JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A conservative nonprofit group is running radio ads in Alaska portraying U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski as a spoiled princess trying to hold onto a seat her father gave her.
The ad by Pennsylvania-based Let Freedom Ring is airing in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau. The size of the buy wasn’t immediately provided.
The ad doesn‘t endorse Murkowski’s Republican rival, tea party favorite Joe Miller.
After Miller defeated Murkowski in the primary, she mounted a write-in campaign, saying she was encouraged to do so by Alaskans wanting a choice between Miller’s “extremist” views and the “inexperience” of Democrat Scott McAdams, a small-town mayor.
Murkowski was appointed to the Senate seat held by her father when he became governor in 2002, and won it outright in 2004.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 6:58pmdont you people know that in order not to promote Liza Murnelski’s write in bid, you are supposed to spell her name incorrectly and differently every time you use it. It an internet thing that has caught on with all the cool kid conservatives.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 6:57pmRepublicans should have stepped in and ended this. Alaska has legally spoken, and it‘s not like Murkowasaki didn’t have her shot already. She can go on the lecture tour with Pelosi in a few weeks.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 6:33pmLisa Murkowski is a perfect example as to why we need term limits for these offices. Nobody is that good to have more than two terms. After two terms they think they own the office and it is their right to sit there not the peoples. Hopefully she will spend herself into debt and then we won’t hear any more from her. I don’t like to be negative towards a Republican. But when they won’t go quitely into the night. Then they need to be booted from their pedistal.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 4:36pmTo get term limits, there will have to be a Constitutional Amendment. Can be done ONLY if the request originates with the people in their states.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 5:22pmTerm limits are a horrible idea.
What we need is a repeal of all the “Campaign finance reform” laws, a.k.a “Incumbeny Protection Statutes” that make it next to impossible for regular folks to win a national office.
On that rare occassion that we get decent folks past the firewall of “Incumbency Protection”, I’d prefer they stay there a while.
All term limits will do is place more power in the hands of the party. And all we’ll get is a never-ending stream of party puppets like we get now.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 7:23pmContra – We The People dont need a law to enforce term limits we just hold to the truth that power corrupts even well intentioned people and we create the tradition of voting them out of office.
Prospero – eventually they will be corrupted too, the next thing you know we are back in the same boat again.
Heavyduty – Its called impeachment for treasonous actions and violations of the oath of office and plurality and confilct of interest violations by holding the positions he has within the U.N.

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 12:31amI’d like to see a modified term limits law. 12 years in elected office followed by at least 12 years out of elective office, after which a person can run again for up to 12 more years if they feel so motivated.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 4:17pmTis the silly season when the loonies come out. Lisa is one of the problems of an entitlement mind set. A limited government coupled with term limits is much stronger. Murckowski ,Castle and others who turn to independent status are on a losing train with no stops to the end station.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 3:59pmI like this ad. Murkowski is acting like a spoiled brat. This is part of the problem in Washington. These politicians think they “own” their seats. They are put there by us and serve at our pleasure. They do not “own” the seats and their “power” can be taken away and should be taken away when they act like this woman is acting.
On a side note, the Obama administration is burning books, just like they did in Nazi Germany. It’s disgusting but true.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 10:58pmSicboy. Whitman hired her houskeeper through an employment agency. All of her documentation was in order. They’ve even made all of the documents available for public record. She fired her immediately upon learning she was here illegally.
At least if somebody is going to mount a smear campaign and rely on scumbaggery politics, make sure the accusations are actually true. Most people don’t like mudslinging polotics anyway, when the stuff being said is also clearly false and easily rebuked they tend to turn on the attacker.

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 2:48amHey SICBOY, isn’t that why people had a problem with on the AZ law. Are you saying that Whitman should have checked her legal status because she was Latino. Isn’t that profiling? If all of her documents were in order she should have checked anyway because she looked illegal?

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 9:47am@CO-CONSERV, no knuckle head. It’s called protecting your family. If i’m going to hire someone to come into my house, clean, cook whatever. I’m going to spend a couple hundred bucks out of my millions too look into that persons back ground. There is also a program out there for employers to check to see if a person is using a real SSN. BTW, How does a person look illegal?
Report Post »CO-CONSERV
Posted on October 1, 2010 at 1:19amHey SICBOY, I am not sure why you went with the personal attack, I asked a legitimate question. let me ask it another way. If I go to an employment agency and hire a person that is vouched for by that agency and they have all of the right documents then why should I have to pay a couple hundred dollars to confirm this? Is it because she has millions and therefore she should? What if she was like most Americans and did not have the extra money, would she still need to do this? Where do you draw the line of checking on people? “It’s called protecting your family. If i’m going to hire someone to come into my house, clean, cook whatever.” If I hire someone to work in my yard, replace my roof, do an upgrade on my basement, etc. All of these people are going to come into my home, should I spend the money to check each one? And if I don’t should I be lambasted in the media for not knowing that they were illigal? As far as looking illigal, my question is if this was a caucasion women, would there have been this much media coverage? You could reply with a response to the questions or just call me names again, your choice.
