rush and Glenn, from the somewhat more knowledgeable is whether they recognize that the Earth actually is getting warmer. That is not in dispute. Decade by decade, aggregate world temperature is rising? How fast the Earth is warming, and the degree to which human activity is responsible is the only matter of debate.

Hey girls and guys, you’ll sound a lot smarter if you agree that the world is getting warmer but that the effect of increased CO2 in the atmosphere from human activity is negligible in comparison with other factors that influence temperatures in the world. When you deny the Earth is warming, you sound like uneducated hicks. Sorry.

Here’s a question for you. You may have a globe in your house, you know those spherical things that show the countries, oceans and the poles? How thick do you think the atmosphere is, all the air above us is? An inch? Maybe a half or a quarter of an inch?

No. The air that surrounds the Earth is thinner than the paper that covers that globe, the paper printed with all the countries and oceans. That incredibly thin layer above the Earth’s surface keeps us warm thanks to CO2, something we’ve known for 150 years. Without that incredibly thin layer of air life on Earth would not be possible (religious people may find the hand of God in that).

When we pump CO2 into that vanishingly small layer it’s going to increase the amount of heat the Earth retains. Nobody questions that. The only question is not if, but by how much the activities of the human race will increase temperatures on Earth.

Once again you try and derail the argument by misdirecting what was said, ironically the very thing you and those like you are accusing Fox of doing! Did I EVER say the earth is not warming?

But now that you mention it, a barley perceptible trend over the course of a mere two hundred years for what you consider a billions of years old earth (what is it, 4 billion now?) is not data! It is not even conjecture. It is meaningless. FNC said we should question it, that is a given!

I would agree the earth is warming. Because we are coming off an ice age a couple/few thousand years ago. Yeah, the glaciers will melt. So?
