I‘ve never owned a slave nor has any member of my family all the way back to 1633 and today’s generation of Blacks has NEVER been a slave, except for their servitude to the “entitlement” programs. Gosh, almost any race can find a period of slavery in its history. I seem to recall where thousands of years ago, the Jews, a white race, were slaves to the Egyptians, a black race, for a period of at least 400 years!! I’m also sick of the hyphenated titles … can’t we all just be Americans? Thanks for letting me vent.

No, you may not have owned slaves or anything like that, but things for people of color are still completely crappy compared to people who are white. But if she was in jail when she went into labor, there may have been a good reason to chain her to the bed – we don’t know from this story what she did to end up in jail in the first place. It has nothing to do with her nationality or skin color; she was in jail, and that’s that. It‘s not the color of skin that determines a person’s value. It’s what is in their heart and their mind. It feels like the race/color thing is a big game to divide the country and take our focus off what is really important. If we can all try to see each other without colored lenses, we can better unite against the real enemies we have. And those enemies come in every color, shape and size.

Standard practice when transporting inmates for medical reasons. The story doesn’t say why the woman was in jail to begin with, but it doesn’t matter, she had done something that landed her in jail.

I feel those on welfare or on some form of government assistance should be or should be sterilized and/or punished for having more kids that they can’t take care of. I highly doubt this woman was chained up just because she was brown blue or whatever. She was probably breaking the law. i.e. possibly because she is an ILLEGAL alien. By definition illegal means breaking the law. I am tired of hearing the term illegal immigrant. They are not immigrating, they are exploiting our country by taking jobs these people on welfare should be doing. These people are breaking the law, not paying taxes, exploiting our welfare and government aid systems so they can go back to mexico and live like kings. This is BS and it needs to stop. Rise up and be proud men and women. Most all Negroes I knew growing up were proud, very hard working people, gracious, generous, kind, loving, supporting. They were NOTHING like the al sharptons, jj’s, and the vile black women in the congress.

I don’t believe it is the governments job to take care of the poor, it is the Church’s job to do that, if the Church (and all Christians) would practice what they preach, rather than let the government handle it, we would not be in this mess. Helping people out of poverty is not the same as giving them hand outs, it involves giving them a hand UP and teaching them the things they did not learn in school or in their home, and it WORKS! When my oldest son moved back home, we were ‘helping’ him get back on his feet after a job loss. After 6 months, he was no further ahead, unemployed, and comfortable to lay around and not do much. I finally showed him the door, and lo and behold, in less than a week he found a job, a place to live, and now has a car and a life. We do people no favors when we absorb or remove their responsibility and enable and subsidize their failure.

I want them to WORK for it, just like I do, and have had to do for 25 years. My wife stays home as both adopted kids are somewhat special needs. OUR CHOICE. OUR RESPONSIBILITY. Period.
IF people would accept responsibility for their own actions and choices, then this argument would be over. But everyone is OWED something, and it’s never from themselves. It‘s always from someone else’s pocket. Sounds like self imposed slavery to me. Dependant on someone else for everything.

I C&P this morning, so I could get back to you later, and I found most of the comments had been deleted. I’m afraid free speech and serious debate went out the window when Betsy took over.
In re your question, why do I have to explain this to you of all people? In America, the hyphen denotes that you are a racial/ethnic minority. It was a liberal invention, allegedly to celebrate heritage, but in reality its purpose was to create division (that’s how I see it, anyway). So African-American is synonymous with black American.
However, as you well know, not all blacks are American, and not all Africans are black. People born in Africa are identified as being from the COUNTRY where they were born. So while Kenya is in Africa, a person born in Kenya is Kenyan. Yes, you can label people as being from a continent, but that is usually because outsiders are not very familiar with the individual countries. (Cont.)

What she said is accurate although for differing reasons. Again, as a percentage of population she is dead on in her assumption that she abhors. Now, are there “white people” who also fall in to a category that is similar to the Illegal Alien in that she is unfit to provide for the baby? Yes. I am pointing out that AS A PERCENTAGE OF POPULATION, “brown people” inordinately fall in to a category of people who should not have children and especially illegal ones who are granted US citizenship by merely being pumped out on our soil. Really, Sinista. Illegals aren’t even American, and they now want to call themselves American. This discussion started because you identified the effects of Obama’s heritage, but you won’t delve into the roots. I was pointing them out. Obama is American, and I don’t deny that. He is also black. However, he is not African American, and it shows. Exposing that myth is not un-American. It is simply analyzing the facts. We now arrive at the larger issue, namely that libs have decided that redefining terms and concepts as one pleases is fine. Well, it ain’t. That attitude leads to societal breakdown, which is what we are currently experiencing.
