O’Reilly vs. Behar: TV Hosts Defend Actions in Explosive ‘View’ Debate

During the opening segment of his Fox News Channel program Thursday evening, host Bill O’Reilly looked back on his tense debate with the ladies of “The View” earlier in the day, during which co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar walked off the set. In defending his position against the building of a mosque at Ground Zero, O’Reilly invited conservative radio commentator Laura Ingraham to weigh in. Ingraham called the walk-out “mind-blowing“ and ventured that the stunt may have been ”contrived,” however O’Reilly denied the claim, saying he hadn’t expected it to happen.

Across the cablesphere, Joy Behar took to her HLN soapbox, defending her actions against O’Reilly and his “hate speech.” Her counterpart guest: former Gov. Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

Meanwhile, Glenn wonders why no one ever walks off his show:

Just a thought…does anyone else think that NY keeps getting attacked because of people just like Joyless & Whoopsi? Makes me think extremists WANT them to wake up & recognize that they (MUSLIM EXTREMISTS) are out there and want to hurt people in the name of their religion.     Remember the whiny, insecure kid in nursery school, the one who always thought everyone was out to get him, and was always running to the teacher with complaints? Chances are he grew up to be a conservative.

    But the new results are worth a look. In the 1960s Jack Block and his wife and fellow professor Jeanne Block (now deceased) began tracking more than 100 nursery school kids as part of a general study of personality. The kids’ personalities were rated at the time by teachers and assistants who had known them for months. There’s no reason to think political bias skewed the ratings — the investigators were not looking at political orientation back then. Even if they had been, it’s unlikely that 3- and 4-year-olds would have had much idea about their political leanings.

    A few decades later, Block followed up with more surveys, looking again at personality, and this time at politics, too. The whiny kids tended to grow up conservative, and turned into rigid young adults who hewed closely to traditional gender roles and were uncomfortable with ambiguity.

    The confident kids turned out liberal and were still hanging loose, turning into bright, non-conforming adults with wide interests. The girls were still outgoing, but the young men tended to turn a little introspective.

      The “whining ” kids were actually whining because of the poor public education and the bias that was forced on them everyday.
      “traditional gender roles”= responsible adults

      I would agree with you, except facts get in the way. Have you ever met a happy progressive? Look at BHO, guy rammed through a generation worth of crap in two years, and you’d think someone just stole his last piece of candy. He’s miserable, Pelosi is miserable, Reid is miserable. Now, look at the the ******** in your every day life, a bunch of self-loathing, self absorbed thugs. No regard for others (thank you Maude Behar and Whooping Cough Goldberg).

      Now, look at your average conservative. Not an angry group (well maybe now, but if you intentionally set my house on fire, I’ll admit, I’m going to be hacked off), but those that donate their time, efforts, and money to help others, and are generally more joyful people. We’ve sat around for decades being called bigots, fascists, homophobic, sexist, evil, and my favorite, “rich”, and take it all in stride while progressives have stolen our intellectual inheritance. Bill makes one comment and their only intellectual recourse is to storm off. Even Baba Wawaha called them out on their antics.

      So, I find that you may be looking at some stoned out research looking for a specific outcome. Like the old saying goes “there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.” You can mold anything to fit your warped world view.

    Watching the clip of the Goldberg/Behar walkout was the first and most definitely last time I will ever subject myself to that torturous program. With all that shouting and yelling over one another, it‘s got to be the most horrendous program I’ve ever seen. What a posed walkout, too. The faux-PC stance those two took is exactly what is wrong with this country. Forget the fact that what Bill said was factually correct, he didn‘t couch his statement in enough qualifiers to avoid their subjective estimation of ’hate speech’ for those two blowhards. What shamelessly childish behavior it is to walk off your own show when you disagree with a guest.

      I was actually found the clip to be very encouraging. I admit I don’t watch The View at all, but I was really shocked by the audience’s reaction and support for Bill and his comments regarding the stimulus package and mosque. May have even been 50/50.

    Joy and Whoppi are two peas in a pod. Matching bookends of bigoted, self righteous, rigid,bitchy, haters. They are so wrapped up in Obama and their views they have a hard time believing that anyone can think different then them. The show should be renamed, “Our View is the only View.”
    The are annoying and unprofessional. Good riddance. The show was better after they walked off.
    If they did it to impress anyone, it didn’t work.
    The mind set is unbelievable. It is so hard to deal with liberals like them. They just refuse to look at the real issues and instead make everything into something that it’s not. They are happier believing that all the rest of us with opinions are just idiots who don’t know what we talking about.

      Ok, look, I have to begin to ask if you listen to Glenn’s program on the radio, he has callers on there all the time that disagree with him. He and Bill O’Reilly always have lively debates and he and Judge Andrew Napolitano disagree on the Arizona Immigration bill. He has also had Al Sharpton on twice before. He doesn’t have many guests on because it is not his forte. He is an opinion person and was a society have heard the rehtoric before, Glenn’s opinions are a nice and pleasing alternative.i pray for you and the left that you see the light and realize the damage you are doing to this country.

    The View is evidence that you don’t need talent or wisdom to do broadcast TV. I am sure the are nice lady’s but uneducated in the history of man.

      One needs to read the Koran in order to understand that any…any devote Muslim and follower of the Koran

      As for the Mosque… IF there was a Mosque on the site of the Twin Towers that was destroyed by the
      brotherhood… then it really should have been rebuilt. Just like the Church that they are not allowing permits for. BUT… there was NO Mosque destroyed. This new Mosque is their TROPHY and should not be allowed on sacred – hallowed ground where 3000 murdered souls are lingering in the dust.

      I for one, would not even work in a building built over the cremated remains of 3000 souls that never had a chance to say good-bye. Those buildings are just destined to be ‘haunted’ in one way or another.
      They would have been better off….using those two high intensity lights to shine forever over those innocent, murdered souls. Just my opinion.

      A video was recently smuggled out of Pakistan showing the Taliban stoning a woman to death. This news was released to us showing the extremist in their robes and turbans. I recently viewed a video on the Internet of a young girl being beaten and stoned to death by a crowd of Muslims dressed in American clothing with cell phones flashing pictures. Islam is only peaceful if one converts to it and doesn’t break any of the rules. Although it is political correct to call it a peaceful religion it is a lie that we tell ourselves. They are all extremist.

      I’m sorry but anyone who has read books by Bill or listened to his show knows he meant Muslim extremists when he made that statement. I didn’t even give it a thought until all hell broke loose and then I had to wonder why (?) they would interpret it that way, unless they just wanted to make a scene to prove their own agenda.       I don’t agree with Ms. behars behavior, but Mr.O’Reilly is wrong. Not that 70% of us are aginst a ground zero mosque, but this mosque is not at ground zero. Use google maps or whatever. You will see the mosque is not at ground zero. If it was at ground zero, i would be against it.

      ISHKA4ME, The building on the mosque site was destroyed by the landing gear of one of the jets crashing throgh its roof. That does make it collateral damage of the attack and the closest thing to ground zero that is ever going to be on the public market. Notice how the Muslims are only interested in that one site, and will accept no substitute.

      I as a Christian am sick and tired of being smeared and think its time we spoke up. I emailed the View and said I would like an apology from Whoopi because she claimed Tim McVeigh was a “Christian” terrorist and compared him to the Muslim terrorists of 9/11. I informed them that Tim McVeigh may have been raised in a Catholic church, however later in life he himself said he was an agnostic and that “science” was his religion. He bombed the building as retaliation for the Waco TX situation, which had nothing to do with his “religion”. He did NOT kill those people in the name of God as the Muslims did in the name of Allah.

      I am sick and tired of these comparisons and I think every Christian should email and demand that Whoopi apologize. It probably won’t happen, but we need to start letting our voices be heard. We won’t be violent, but we will no longer be silent.

      You know if this were the other way around, some non religious lone Muslim who did something crazy just because and not in the name of Allah, but the media continued to say “Muslim extremest” they would have a fit. ANNOY THEM AS THEY ANNOY US.

      For decades, the Progressives have been demanding that we tolerate the intolerable; yet, they can’t tolerate a frank discussion… What a bunch of hypocrites! Furthermore, truth speech is NOT “hate speech,” and it’s about time we stop being “politically correct” and start being politically direct… After all, political correction is simply censorship with manners. It’s time to break these chains!

      Amen JKN, and “political correctness” only seems to apply to non-Christians. NOBODY stands up for Christians who are smeared and offended on a daily basis. Just once I would like to see the media defend the Christian student who has their rights trampled on by not being allowed to display their faith in school, or the Christian parent who is offended by the blatant disregard for our rights to parent our children as we see fit by their insistance on pushing homosexuality and sexual immorality on our children. Instead they are so quick to portray the Christian as the intolerant one, and make us out to be “bigots”. Excuse me? When is the last time you saw a Christian stone a woman for commiting adultery, or behead someone for disgracing their Lord. CHRISTIANS NEED TO STAND UP AND MAKE NOISE (non violently of course). WE surround THEM.

      Obviously Jesse didn’t watch the whole thing. Bill never said they can’t do it. He said they can build it but they shouldn’t. To bring on a whacko that believes Dick Chaney went into the towers and set explosives to bring them down, to call someone else a whacko, is like bringing in Reverand Wright to call Catholics Radical. Jesse admits that he has theories and has no proof, the proof is there for him to watch, but he refuses to listen. Instead of trying to figure out what hasn’t happened he needs to spend more time on figuring out what has. And then like any good Liberal he resorts to name calling since he can’t dispute the facts. I wouldn’t have someone like him on my show either, because I would want to put people who actually know what they are talking about and aren’t in it for sensationalism.
