‘One of the Least Successful Speeches’: Leftists Attack Liberal Newsweek Editor For Criticizing Obama

President Obama delivered a campaign speech Thursday in an attempt to reinvigorate his base and present a gleaming vision of America’s economic future.
How did it go? Well, considering the fact that even a very liberal MSNBC panel on “News Nation with Tamron Hall” agreed that the speech fell flat – it probably could’ve gone better.
“I thought this, honestly, was one of the least successful speeches I’ve seen Barack Obama give in several years,” Newsweek editor Jonathan Alter said. “It was long winded. He had a good argument to make, and at the beginning of the speech he seemed to be making it in a fairly compelling way but then he lost the thread.”
He continued, “And the speech was way too long and I think he lost his audience by the end.”
Zachary Karabell, Daily Beast columnist and economist, echoed many of Alter’s sentiments, saying the president started his speech well, but it quickly went off the rails.
“When he went, sort of, away from offense and on to defense, ‘what we’ve done and what we’re going to do,’ it became unbelievably diffuse and, in some sense purely as a political phenomenon it was very ineffective in that respect because it very well characterized the opponents as ‘this is not going to work’ but it didn’t really give you the sense of what will,” Karabell said.
While the panel was seemingly on the same page, Hall continually attempted to clarify and prop up Obama’s statements.
Halls argued that Obama was arguing that GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s policies would be the same as the ones “that resulted in the disaster that we saw with this economy.”
“And that’s a powerful argument to make,” Alter replied.
“It is,” Hall agreed.
“It didn’t work in 2010. But it can work, properly framed, in 2012,” Alter added.
Now most would say that Alter was genuine and honest in his critique of the president’s speech. But as is often the case, members the left have assembled and have apparently gone after Alter for daring to say anything critical of Obama.
The Newsweek editor soon took to Twitter to respond to some of the insults hurled at him.
“Just cheerleading BO doesn’t help him. He needs a sharper, more cogent message with some memorable lines. I ain’t walking my criticism back,” he tweeted.

Posted on June 14, 2012 at 8:26pmLiberals are getting very disheartened, which is good. They know that the “blame Bush” stuff really won’t work with the oh-so-precious independents. Most people don’t remember the Bush years as being bad economically, because they weren’t. Gas was cheap, unemployment low, we recovered quickly from 911, and late in the game the housing bubble burst.
Using Chris Matthew’s example, if you buy a house and find out that it’s a wreck, you blame the guy you bought it from. Bad example, Tingles, because Obama’s owned the house for three and a half years. He doubled the mortgage and instead of fixing the roof, he blew it all on vacations and golf. Time to get someone in there who’ll fix it up and pay off the mortgage,

Posted on June 14, 2012 at 8:06pmOk, I challange someone to go back and make some sense out of what Karabel said. I read it twice and kept thinking, huh? Even the ones trying to explain it are twisted. The president blew this speech bad, and some of those people must have been thinking about it when they left, or they all are brain dead.

Posted on June 14, 2012 at 7:30pmScary thing to me is that knowing all of his policies have failed miserably, still HALF of Americans will vote Obama for another term. Man, if only we could also vote the stupid half out of this country, just make them leave it, we could finally fix all that ailes it. Ahhh, only in a perfect world.

Posted on June 14, 2012 at 7:00pmI am becoming convinced that obama does not really want to be re-elected. Sure, he loves destroying America from the top down, and he loves not actually having to work for a living, and he loves 24/7 protection and having taxpayers foot the bill for his fun and games, but, he simply has not shown any indication that he likes being president or wants a second term.
Now that Michelle has had her plastic surgery, skin lightening and liposuction at taxpayer expense and the entire obama family has a solid-gold Cadillac health-plan for life, and now that obama is a racial martyr and can claim to be an oppressed victim for the rest of his idiot life, there is no reason for him to have to get up every morning, shave and act like he doesn’t hate America any longer. Come on, the obamas know that their eviction notice has already been printed up – and that they will be moving back to their millionaires’ enclave in Chicago soon – they simply cannot be so stupid as to think that they will be living in the White House after January (can they?).

Posted on June 14, 2012 at 7:08pmI have to disagree with you on one portion; that of him not wanting to be reelected, what he seems to be undergoing is the collision of reality with his narcissistic, radical ideology insanity. He is unable to accept blame for his actions and deeds, and as his world crumbles and crashes down, he becomes more and more out of touch with reality, and soon will be capable of any extreme measures he deems necessary to hold onto power.

Posted on June 14, 2012 at 7:17pmI’ve wondered for a while whether his plan may be to lose. Everyone knows what is coming – and it ain’t good. If he’s out of office when it hits, he gets to go back to organizing – this time openly socialist. He becomes the gov’t in exile, organizing OWS, SEIU and all the rest of the kook fringe, making them respectable. In 2016 he runs as an open socialist.
Let’s face it – if the guy really is a revoluntionary, he can’t start a revolution from the oval office.

Hive mentality is hilarous to watch because if any individuality is noted the liberal borg seek it out and destroy it before they are ‘infected’ with intelligence. remember libs need someone else to cook, clean, give them an job, think, and take the blame for them, and they actually think they are intelligent and leaders.
