The Olympic torch was splashed out briefly Saturday during a trip around a white water rafting course in the London area.

According to the Telegraph, 20-year-old British junior team canoeist Zachary Franklin held the torch aloft during a ride on the slalom course at the Lee Valley White Water Center. He “kept the flame well away from the water” until the speed and splashing evidently proved too much.

The torch was relit by a backup flame once it was back on dry land.

“It is not uncommon for a flame to go out and this can happen for a number of reasons,” a London Olympic organizing committee spokesman said, according to the Daily Mail. “In this instance it was due to water being splashed into the boat from the slalom course. It was relit from the mother flame, which is kept in a specially designed miners’ lantern and successfully taken down the course on the second attempt.”

Must take a lot of electricity to run the pumps to create this artifical kayak course. I feel sorry for the peope of London. Can you imagine the crowds, traffic jams, security? Best thing to do–spend a couple weeks out of town!

Comrade, communists believe only in the teachings of Karl Marx, so do you mean Mr. Marx is angry? After all, he is their God!

The Olympics has lost it’s true meaning and purpose.
All the political correctness and corruption has ruined the games.
For the first time in my life, I will not be watching.

What took you so long? I gave up on the Polympics 40 years ago when the whole Eastern Bloc used to vote AGAINST western countries instead of FOR the best Athlete. Remember Beijing Polympics where a 13 year old got to compete? Oh, the Polympic committee researched and researched while the Polypmics finished, and then the committee just “let it go”. Remember the athlete’s website data mysteriously changing or vanishing?

The International Left and their Obama pals over here : clueless, naive, spend- thrifts who still haven’t figured out the goals of the Muslim Brotherhood, the chances of buying peace in Afghanistan with our tax dollars, and the potential difficulties of carrying a torch on a white water rafting show. Double Duh.

The clowns cannot run the Olympics properly, yet we want to base our financial and social programs after them?

Go back to GO! Bungee Jumping should be next, then sky diving. They should have contacted Mr ZIPPO he could have made it wind and water proof. Made in America…

      Can someone say ‘Predictable?”

If you gave these clowns an ice cube they would wonder why it melted while asbestos-rafting on a lava flow.

I agree. Omen was my very first thought.
Isn’t Scuba-Diving going to be an event soon? Maybe they’ll take the Olympic Flame “underwater” on the road trip to the next Olympic games. If it comes to the USA, that will somehow seem appropriate.
