Oregon Business Owner Claims Liberal Customer Slapped Him Over Anti-Obama Sign

“Hey Obama, I built my business by myself, you lousy incompetent excuse for a President.”

These are the words that may have earned Oswego, Oregon business owner Kevin Kerwin, who calls himself “Kevin the Geek,” a palm to the face. Indeed, Kerwin claims that a sign he posted outside his store, bearing precisely these blunt words, induced a woman to enter his store with no intention to do anything other than slap him for bad-mouthing Obama.

Kevin “The Geek” got an interesting customer yesterday at his Lake Oswego based business. A Dunthorpe doyenne entered his store, began berating the businessman for his anti Obama sign, and when he insisted he wouldn’t take it down, slapped him. He threatened to call the cops but she left and then shuffled across the street and lost herself in the stores and parking lot.[...]

He didn‘t get a picture or see her vehicle and doesn’t know her name so did not report her to police.

In the absence of corroborating evidence, it’s difficult to know for sure exactly what happened. However, there is evidence that this wasn’t the only angry response Kerwin received for his sign. One liberal posted the following note on his business’ window in response to the sign:

And if he was slapped for putting it up, that was clearly the wrong response. Hopefully, this story will be resolved properly.

    His TAXES paid for the roads, the sewers, the services. ONLY PEOPLE WHO PAY TAXES “BUILD THAT”. Where do the democratic fools and idiots think money comes from to “build” infrastructure and support their worthless lives? FROM PEOPLE WHO PAY TAXES. I suggest that in order to vote, one must show that they are tax payers, not leeches on the taxpayers backs.

      So did the people who work for Kerwin owe their paycheck to the government? After all, they use the roads too. I am sure Kerwin already gives half of his paycheck to govt. Seems the govt. should pay Kerwin fro hiring these people. Also, Kerwin matches taxes on his employees too. BTW, best sign I have seen so far.

      Even worse than that it’s not Federal taxes that paid for the water and roads, most of that was funded on the city and state level, there’s a reason they call them county roads, and most of the roads are in place of original dirt roads cut by the locals. And just think 4000 dollars a year for the average home owner in PA that’s what schools cost, and you’re telling me somehow the Fed did it all for us! The Fed does things like build huge Armys and go to the moon, the army core builds flood restraint systems.. so much else is state initiated and so many Democrats have no clue.

      Exactly! I can’t get it how these liberals think everyone is on Government welfare until they suddenly Make it. They didn’t pay school taxes long after their kids were raised and gone, they didn’t pay sales tax on anything, got it all back at the end of the year, they didn’t pay income tax or anything. They don’t have to pay their employees social security (matching fund), or their health care benifits. Everything is free, and they just ride on the taxpayers. Oh, wait, I just described 47% of Americans who get all or more than their taxes back.

      Charles Murray in his book “Losing Ground” provides this insightful thought experiment — If you and your spouse were gone tomorrow, what type of family would you select for your soon to be orphan children:

      Family A: married, both work, and are dirt-poor so your children would not have nice clothes and sometimes would go hungry, but they would ensure your children went to school, did their homework, and learned to live independently as they do.

      Family B: married, both don’t work, and receive lots of money from others so your children would have nice clothes, would never go hungry, but Family B would not ensure your children went to school or did their homework and by their example would not teach them to live independently.

      Which family would YOU choose for YOUR soon to be orphaned children?

      If you chose Family A, then WHY would you doom any other child to Family B — a Welfare Ward? Why would you continue to support the current welfare system you would not wish for your own children? Does someone else’s child deserve less than what you think is best for YOUR child?

      If you chose Family B, then WHY are you surprised that the number of people on food stamps is increasing and WHY there is generational dependency induced by the very programs intended to “resolve” them?

      Teachers, Firefighters and Police are paid by the STATES. Usually through property taxes. Businesses pay the lion share of property taxes, given commercial property is valued higher, and they tax all your EQUIPMENT too (down to desks and phones and even calculators). Roads and bridges are paid by fuel taxes, which are the most fair tax there is, since you pay per your use.

FROM PEOPLE WHO PAY TAXES.” Absolutely, and since out government is “We the People”, then why are all of you always up in arms about paying taxes. This was all Pres. Obama was trying to explain. Business owners didn’t get to where they are by themselves. “We the People” helped them by paying taxes to build the Federal roads that they use to transport their goods, subsidize farmers who grow the food that they sell in at their business, keeping the food safe that they eat and sell safe, etc., etc. etc. Their state and local governments would have helped by building schools, putting in utilities and sewers, maintaining local roads for safe transportation of their goods. No business could have made it without any of these things happening. So, while the President’s words were take wholly out-of-context by the right-wing-propaganda machine, he is correct in saying that no business owner got there on their own and that “We the People” helped them by utilizing our taxes for the common good. And yes, even though the 47% and possibly candidate Romney may have legally not paid any income tax, they do pay a lot of other federal, state and local taxes that help business owners out.

      I’m not sure I can help you since you seem to be not too bright, but here goes. What we object to is punishing success with MORE TAXES. Almost 50% of this country pays no taxes at all (and sorry it is a flat out LIE that the rich and Romney don’t pay taxes) and yet get access to all the same services that everyone else does. But those who go on to become successes in the same system are expected to pay more for having the nerve to acheive. That is immoral! And when government stops spending tax dollars on things like studying why Chimps throw their poop and are responsible with the money they receive, then we can talk more taxes.

      MtCountryGirl – Stop with the insults. It should be beneath anyone who wants to have an honest debate about the direction of our county. First of all, it is entirely untrue the 50% of American “do not pay taxes”. They just don’t pay income tax, just like many, many wealthy people in the country who use loopholes to bypass paying income taxes. If you want an equitable tax code, fight for it. But you can‘t do by defending the wealthy’s right and not the poors. Also, most of the 50% have full-time jobs that are very important for American to succeed. And while I applaud any one who takes the risk to start a business, they do need to remember, it took all kinds of taxes from EVERYONE in this wonderful country to help them succeed. And, while we’re at it, if you think its moral to tax a family of 5 making less than $40k a year the same rate as you can tax a multi-millionaire, then you need to rethink your morals.

      MtCountryGrl – Regarding your other post above, while it is true that firefighters, police, etc. are paid through local or state taxes, there are many necessary items that the federal government pays for to help businesses success. Also, depending where you live, not all “businesses pay the lion share of property taxes”. In my small city, in order to help out businesses of all kinds, we have passed business zoning laws to create “business zones” where businesses pay very little in property taxes. I don‘t know what it’s like in Montana, but this has really helped the businesses in our city and they are grateful, thanks to ALL the taxpayers in our small city.

      I am an accountant, I know who pays what in taxes. Not only do almost 50% of Americans pay no income taxes they get money back that they did not pay in to offset the taxes they do pay (social security and medicare) it is called the Earned Income Credit. I have seen people get $8000 back who did not pay in a dime (and they told me they were going to Disney Land with it)! The whole “rich use loopholes to not pay taxes” is a flat out liberal lie. The so called “loopholes” are nothing more than legal deductions just like the morgage interest and child credits you take. And the only “rich people” who end up paying no taxes are corporations that get green energy credits (like GE). Rich people pay lots of taxes! Even with all their allowed deductions (“loopholes”) the top 20% pays 90 percent of the tax burden, how can they be doing that if they are not paying taxes. We do not have a tax problem in this country, we have a SPENDING PROBLEM. Under Obama federal spending went from 20% of GDP (which is unGodly high) to 25% of GDP with entitlement programs making up 80% of the budget. But perhaps you think we should tax businesses more so we can fund Planned Parenthood, so PBS can be commercial free, and so scientists can get grants to study Chimp poop throwing, or so somebody can sit on their couch and have 12 tax payer supported children with Babies Daddies! – Because that stuff will grow the economy faster than letting businesses keep their money.

      You know what I support a 15% sales tax and capping federal spending at 15% of GDP. Take the taxes off of the beginning of goods and put it on the sale. This would make us competetive with countries like China (who have to ship goods) by taxing the end product and not everything along the way. It would draw companies and jobs back to the US. And if the government wants to spend more money than the 15% they can sell bonds to raise it. So if the people don’t support the war, the new entitlement program, etc. they won’t be able to raise the money to do it. Let liberals put their money where their mouth is and pony up their cash to pay for others birth control!

      Build the roads and use the school system. Really, is this all they have. These folks (business owners) paid taxes that employed union employees at Davis-Bacon wages 1.5 times what a private enterprise could have done it for. They pay taxes to a school system that uses more money per student than most parochial schools and gets tragic results. Want class warfare? Here it is, what entitles the non taxpayers to ANY government largesse. I am absolutely for helping people through a bad stretch or people with disabilities so severe they CANNOT work in any capacity. I am NOT in favor of paying for someone to retire at 18 and live off the sweat of the people who not only built “it” but funded “IT” as well. I see people with down’s syndrome bagging groceries and earning their way. Why not have the welfare folks:
      1. Maintain their substandard public housing.
      2. Watch each other’s kids so they can get a GED then vocational education.
      3. Shovel senior citizens driveways.
      4. Mow public parks.
      5. Paint over graffiti.
      6. Clear their neighborhoods of litter.
      7. Act as crossing guards.
      etc. etc. etc.
      No welfare for anyone under 35 not enrolled in college (community) or vocational school.
      No welfare for anyone not willing to have an IUD or norplant or depo-provera (at taxpayer expense), this is the only contraception I am willing to fund for someone else.
      No welfare for people not willing to be tested for drugs and immediate revocation for drug or alcohol offenses.

      It is necessary to go much farther than just being a taxpayer to be granted the right to vote. I suggest that unless an individual pays enough in taxes to offset his cost to the government, that he has no right to vote. Obviously, if a person does not contribute enough in tax to offset his costs, then he is a parasite, a leech, a tick, a flea.

Cars were invented because somebody wanted to go faster on the path (ROAD!) that was already present! People had water for millenia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Otherwise, how could we get to this day? PEOPLE build, government (who are US!) try to help not impede. When they want to impede then they voluntarily exit from US. Elite. They claim by education of philosophy and semantics. Superior. They claim by education which lasts longer than a real experience of physical life during a young persons mean time for it, that they are better to say what life should be. That is what a four year old child sasses back to their elders. Shame.

      Too bad the woman doesn’t realize that the municipal property taxes pay for the schools, the roads, and much of the infrastructure (sewers, etc.) Other utilities like electricity and water are paid for directly by the consumer/resident/property owner.

      I guess she slept through Civics 101.

      Where does goverment get the (monopoly) money to build roads, bridges, etc? From private sector businesses. Taxes are matched and taken out of each employee, and business venture. So. shut the hell up you moronic loser liberals and status suckers!

      Not to mention how much higher taxes and fees that small business owners, commercial businesses, and industrial businesses pay for those roads, highways, and utilities. Far, far more than the average home owner.
