Oops: Romney Gaffes, Introduces Ryan as the ‘Next President of the United States’

Mitt Romney’s picturesque introduction of Paul Ryan as his vice presidential running mate had one small glitch Saturday morning — when Romney called him “the next president of the United States.”
“Join me in welcoming the next president of the United States, Paul Ryan!” Romney declared to the crowd gathered in front of the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk, Va.
As Ryan descended from the ship to the cheers of the crowd and went up to the podium, Romney came up behind him to re-introduce him.
“Every now and then I’m known to make a mistake,” Romney said. “I did not make a mistake with this guy, but I can tell you this, he’s going to be the next vice president of the United States!”
Then-candidate Barack Obama made a similar slip-up during his 2008 introduction of Joe Biden to the ticket, calling him “the next president — the next vice president of the United States.”

Posted on August 11, 2012 at 11:25amThat’s funny. My Down Syndrome, autistic son (who has been known to ask for prayer for someone right before they have an accident or stroke) said basically the same thing. He saw he wasn’t going to be able to watch his show, and he complained that the President was on. When I turned it on, he saw Ryan, said, Paul Ryan, he replace Obama? Not wishing anything on Romney, but from his lips to God’s ears.

Posted on August 11, 2012 at 11:52amHe probably will be the next PRESIDENT of the United States after Romney is finished fixing this economy with Ryan’s help! Paul Ryan is the best “PR” we could hope for right now. He will energize the party and pull over the Independent voters and pull away a LOT of Democrats that are sick and tired of Barack Hussain Obama taking us closer and closer to communism and Sharia Law. It is past time to begin RE-FOUNDING this Nation under GOD.

Posted on August 11, 2012 at 12:28pmAgree with you SEOHIO. I was disappointed when PR decided not to run for president. However, he’s young, energetic, brilliant, connects with people, and being VP gives him great exposure. There’s hope that his day in the White House will be forthcoming.
I would even like to see a Paul Ryan/Rand Paul election down the road. Kind of a tongue twister and may look a little like bookends, but what a win that combo would make!

We need to pray for God’s protection over all. Please let me jump in here. Most people more than 2 states away from Chi Town do our best not to remember the disasters that IL politics give us! That’s why b o and the cabal are so maddening, they put it “In Your Face” and remind us a little leaven, leaveneth the whole loaf”. (Jesus Christ)
Most of us don’t even remember who George Ryan was, just figure another IL Crooked Politician! Posted on August 11, 2012 at 10:39amThat’s just fantastic. Americans are smart – they know a politician is lying because the politician’s lips are moving. Therefore most Americans vote on economy, and the persona of the politician. A lot of Americans are coming to be aware the economy is in trouble no matter what, and people know Romney had universal healthcare in Massachusetts as governor, and therefore people know he will bring it as President. Most people know he will back-peddle on a broad number of issues once elected. Therefore a large percentage of this election rests on persona. Americans like an underdog, but not a wimp – Americans like it when people have the odds against a particular person whereby the flows of nature is stacked against them, but a strong individual cuts through that flow. The President keeps repeating the same old narrative, and many people will come to think that maybe it is true, and Romney is starting to look bullied. Romney is starting to look like the poor scolded child who everyone wants to buck-up, but he doesn’t seem to want to buck-up – Romney is kind of doing a McCain thing. Americans like a winner, and Romney is starting to not look like a winner; they like nice teeth; nice smile, and plastic surgery. Paul Ryan won‘t help Romney’s campaign, because people know Romney will be the President, and not Ryan. Even with George Bush – progressives tried to make the narrative be that Dick Cheney was pulling the strings – the average American thought it was George Bush Sr.

The Presidency is important, but ONLY one branch of Government IF we elect a President who believes in the Constitution and freedoms it gives us. It will take Congress to undo most of what b o ‘s done to this country. If Romney keeps half his promises and we get both Houses, OUR COUNTRY SURVIVES AS A FREE NATION!

I agree with you on the fact all politicians are liars. I also agree with you that the Romney campaign needs to attack the Obama administration on their failed record. Hmmm I must be still drunk from last night if I’m agreeing with WatersPeople having said that I do believe Romney will repeal ObamaCare which is a federal institution where as Romneycare was done on a state level. Big difference because with it being done on a state level you can still vote with your feet.
PS I love the VP pick shows Romney does have a sack, even if he is tucking it most of the time.

Posted on August 11, 2012 at 2:12pmYep, Grams, I think the American people are finally getting smart. Sure, I’d wish Romney would put up his dukes, but that’s not who he is. Real leaders don’t denigrate their opponents on a regular basis, they wait for the right time to say what’s needed, not like some whiny types we’ve seen on the other side who were raised in the mud, hanging with the Choom gang, smoking and whatever else that’s caused brain damage.
