‘On the Verge of a Complete Nervous Breakdown’: HBO Movie Trailer Casts Sarah Palin in Unflattering Light

Well, it’s finally out. HBO has released a full-length trailer for its upcoming film based on the John Heilemann and Mark Halperin book “Game Change.”

Although the book was more about the struggle between then-Senators Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton, the filmmakers may have decided that part was boring and instead chose to focus on John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, specifically on his selection of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Want to take a wild guess at how HBO treats the McCain/Palin campaign?

Back in December, The Blaze’s Billy Hallowell wrote about the pending release of the movie: “We’ll have to wait and see how the film treats the then-candidates before making an official determination about its fairness and accuracy. Either way, it should be a fascinating watch.”

That was then, this is now.

“Seriously, for anyone who hates Palin, it’s clear that HBO has made the perfect piece of horror/comedy/porn for you,” wrote Mediaite‘s Jon Bershad after viewing the trailer.

Some feel that HBO’s portrayal of former governor Palin and, perhaps to a lesser extent, Sen. McCain plays into common stereotypes.

And while one might feel compelled to respond in anger to what many would classify a ludicrous falsehood (”We have to win this, I really don’t want to go back to Alaska”?), one has to stop and ask: “What else was I expecting?”

Of course, this is just the trailer; the actual film may be very even-handed. But we’re not going to hold our breath.

Final thought: at least HBO chose a decent theme song for the trailer.

    If you want to see a real breakdown, let Palin run for president and win. You’ll see mental and emotional breakdowns not only in Hollywood, but in every other lefty hot spot.

      they are afraid that she is still a political force and they are once again trying to bury her.
      will she join newt on the campaign trail???
      It’s disgusing what we allow the minority in our country to do…drag good people down to their level all in the name of the “freedom of speech”. I believe when you infringe on the rights of another in this manner , you have over stepped and shredded all of your rights.

      Normally I would scoff at the Hollywood Left’s attempt at portraying Palin. However, I really couldn’t care less about her at this point in time.

      Not one candidate has ever come close to the vitriol unleashed on Sarah Palin! She has continued to say good things about Santorum and Gingrich and one of the only conservatives to say anything nice about Ron Paul. She is trying to prevent the election from being decided early by the establishment. Regardless of whether you like her or not, no one deserves the constant hatred and attacks that she and her family have endured.

      Well, if Palin was to win in your version of this story it would certainly be a work of FICTION! She knew she could not win and didn’t even want to try since not only would she lose money but she would also be embarrased in debates and the final election outcome! Sarah Palins 15-minutes of infamy are finally nearing the end. She is such a pathetic dimwit that wouldn’t be able to pass a fourth-grade reading comprehension test!! I can’t believe that Palin once commented that “people once coexisted with dinosaurs”. What a friggin lamebrain!       what i saw was a progressive campaign (mccain), trying to reign in her independent conservative thinking. i live in az. and feel that mccain gave up and the only thing that even put him in the running with nobama was Sarah. someone told him if he acted like himself and showed his aggressive side he would never win. so in other words someone neutered mccain i dont think he ever intended on winning the “08” election. mccain though he is a war hero has become impudent and has nothing relevant to say anymore.     Even if Sarah was the kind of person they portray her to be, isn’t it really lowdown to make a movie about her that way? Where is the movie about Anthony Weiner, Bill Clinton and others?

    What else would you expect from a HBO production with Hollywood lib stars? I would be shocked if they were half way fair or honest. Actually, an honest production about the Obama/Hilliary battle would be very interesting. I would love to hear the things they said about each other.. Also, hearing Bill Clinton saying that they played the race card on them South Caolina would be fun.

    The sad thing is that I like the acting of the leads; Moore, Harrelson, and Harris. Just notin this mode.

      The really great movie would be the story of Hilary, Soros, and the shadow government he has funded for her. She is just waiting in the wings for this election to crash in riots and arson and then she and Bill will step forward to the call of the mobs for saviors. She was McCains running mate which tells me she was a) either a political opportunist or is b) just like McCain, a big Gov progressive. No fan of Mitt(Obama lite) either, I voted for Santorum 2012!

    Read her book, Going Rogue…..this movie has great music and big names, but it is a big lie……I would find a movie about the last four years in the White House….more entertaining…
