O’Reilly & Krauthammer Respond to Blaze Report on Union Influence in Obama WH

Responding to an exclusive video report from The Blaze on the shocking level of influence AFL-CIO boss Richard Trumka and other unions have in the Obama White House, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly and conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer discussed why Americans should take notice and speculate what this union power means for policy and politics:

so weeb, why don’t you just watch The Factor. Nearly every time Bill discusses the Wisconsin budget situation, he states that he is a union member and that he was previously assisted by a union with a pension issue. Quit watching fifteen second clips and then pontificating as if you watch every show.

These Mega Unions are destroying, not just our country’s economy, but that of the world.

Their goal seems to be global domination rather than the rights or defense of their members.

Their close affiliation with the DNC is corrupt.

Their close affiliation with the Communist and Socialist parties is telling and concerning.

With that many direct visits to the White House, some coordination must be taking place.

Who is directing whom may be up for grabs; but, not the “conspiracy” itself.

Unions are hurting employment, and employment is really suffering; 9%, 17%, or 22% unemployment depending on your definition. It seems employment is ending as we know it, in favor of ‘consulting’ and other forms of temporary, non-committal, risk-less work-relationships. Too bad for the non-producers; they’ll be on the bread lines. Maybe that’s where evolution says they belong … we’ll have to support those folks privately, of course … unless the government becomes a welfare state … like it is now … uh oh … all because of unions desire for overweening force in work relationships … we really need a leader to stand firm on this matter … time will tell if we have one

Sadly enough. It is worth keeping in mind that these people are the ones educating the next generation. Is it any wonder that I get asked by young people all the time, “what’s so wrong with communism?”. Collectivism is the undertone message in so much of the social teaching in public schools today. There is no longer an emphasis or even an understanding of individual rights. Let alone defining the “unalienable”, “self evident”, “endowed”, or enumerated nature of the individual rights that our Constitutional Republic was based on.

Anytime any school-aged youngster asks you “What is so wrong with Communism?”, you show them pictures and information about Cambodia, North Vietnam, Cuba, North Korea, Russia or Eastern Europe (after WWII) and tell them “This is what Communism gives you!” Ask them if they believe that it is a good thing to kill anyone with a different opionion or is educated? Will they enjoy being forced out of cities and towns to work on giant collective farms until they die of hard labor and starvation? Show them the movie “The Killing Fields” and see if they still believe that Communism is a cool sounding idea.

I never thought I would disagree with Charles, but I must. Nothing ‘spontaneous’ about these Union ‘riots’ in WI or anywhere else.

Well planned by the Left and are intended to spread across the Nation.
Add to that the Boot Camp for obama’s Civilian Army that is getting underway (surely funded by Soros) and we are facing a takeover of the country by RADICALS.

If obama steals the election in 2012, the America ceases to exist. We are facing more danger from within the White House than we ever faced from foreign enemies.
THEY WILL DESTROY AMERICA from WITHIN. That was the purpose of putting the ENEMY in the Oval Office. We MUST stop this coup from within our own government.

What chance will we have in 2012 ? They are gathering their army now. They will not have an election like we had in Nov. 2010. They are fighting for a One World Order and will not be stopped by such things as Laws or the Constitution. We are looking at the destruction of America from within our own government. The Unions are responsible for the unrest across the world….Remember…Workers of the World Unite. Trumka , Andy Stern, and don’t forget Dale Rafety. Rafety left Acorn and when on this WORLD TOUR to unite the workers into unions. They have all been shouting the call to people of the world to unite…they are calling for the destruction of society….only the elite across the Globe will remain.

I like Bill O’Reilly and I watch him from time to time, but I think he is limited in his ability to connect the dots. I think he has a 1990′s democrat versus republican template and sees everything as a poltical fight. What is happening now is more of a radical soft revolution with democrat/republican politics being used as the vehicle. I know Bill likes Beck and has been helpful to him at FOX, but I get the impression that he thinks Glenn is nuts. I would probably think he is nuts too, if I have not already seen the evidence of the alliance between the democrats, the unions and communists/socialist radicals. All that being said, Bill is not too bad and has a decent show each night.

Any phone calls made to Gov’t officials are meticulously documented in official records, and are available for inspection under the open records act. There is a legitimate reason for this.
Barak Obama insisted on keeping his “personal” Blackberry in spite of secret service recommendations to the contrary.Any records of any phone calls to his “personal phone” are beyond the scope of any open records requests. I’m sure there is a “legitimate” reason for this also.
Wouldn’t you love to see the records of his conversations on his “private” line? If the POTUS is “on duty” 24hrs / day, could it be reasonably argued that any calls made on even his “personal” phone could be subject to the open records laws?

Why public sector unions should be illegal:

    1) Duplicity: Unions bribe liberal politicians with political donations to increase wages and get favorable government rules, regulations and mandates for unions. (Obama received $400 million from unions during his presidential campaign…)

Unions also organize members to actively campaign for liberal politicians on a quid pro whoooa!! basis. This severely skews the employee/employer relationship.

It would be like a private sector union bribing a company president with $10 million to agree to union salary demands. If this happened in the real world, the executive would go to jail…. In the public sector, the bribed politician gets reelected… How is that fair or ethical?

    2) Monopolistic nature of government: For many services, governments hold a monopoly by law. This allows unlimited wage increases with no threat of lower-priced competing services. There are no limits to the excess. The more politicians give unions, the more they get in campaign funds. How is that fair to the ultimate employer; the tax payers. They get less service for more money.

    3) Total lack of cost constraints: Since governments aren’t limited by profit and loss considerations, they can pay outrageous wages and benefits. Any shortfalls can be made up with increased taxes or issuing as much debt as they want. If a corporation tries this, they go bankrupt. If a politician does this they get reelected with the help of public sector unions.

    4) Dangerous Extortion: Public sector unions have the ability to completely close down entire segments of the economy and essential public services through strikes, slowdowns and sickouts. Just look at the thousands of schools that were shutdown in Wisconsin, the traffic nightmare and the mountains of trash in NY during the worst blizzard in decades when sanitation workers staged a slowdown last month. Such power to stop commerce and essential services is a national security risk, with no private sector alternative.

    5) Conflict of Interest- Since the direct employer also holds legislative power, unions can extort union-friendly legislation. This is unfair to the ultimate employer/consumer (i.e. taxpayers), whose best interest is secondary to the unions given the quid pro quo relationship that exists between unions and the politicians.

For the above reasons, public-sector union members now make, on average, 100% more than the private sector. As a result, state and federal governments are completely bankrupt and unions want even MORE money and benefits.

Even FDR, the patron saint of private sector unions, and one of the most liberal presidents in US history, knew the dangers mentioned above and was staunchly against public sector unions.

Public sector unions must be closed down as soon as possible or the cycle or runaway government spending, decreased quality of public services and devastating deficits will never end.

America is now broke partially because of the absurd pubic sector wages and benefits caused by public sector unions. If someone wants to join a union, get a real job in the private sector.

Another couple of things that would be reasonable to consider; Make any membership in unions voluntary as well as collection of “dues”. Unfortunately most union membership ( have to be a member) is mandated by contract as well as the vehicle (payroll deduction) for dues collection. This simple change would bankrupt unions in short order I believe.

Complete nonsense: Look ma, no hands!

      1) Duplicity: Corporations bribe conservative politicians with political donations to depress wages and get favorable corporate rules, deregulation and mandates for susidies. (Oil companies received $52 billion in tax subsidies from the Republican House last week.)
Corporations also organize people to actively campaign for conservative politicians on a quid pro whoooa!! basis. This severely skews the corporate/political relationship.
It would be like a corporation bribing a company president with $10 million to agree to prevent unions. This happens in the real world, but the executive dfoesn’t go to jail…. and the bribed politician gets reelected… How is that fair or ethical?

      2) Monopolistic nature of business: In many sectors, corporations hold a monopoly. This allows unlimited wage decreases with no possibility of better paying jobs elsewhere. The more politicians give corporations, the more they get in campaign funds. How is that fair to the ultimate employee? They get less money for more work.

      3) Total lack of moral constraints: Since corporations are bound by law to maximize profits for shareholders, they can pay outrageously low wages and benefits. Any profits generated by the goods and services produced by the employees are then distributed to shareholders, not employees. If a corporation tries this, they get rewarded with a greater multiple. If a politician helps they get reelected with the help of corporate donors.

      4) Dangerous Extortion: Corporations have the ability to completely close down entire segments of the economy and essential public services. Just look at the trolling brown outs caused by Enron’s energy manipulations of the ‘90s. Such power to stop commerce and essential services is a national security risk, with public recourse.

      5) Conflict of Interest- Since the corporations also wield legislative power, they can extort non-union-friendly legislation. This is unfair to the employees (i.e. taxpayers), whose best interest is secondary to the corporations given the quid pro quo relationship that exists between corporations and the politicians.

      @DOG: Where to begin?…

      1) Duplicity– In the private sector, employment is simply a transparent contract between a buyer (employer) and seller (laborer). The government does set minimum wages (which should also be rescinded) but apart from that, there is no complicity. If wages are too low, the employee simply finds better paying job, if wages are too high, the company goes bankrupt.

The welfare option should be removed as it simply provides an viable economic alternative to work.

Hard-working employees get pay raises and are promoted, lazy employees get fired. Welcome to the real world…. The government should have absolutely nothing to do with it. Let the market and merit determine an individual’s wage; one size does not and should not fit all….

Regarding subsidies, I agree with you 100% ALL government subsidies should be rescinded immediately (minimum wage laws, corporate subsidies, crop subsidies, welfare, housing allowances, etc.).

      2) Monopolies– What’s wrong with monopolies? As long as there is free competition, if one company happens to produce the best possible product at the lowest possible price, everyone wins. If wages are too low, a competitor can simply offer workers higher salaries and put the other company out of business.

Obviously if unfair trade practices are used (exclusionary contracts with third-party material suppliers, for example) then the company is sued and is put out of business.

Existing anti-trust legislation is, however a joke. A company can be sued for having prices too low (predatory pricing), too similar (price collusion) or too high (price gouging). Take your pick.

Existing anti-trust laws inhibit free competition and allows inefficient companies to enter the market, which raises prices and lowers the standard of living. It’s a mess.

The market always finds a way.

      3) Lack of Constraints– If an employer offers “outrageously low” wages, competition is free to offer a higher wage and put its competitor out of business. Even if minimum-wage laws were rescinded (which they should be), try starting a company offering $6.00/hr for all employees forever and see if you’re successful…. You’ll never open your doors, because there is competition and no one will work at your company

      4) Dangerous Extortion– Unfair trade practice laws prohibit companies from doing what Enron’s energy traders did. Last time I checked, Enron is still bankrupt… Free-trade competition and reasonable unfair trade practices work.

Most (not all) of the rules, regulations and mandates SHOULD be rescinded. They simply make the cost of everything higher by allowing inefficient companies to enter the market and raise the costs of goods and services.

Reasonable pollution standards, building codes, worker safety codes, etc. are necessary and proper, but around 80% of all rules, regulations and mandates. Back in the 60′s the Federal Registry was 20,000 pages, now it’s almost 100,000 pages long; most of the added rules, regulations and mandates improve nothing but simply exist to PREVENT competition and/or raise the costs of goods.

Trash the 80,000 page tax code (filled with corporate tax-breaks that, yes, were granted by corporate “donations”), get rid of the IRS, replace it with a national corporate and personal consumption tax, and let individual states (not the federal government) set the rules, regulations and mandates they deem best for their citizens. If this were done REAL wages (not nominal) would increase and the prices for everything would fall precipitously leading to a much higher standard of living for all.

The free-market works. Excessive government rules, regulations and mandates do not, as U6 unemployment (16%) and the utter destruction of the U.S. industrial base clearly shows.

O’Reilly: “If they get their butt kicked across the board, it‘s a domino effect to other states and the unions are gonna lose a lot of money and a lot of power and so is the Democratic Party because they’re hand in hand.”

Sometime soon, a whole lot of people are gonna start figuring out that the whole “Cairo = Madison” analogy is totally correct EXCEPT it’s the Democratic Party/Unions in the role of Mubarak and Governor Walker/Tea Partiers/American Public who are the real ‘street’ that is rising up in protest.

Across the United States we can expect the Administration/Trumka/Stern/Van Jones/Unions/Leftists/Communists/etc., to start resorting to the same strategies/tactics of the despots of Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, Iran, and China.

Keep our powder dry, our hearts strong, our faith in God and Divine Providence.
More and more we have to understand and remember: we have them surrounded and they know it.

Imho it is not just the accreditation and the ability to directly take money from paychecks what is so important to them. It is also the collective bargaining, *automatically* taking the voices of all individuals or votes of each group member, to make sure that ‘democratically’ the majority will always be on their side and therefore the wins.

You think that the Wisconsin protests are just unhappy Wisconsinites? think again.

these clips from ABC World News, article By DEVIN DWYER Feb. 18, 2011

“DNC Chairman Tim Kaine also reportedly spoke with Wisconsin union leaders and state legislators ahead of the protests, the Huffington Post reported, signaling his direct involvement in coordinating the effort.”

      and also

“According to news reports, the White House has even unleashed the Democratic National Committee to spread disinformation and confusion in Wisconsin regarding the governor’s courageous actions,” he said. “I urge the president to order the DNC to suspend these tactics. This is not the way you begin an ‘adult conversation’ in America about solutions to the fiscal challenges that are destroying jobs in our country.”

Now, I wonder if a certain Union LEADER of, say, the AFL-CIO, who frequently visits the White House and speaks to a certain individual had anything to do with pushing this kind of thugery???

      What do you think?

So we have an Imposter Pres who can only focus on OAA (Organizing Against America) entertaining Union Thugs Andy and Dick and bussing in criminals to insitgate and agitate like the former ACORN and the New Black Panthers–along with a few good Communists tossed in just to shake things up. Demonrats are like political vampires who feed off union blood for their One-Party Votes. Must have it or their party dies! (Absolutely every move they make is political payback to their Voting Block.) But why should taxpayers subsidize Loser Teachers with NEA thugs who ensure that children fail?

Let‘s hope Governor Walker fires these ’teachers’–because they have lost the Moral Authority to return to a classroom of students whose first question will be: “WOW…so you got by with Calling In Sick. My mom wouldn’t let me!” As for Wisconsin‘s Demonrat politicians who’ve abdicated their duties…be like Reagan and fire the whole bunch and hold new elections.

Enough is enough! Demonrats and Union Thugs have been back-slapping and glad-handing each other in back door deals that even involve Our Dear Leader in Crony-Capitalism. “Okay, Comrade…Workers of the world…Unite!” (But please, we must give Obama a break…because he’s been working overtime trying to overthrow foreign governments–and that’s hard work when you involve Code Pink, the Muslim Brotherhood, BFF and Comvicted Bomber Bill Ayers and other assorted Commie friends.)

Let’s hope Republican have also had enough and will stand strong against One-Party Vote machines like the NEA, AFL-CIO, SEIU. Ultimately, let’s pray that Wisconsin students score an academic victory: an end to free-loaders who claim to be teachers!

      So much for their education?!

Thank you! I have been screaming this at the top of my lungs. It is amazing how this union thugs collect their passive drones and put them in the line of fire. The Stockholm syndrome on steroids! These guys are facing the potential of loosing their jobs and they don’t care. Obviously, they believe the Union is going to protect them somehow. We know the unions would throw this people under the buss in a heart beat.

Once again Krauthammer is completely wrong, this is NOT a spontaneous event and I have no idea why he would attempt to discribe it as such, I have good friends who live there and they say its a local joke about how many people have come there from out of state to protest.

      “Democrats wouldn’t exist without unions”

      Thats a pretty accurate assessment.

What you’re seeing today in relationship between unions and democrats/government is textbook socialism. These unions are – in fact – the socialist wing of the government and the democrats are nothing more than their lobbyists.

All I have to say is wait until 2012 when the independents help the anti-socialists vote the remaining progressive Marxists out of public office.

The democrats have shown their true colors and the end of the progressive Marxist party (democrats) is coming into fruition. Democrats no longer stand for the capitalist American way – they stand for the Marxist way.

These democrats stand for anything BUT democracy – as a matter of fact they’re operating like dictators and circumventing democracy via their abandonment of their seats and their refusal to vote on legislation.

The only support these clowns are getting is on behalf of union thugs and the socialist/communist party..

Americans WILL remember this come 2012…

      Krauthammer.

      ‘For policy and politics”???

Does anyone know what Krauthammer thinks about what unions do for workers and families?? I don’t think so. ‘Policy and politics’ will create a ‘fail’ for anyone who actually tries to put it before the constituents.

The reason the Democraps can’t live without the unions is that their other support groups, those receiving welfare handouts and the illegals don’t provide enough political donations. They are takers, not givers. Whereas, the unions, which take a nice chunck of change from their members, have a ready source of income to spread around to politicians after first lining their own pockets. If all states were right to work, union membership would be even lower and thier influence would be severely curtailed.

It is also obvious how much he owes to the narrow and short-sighted unions and the like for his existance. Let us wish and pray for strength and continued determination for Gov. Walker in his rightful cause.
