Oprah: ‘Happy to Be of Service’ to Obama in 2012

Oprah Winfrey‘s daytime talk show is over, but her adulation for President Obama is far from it.

Winfrey is “happy to be of service” for Obama’s reelection campaign, she said in a statement Wednesday. “I supported Barack Obama in 2008 because I believed then as I do now that he is the right man for the job,” she said.

Back in ‘08, Winfrey’s backing of Obama helped him bring down the most well-known well-oiled campaign machine: Bill and Hillary Clinton. When she first interviewed Obama in a 2004 issue of her magazine “O,” the queen of daytime said, “[W]hen I decided to talk with you (Obama), people around me were like, ‘What’s happened to you?’ I said, ‘I think this is beyond and above politics.’ It feels like something new.”

This time, Winfrey will have to acknowledge more than “something new;” she‘ll have to talk about Obama’s record. And with unemployment teetering around 9 percent and the president’s approval rating hitting new lows, energizing voters (white working-class women in particular) will likely be a bigger struggle than it was in ‘08.

Winfrey’s daytime show ended in May. Since then, she has taken on the role of CEO at the Oprah Winfrey Network, her cable venture that has struggled to find its place in a sea of competing channels.

  Do not dismiss her as a has been or wash up she still has power and a massive following. This is the concern I have and mentioned periodically here about the machine behind BHO. There are countless zombie drones that take every word of hers as the final word. Regardless that she is gone that following of hers will vote her way. Even though those in her flock see how bad things are they see Oprah is still there at Emperor Obamas side. She says support him I guarantee you the majority of zombies in her flock will listen and vote accordingly….. they will also gladly open up their wallets and checkbooks donate to his campaign. You can be sure Oprah is one of the attendees of the Chicago B-Day bash paying the $35000, she probably brought cash!

  What a surprise!! I agrree on not counting her out. Last I heard, she was pulling in 300 million a year. . Guess she figures she could give 95% and still be sitting pretty. What would that leave her…$15 million a year to live on? Poor thing.

  That is absolutely astounding on Oprah’s part. I can’t stand her show, but I thought the woman was much smarter than that, I mean, how do you become a billionaire, you must have to be pretty smart I would imagine. But this, this is utterly amazing that a smart woman such as Oprah would not see through the delusion.

  Come on people, Oprah is just like every other person of colour that supported Obama. Most, if not all, supported him simply because of his skin colour. During the campaign, somebody called Hannity’s radio show and said he was voting for Obama. When asked why, he said, “Because he’s black”. Sean thought about it for a moment and said, “But that’s racist. If I said I was voting for McCain simply because he was white, wouldn’t you think it was racist?”. “Yeah” said the guy. “So why isn’t what you aaid racist?”. “Because it isn’t.” said the guy. There are a number of black people who believe a black person can’t be racist. Hate to break it to them, but racism knows no colour boundaries. Racism is wrong, whoever espouses it.

  @Redanqui What do you mean she’s a capitalist and are we against capitalism?..No… we are not. But then why would someone such as her and other filthy rich people be for taking all of the earner’s money away to redistribute the wealth. This money will be taken from people who are currently in business, not from the ones who have already made it, such as her at 300 million a year and Soros who made 2 or 3 billion off the bailouts. You won’t see any of those people having to give their money away. They’ve made more money thatn they could ever spend in several lifetimes..Oprah off of tv drones, and Soros off of taxpayer’s money. The only people who will never have a chance at having anything will be the people who are not wealthy already. This will cease to be the land of opportunity, and be a land of the tyrants and the slaves. All of the people wanting the handouts will find that out.

  I don’t care for Oprah or our President, however, Oprah worked many years to achieve the fame, etc. she has gained. So why would you want to steal her money and achievements. Get your own. No one forced not one person to follow her show or watch her for the years that she was on. I became dis-enchanted with her quite a few years. If you want her money to be taken from her, then you should ask for Al Gore’s, Slick Willy – Clinton, George Soros, Hugh Hefner lol! others. Just vote this guy and congress out in 2012.

Does this mean that the Obama family are now members of Oprey’s new Church, she’s suppose to have 8million followers world wide. Obviously now Oprey will be tax exempt for her church and l expect she will channel everything she can through it. Does Oprey or will she pay 50-60% of all her wealth over to the TAX man, surely she should, O of course she’ll be tax exempt now she as her own church.Wonder why the President doesn’t have friends who pay their fare share,say 50-60% Tax.

Oprah, if you support this man I hope it’s after you’ve taken an objective look at what he’s done for the nation (the economy, our reputation & ranking in the world, the wars, etc.) to include minorities (unemployment rates, wealth gap, opportunities, etc.) & not just ‘cuz he’s half black.

  Forget that one. With their high paid accountants, they have enough legal/illegal expenses, the cut their taxes to lower than most of can do. They want the rich to pay more knowing they can claim everything and still pay lower taxes in the long run.

  Never was a huge Oprah fan. I liked the fact that she was a self-made millionaire/billionaire. I also appreciated her ethics “to whom much is given, much is expected.” But, when she threw her support behind the Obama machine she lost all credibility with me. It was a poor decision on many levels. Since then, I have not contributed to her wealth one-iota. If she supports him again she will lose a lot of her fan base, IMO.

  Noticed his last movie didn’t do that well.
  These sorry, good for nothing “hollyweird types” are so off my list. Very few exceptions. I’ll avoid them at the theaters and on TV.
