O’Reilly & Imus Speculate About Beck’s Future on TV

Speculating about Glenn Beck’s future on TV is something of an amateur sport these days. And it is understandable that Don Imus would ask Bill O’Reilly for his thoughts this morning. Here’s what Bill had to say (transcript courtesy of Mediate):
“I don’t know, I mean, this guy is building quite an empire. Glenn Beck, like him or not, I mean he’s a savvy business guy. He’s building up – he’s got The Blaze, which is a very good website. . . . Television for me is my main deal, but not for him. So I guess it’s a business decision.”
To watch the clip go here.
And our thanks to Mr. O’Reilly for The Blaze shout-out!
More from Mediaite:
O’Reilly also listed Beck’s “powerful” radio show, Internet presence, and appearances throughout the country, concluding “he’s all over the place, so it’s a business decision that he’s going to make.” Imus joked that Beck’s radio show is “marginally good,” but since Imus also claimed “I love Beck,” it seems that he was slightly disappointed that Fox’s main guy wasn’t more optimistic that Beck would stay within the Fox family.
Glenn may have been watching Imus this morning, because he talked about the segment on the radio this morning:

Posted on April 5, 2011 at 11:11pm@Tarpush. LOL, I made a whole list of dream ticket people. I had Beck as Press Secretary. Mainly because it would cause the extreme left-wing to have Exorcist-like head spins 24/7. Had Paul Ryan as head of the budget, Ron Paul head of the Fed. It was a good list, I wish I hadn’t deleted it. The big ? was the Pres. Who? I‘d vote for the first breathing creature I could find that didn’t like the direction we’re going if it meant not have four more years of Obama.

Posted on April 5, 2011 at 7:24pmWhile Glenn has had a meteoric rise, he should not over estimate his ascendancy to journalistic heights. Many a man’s hubris has been his unraveling. Fame is fleeting, and fans can be fickle. Tread softly and wisely Mr. Beck, in that realm of mass popularity. It is the slipperiest of slopes, IMO.

Posted on April 6, 2011 at 3:04amCategorize it how you will, much of what I find out on Glenn’s show is “news” to me. And it’s much more interesting than mainstream media. Glenn is probably the biggest journalist on the tube today from the aspect that journalism is reporting “news” of interest to the viewer. I find out more “news” from him than just about any other source. Some people don’t consider Glenn a journalist? Okay, I don’t consider those doing news shows on the big networks to be journalists.

Posted on April 5, 2011 at 7:23pmI am always amused when O‘Reilly interjects Sarah Palin’s name in any possible way he can. After Palin’s name is mentioned, it is always followed with, “She tried to get her spin in instead of answering my question…..” The fact that she politely asked him to stop interrupting her during an interview several weeks ago has sent him into a tailspin and he still has not regained his composure. O‘Reilly’s obsession with Palin is analogous to Chris Matthew’s jealous obsession with Glenn Beck.

Too bad all those Fox studio people are union members. Some commentators apparently even belong actor/wrter guilds. I am sure none of them are happy with Glenn either. Look at the neckties of a lot of them whn Glenn talks about unions. SEIU, IBEW, AFL-CIO, Etc. color schemes. And on and on

Posted on April 5, 2011 at 8:19pmActually, for me, if it wasn‘t for Beck I wouldn’t watch Fox News. I stopped watching BOR over a year ago. Hannity’s ok but nothing to write home about, Geraldo’s a joke, the morning news program is about as fluffy as that other show I never watch, what is it oh yeah Regis and Ripka. If Beck goes that’s even less reason to watch Fox. It would be nice to see if Harris could spread her wings and get some shots like Megyn, too.

Posted on April 6, 2011 at 9:51amDo not get me wrong-I will watch Beck no matter where he is, even if it was MSNBC! And I personally do not believe he is a conspiracy theorist as he does produce facts.
I personally feel as though because his show is on a major network, the network lends credability, so to speak. Take Jesse Ventura. I am sure he believes what he says and you do not become a Navy SEAL without having one of the best heads on your shoulders but he is looking like another Alex Jones to the general public not for what he says but who backs him up.
The thing that is in my opinion based on my experiences, and again this is a place to post what we think, right? Anyhint of conspiracy theory is like religion when trying to communicate to those who see things different. People generally do not want things pushed on them factual or not-unless it has credibility. The more credibility, the more believable regardless of what is being said. Fox is the biggest credible news source out there. Even liberal friends of mine say when there is breaking news, they always “check Fox News” even though they despise Fox.
I hope this makes sense. Again, its just my opinion.

In what is shaping up to be one of the more effective boycott campaigns in years, advertisers are abandoning the “Glenn Beck” show on Fox News following the host’s incendiary comments that President Barack Obama is a “racist” and has a “deep-seated hatred for white people.”
Among the advertisers to pull spots his talk show are Geico, owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, Proctor & Gamble, Progressive Insurance and the list goes on and on.

RightsofBilly, I didn’t see your reference from “last night” but when your answer to a post is that someone is stupid that generally says more about you than them. I also don’t know what your “progressive insurance” means, but I understand enought to know that you don’t see the obvious.
Advertisers pay for commercials on a show mostly for the size of the audience for that show. Shows that many people watch can command higher prices for advertising time. And Beck’s audience, while declining, is still very large. The show should be able to demand a premium for a one-minutes commercial.
And they could but there’s another factor, usually relatively minor compared to the number of viewers. And that is the association of company’s name with the show. No major company will advertise on Beck’s show because the association with Beck is toxic to most Americans.
Are the CEOs of the 300 companies who refuse to advertise on Beck bleeding heart liberals? Nope, they are die-hard, Republican conservative businessmen. That’s how they got the job. Do they fear the left calling for a boycott of their products? No, not unless they think most of the people who buy their products are liberal, which I doubt. No Billy, they don’t advertise on Beck because most Americans find his message offensive.

He’s the only reason we maintain it at all – the rest we stream from Netflix, and broadcast radio. The rest is trash, or simply hurts our heads. I’d miss Cavuto and the Judge, but not enough to keep paying for TV sans Mr.Beck.
I do predict Glenn Beck will start his own network and that would be worth a cable bill again. He’s not perfect, but he does not pretend to be for one second – Mr. Beck has awoken a sleeping, silent majority and he’s given license for us to exercise our political voices – perhaps for the first time in our dutiful lives. I pray for him and ask God to bless him and protect him. In my view, he is a national treasure no less significant than John Adams – he never relented either.

I pray that Beck would stop using the words of God to push his business. It‘s true he’s called out evil doers and how to survive a rapture, Beck really should call himself something other than Christian given that his religion does not resemble what Christ actually established as recorded in the Christian book, the Bible.

AHHH, so now the troll is trolling the troll troll. If that did not make sense to you, try this one on for size.
Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo. (Google is your friend)
As for Akmiikeus, hold on a minute while I pull an explanation out of my “AKMIIKEUS”
I actually agree with you on one point. I do not see just the “Obvious” Unlike you, I see far more than that.
It does not surprise me that you have no Idea what I was alluding to with the “Progressive insurance” comment. Just proves that you do not read much, other than the huffpo. Don’t believe everything you read Skippy. I’m going to pull a Beck on you and say, “Go do your own research” There will be a quiz on Friday.
Glenn’s message is not toxic to “MOST” Americans, as you claim. But, he is very controversial, and obviously no friend of the left. So for bottom line purposes, many companies do not want to look like they are taking any one side over the other. They want to sell their products to everyone, not just some. They know that libbies are watching Glenn too, and they don’t want to offend your sensibilities.
While they may choose not to advertise on his show, I guaran-dam-tee you that a hefty percentage of those same business persons are watching him. and agree with him.
Now, if you were wanting to target a specific demographic with a particular product, like maybe you wanted to sell gold to highly intelligent, well to do people, then Glenn’s show would be a perfect fit. Hey…….whaddiya know, someone beat me to it.
Conversely, I would NOT try to sell American Flags, or deodorant on MSLSD. Just bad business.
GOD bless you my friend.

Posted on April 6, 2011 at 12:59amBeck has probably accomplished what he has set out to on TV.
The Blaze is really only ancillary to his efforts.
He doesn’t need the money and I bet he determines TV won’t be as effective for sustaining his message as “alternate media” and he focuses on his web site and radio.
He will have a lot more flexibility and control of time that way.
Working for a network might be a bit too constraining for him now.
If he feels strongly that a really big societal change is near, the web and radio might be more effective as he has a lot more freedom there.

Posted on April 6, 2011 at 2:13amIf Glenn decides he needs to go elsewhere I will happily follow him to his next TV gig. Glenn has taught us so much that it would be a shame if he did leave TV or Fox News. One way or another he will stay on TV. IMHO.
What is it?

In what is shaping up to be one of the more effective boycott campaigns in years, advertisers are abandoning the “Glenn Beck” show on Fox News………..
You are telling us what kind of country you want, aren’t you. Read your own words, then think about it.

Posted on April 6, 2011 at 7:13amGlenn is going to do what Glenn does, all the speculation is merely that, speculation. I give him great thanks for all he has done, even if he quit everything today! I think most Americans are wide awake now, and this entitlement and communist scourge that has taken over this country will be broken because if him. Glenn you are a stand up guy, and I for one, appreciate all you’ve done, and hopefully continue to do…God Bless America!

Posted on April 6, 2011 at 9:24amAmong media outlets, Glenn Beck’s, message bares the closest resemblance to what my parents taught me about morals, responsibility, nationional pride, etc. I was watching Hardball last night with Chris Matthews and he was describing the TEA-party, He said they’re a group of people that “hate abortion, hate gay marriage….” and so on. Now am I to assume by Mr. Matthews’ comments that he loves abortion, loves gay marriage..etc? Come on, Chris most reasonable people understand that abortion is a means of eradicating an unborn child. Most reasonable people also understand that “traditional” marriage is the last tattered fabric holding our society together. So for Mr. Matthews to speak about a group of people being pro-life or pro-family as if it’s a bad thing or some extreme right-wing position says more about Mr. Matthews than it does the TEA-party. The left is the very antithesis of the morals and belief systems of the American people. IMO that is why Fox News and Glenn Beck are so successful.

When you tell the truth, have one foot in the stirrup.
Old Western Adage
By offensive you mean he is a threat. There is no arguement against truth. That is why he is personally attacked. If you are offended you should ask the obvious question. Why do you find the truth offensive?

Report Post »If they do fold to the pressure i hope Bch goes to Pod cast. I would pay for it. Beck is the only one doing what the MSM should be doing. How come they always attack the messenger and not his message? Because he researches and double checks every thing.

I think that would be fantastic if Glenn were to start and have his own network. I bet it would be far more successful than Al Gore’s or that other guy, the owner of the pro basketball team.
Then he could get other conservative pundits on there and have a real mix of conservative thought. It would fly.

Report Post »Seems to me that Mr Beck has plenty of advertisers every time I watch the show all the advertising slots are full. The advertisers are just hurting themselves if they did pull ads from the show but some of the advertisers you mention have so many ads on fox it is rediculous. Procter and Gamble?? < they don't have many ads on any Fox cable channels. They do on local Fox tv channels though. If I am not mistaken i think Mr becks show beats all other cable channels in that time slot for viewership so why would Fox leave a Winner. Does not make sense.
