Oops: Cops Say Man Accidentally ‘Butt-Dialed’ 911 — While Stealing

Police in Connecticut have arrested a man they say accidentally called 911 while he was stealing scrap metal early Thursday morning.
According to Connecticut NBC affiliate WVIT-TV, a 911 dispatcher heard muffled background noises and used GPS technology to determine the caller’s location.
Southington Police arrived and reportedly found 46-year-old Michael Gorneau at a private business loading 700 lbs. of scrap metal from a dumpster into a pick-up truck.
“The gentleman thought he was going to get away with something and actually he butt-dialed himself and put himself away,” business owner John Norton told WVIT.
Gorneau was charged with criminal trespassing and larceny and has been released on $5,000 bond. He is due in court April 2.

Mordecai The Bluejay was driving and sitting on his phone, and accidentally dialed his girlfriend’s number while he was singing an erotic song to himself that he made up about her. Why do men put their phones in their butt pockets, anyway? You would think that it would be uncomfortable to sit on. That’s why jeans come with front pockets (duh).

In this town, “junkers” drive raggedy old pickup trucks all over town, picking up stoves, washing machines, refrigerators, dryers, and dishwashers that people put out at the curb for the garbageman when they suddenly conk out and the people are forced to upgrade. And if the junkman gets there before the garbageman does, he makes good money recycling those worn-out appliances. When you see his beat-up old pickup truck, you might think he’s poor. But he‘s got a nice house that’s paid for, and a Lexus in the garage. And he has put his kids through college. Just from junkin’.

Posted on March 24, 2012 at 2:33pmIf the dumpster was behind the gate that we saw in the video then the man is a thief and is guilty. If on the other hand the dumpster was outside of the gate that we saw that had the no trespassing sign on it then the scrap metal was fair game to anyone, so says the supreme court. Any trash that is NOT labled with a no trespassing sign is considered to be in the “public domain” and therefore is free to be removed by anyone at any time. In 1988 the Supreme Court ruled in California vs Greenwood that trash is public domain and unless otherwise labled, such as local recycling bins with the city name, or with a no trespassing sign, it is up for grabs to anyone that wants it.
I live in Daytona Beach and there is a law here against “ molestation of a trash can”. Meaning no trash picking. I was threatened with arrest for doing just that. Today I carry with me, in my van, three letters, one from the chief of police, one from the mayor and one from the city council instructing any and all police officers to leave me alone as I am well within my rights. Its the only time I ever actually taught the police their job.
Basically if the dumpster was outside the gates the guy is not guilty unless there was a no trespassing sign on the dumpster, it the dumpster was behind the gates that were CLEARLY marked no trespassing he’s screwed.
