Last Friday Oprah hosted her annual “Favorite Things” episode, where she gave away 22 of her favorite things to an unsuspecting audience, including a seven-day cruise. But in an unprecidented move, Oprah hosted a second consecutive day of giveaways on Monday– a “Favorite Things” part 2. This episode included a free i-Pad and a Volkswagen Beetle for all 275 audience members.
Not surprisingly, the audience freaked out again, especially after having thought they had missed the final ever “Favorite Things” episode (filmed earlier in the day). Here’s a rundown of the gifts included in “Favorite Things” part deuce:

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 3:27pmYes, yes, Have Gun Will Travel.
That was a great show, starring Richard Boone. He was an ugly dude, but with a good heart, unless he was hired to come get you.
Have Gun Will Travel reads the card of a man.
A knight without armor in a savage land.
His fast gun for hire head’s the calling wind.
A soldier of fotune is the man called Paladin.
Paladin, Paladin

Paladin, Paladin,
Far, far from home.

Report Post »Speaking of women in television, where‘s your story about Palin’s massive ratings drop? You were quick to post an article about her first week’s ratings but yet nothing about the 40% drop in viewers (in one week!! wait til next week), the dismal 885,000 viewers in the key 18-49 demo, or the fact that the average age of viewers is 57!?!? Is it because it doesn’t fit your narrative of her being a rock star and a major political personality? Face it, she is only relevant to handful of bitter retirees with some sort of naughty librarian fetish.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 10:53pmActually, giving moon pies and hunny buns to the food bank is a poor idea. The people that go to the food pantries need food that they can feed to families, not snack foods. Eight-track tape deck, hand-painted hood and fenders, there was a lot of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll that took place in that car. Surprisingly, anything could be done in that VW. Somehow I survived those dangerous years and these days I am as clean as the driven snow…but I would love to have another Beetle. They all do it and at the same time call for higher taxes to fund their pet projects from the public. Quite the game they have going, ask to see their W-2 and see what they really are paying. Posted on November 23, 2010 at 4:45pmDo you want to know why “free” is so enticing? It‘s because it’s so rare.
Everybody loves free and free is good, so long as it’s charitable. When free simply means spending someone else’s money against their will, it’s very bad.
Make no mistake, I’m an expert at this. In fact it‘s my one singular specialty that I’m extraordinarily good at. I‘ve put trillions on my uncle Sam’s credit card. Not my money – don’t care.
With the help of the progressive socialist democrats, I promised and delivered the illusion of “free” socialized medicine, despite financially failing whenever it’s tried elsewhere. Not my money – don’t care.
My campaign convinced millions of voters supposedly empathetic with the downtrodden underdog, to cast their lot in with mine because their mindset of also being victimized by society, easily justified their wild expectations of endless unearned freebies from me. Most were driven or perhaps blinded, solely by their own self interests. Concerns or delusions about socialism were easily disguised as long overdue punitive corrections toward social and material parity.
Voters with this avenging victimized mindset shamefully embraced the dictum of from each according to their ability, to each according to their need. Either they did not realize or did not care, that this is a primary tenet of communism. Individually they were willing to trade their precious vote, their single best instrument for preserving personal liberty, for a free lunch, free gas, a free car, a free kitchen, a free mortgage or in other words, a free ride at someone else’s expense.
Naturally I was happy to oblige by giving the appearance of intending to satisfy all the unearned expectations of those who have childishly abandoned any sense of personal responsibility. Little do they know or even care that cumulatively, such a pervasive malignant unearned entitlement mentality is of course unsustainable and eventually proves financially ruinous to any nation.
This reality somehow escaped the majority of voters who mistakenly placed their confidence in ambiguous empty promises of hope and change. To my amazement, each time I uttered the vague catch phrase “Yes we can” to the roar of adoring badly duped crowds or the unquestioning media, I couldn’t help thinking to myself, well maybe yes I can… and I have!
Honoring the eligibility clause of the Constitution requiring one to be a natural born citizen defined as being born in the U.S. of TWO U.S. citizen parents, should have stopped me. Simple mathematics in the form of accurate cost projections for my endless promises could have stopped me. Just as most snake oil salesman and confidence men through out history have long known, a little common sense could have stopped me.
Why didn’t it? Everybody loves something for free.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 5:04pmThis is not nearly the kind of gift it appears to be because when someone wins a car or a trip, they have to declare it on their income taxes and add in the value of the gift into their regular declared income or something like that. I don’t understand exactly how it works, but trust me, the IRS does. Also, the people who were given the cars? Uh, they might have to think again because there will be taxes, titles, fees and insurance to pay. On a car that costs $10,000 the tax in my state would be $600. Okay, it’s great if you have the $600 handy, but if you weren’t planning on something like that, well….it might be more frustrating to have been given the gift and not be able to afford it.
So, all that glitters may not be gold on this deal.
