‘One of the Worst Cases’: Couple Who Forced Children to Eat Own Vomit Arrested

Call the producers of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. A recent arrest in Oklahoma has unearthed a story so grisly it might make for the next season finale. The criminals’ names are Laura and Aubrey Thomas, and their alleged rap sheet is terrifyingly extensive. For those who are easily disturbed, now would be a good time to stop reading. The details will follow after these photos of the two:
For those still reading, in brief, the couple are accused of:
- Beating their children with a paddle nicknamed “Mr. Awesome.”
- Forcing their children to eat horse manure
- Forcing their children to eat their own vomit
- Forcing their children to perform oral sex on each other in exchange for being fed
- Forcing any child who wet the bed to sleep with their urinated-in underwear in their mouth
- Home schooling the students and coaching them to keep quiet
How bad was this? It apparently took one of the children getting institutionalized after running away before the silence was broken. For more, watch this local news report from Fox 23 Oklahoma:
The Daily Mail reports one investigator saying, “To Treat a child like that is beyond my imagination.” They have likened the treatment to torture.
Local news sources go a bit more in-depth. According to Fox 23, the husband’s crimes were mostly of omission, in that he did nothing to stop the abuse while his wife “instigated” it. They also reveal this nugget, which seriously calls the competence of Oklahoma’s child protective services into question:
This isn’t the first time the Thomas’s parenting skills have been questioned. The couple became foster parents in 1997 according to DHS. A decade ago they took in six children when they lived in Rogers County. DHS removed two of the six children from their home after finding evidence that they had been abused in 2003, but allowed the four children involved in this case to stay with the couple.
One only hopes that this revolting story has either been exaggerated, or that those responsible will face the ultimate justice.

How hard is it to realize that in the vast majority of cases anyone taking in more than 2 foster children are doing it for the money, not the children.

Posted on March 16, 2012 at 7:48amWow, this just makes me sick to my stomach. DHS DID fail these kids. I have custody of my one year old grandaughter, and they pay plenty of attention to me. I have a monthly scheduled visit from a social worker, a guardian ad litem, and developmental assesments that are pre scheduled for me.
My daughter is an addict – my other daughter is getting her masters in social work specializing in military. I wonder how much attention bad families get, when they waste so much time on us. We are good people.

Furthermore, why didn’t DHS turn them in for said abuse of the first two? And how come DHS didn’t make periodic visits to inspect the home and check for evidence of further abuse, if they were going to leave the other four children there?

It also let‘s degenerates off the hook for their actions by insinuating they truly aren’t responsible. Most abuse victims don’t abuse others. I thin it’s more likely people like this are just evil, and decide to be evil.
By the way the Daily Mail says the little girls were forced to eat gum of the husbands penis so I don’t think this write up is complete.

These four teens are messed up for life. All they know is how to live in the worst way possible. The State should be forced to pay for all their mental and physical needs for the rest of their lives. Oh yeah, the nitwit(s) who were in charge of their cases should be fired, immediately.

Posted on March 16, 2012 at 12:46amMay God have mercy on these people. I live just a few miles from Sperry (my kids went to Sperry schools ) and it is just 15 minutes from downtown Tulsa. It is a small community with the school being the focal point. Its not an affluent community but as far as I’ve seen its always been a friendly place to be. These people will NEVER be able to show their faces in public around here, and rightly so. My heart is breaking for these babies and I’m torn between praying for these so called “parents” and hoping they string them up on the nearest tree! This was on the news tonight and I’ve been sick to my stomach ever since I saw it. Oklahoma DHS has been NOTORIOUS for letting abused children stay with the parents and it has resulted in several deaths. I heard the man has been released on bond….UNIMAGINABLE to me. I pray these children are able to overcome this horrendous torture and that they are able to find peace.

Even if adults have been through abuse themselves or they are being abused they should never harm a child. There are many people that are foster parents just for the money. They are not healthy people capable of parenting children. However; they are allowed to “parent” children and receive money to cover those “expenses”. That needs to be cut out!
As far as those overseeing these children they are the bottom of the barrel. On occasion when you do have one decent SW he or she is swimming upstream trying to make sound judgements in the best interest of children. However; that collides with what you are allowed to do by your supervisor and etc. An example is the SW who repeatedly warned that a child shouldn’t be placed back with her father. She was and a short time later her father killed her. The SW then committed suicide because there were many signs that validated the little girl never should have been returned to her father’s care.
This is a symptom of our society-no value on the family. There is probably alcohol, drugs, pornography in the “home” as well. Notice how fat the woman is herself? She wasn’t missing any meals. My heart is heavy for these children because the things they have endured will present many struggles. God bless them. They need a real home with a loving family; one that will not have to work through a multitude of behavioral issues as a result of severe abuse.

I don‘t think He has extra special mercy for child torturers and I’m not asking Him for that. What they did is unspeakably horrible and God will decide what to do with them when they die.
