President Barack Obama will now live in infamy on Orlando streets as the city unveiled the first portion of a roadway project bearing his namesake.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony that showcased President Barack Obama Parkway, near the Mall at Millenia.
WKMG Orlando reports:
Phase I connects President Barack Obama Parkway north of Conroy Road to Metrowest Boulevard, a mile-and-a-half stretch that includes lighting, sidewalks and on-street bike lanes. Shingle Creek Trail, used by pedestrians and bicyclists, was also extended.
Dyer said 150 jobs were created in Phase I of construction, which cost $10.5 million. The city will hire 150 more workers when Phase II begins, he said.
“One of the things that we have done in the city is some of the capital construction projects that we have the funding for that have been on the books, we moved them forward — expedited them — so we could create the jobs when we need them,” Dyer said.
According to WKMG’s report, upon completion, the parkway will extend from Conroy Road to U.S. Highway 441 in Apopka, a nine-mile stretch.
Ironically, Obama was in Orlando for two separate fundraisers — one of which was held at prominent attorney John Morgan’s house — the day of the parkway’s unveiling.

Posted on October 11, 2011 at 11:39pmLord, I hate being from Flori-duh! I can’t stand going to Orlando. It is a close 2nd to Miami as worst place in the state. The only thing that makes o town any better is that you can still speak English there. Just remember the crazies they elect in Orlando. “The republicans healthcare plan is for you to die and die quickly”! Charlie Crist is a liberal shady lawyer working for a very shady law firm. Good luck Pam Bondi on cleaning up personal injury fraud in this state. I can point you in the right direction any time you like.

Posted on October 12, 2011 at 11:58amI’ve got some news for the idiots that think that government jobs are meaningful jobs. EVERY GOVERNMENT JOB OR PROJECT is a drain on the economy! The money to fund these projects or wages or salaries require more tax to be taken from the hard working citizens of the several states. It may be true that the government project/job may be necessary (like roads & bridges), but it is also true that the money for them has to come from taxes because the government does not have any money except for what it takes from the people. Government projects/jobs should be kept to a minimum. If you think that the government is benefiting the economy when it provides government jobs, please go to the nearest insane asylum and have yourself evaluated…. because you are an idiot.

Posted on October 11, 2011 at 11:16pmHere in Looney Tune Land ( California ) they already have a school named after THE ONE…BHO Academy in Oakland, California. Most of the students are from the welfare and illegal immigrants infested neighborhoods. To these people…BHO is God. I wonder what they will say after it goes down in the history books that BHO turned out to be the first Socialist, Communist president of the United States of America. My guess is they will not care at all. They have no pride, nor do they love this country much. As long as they receive their freebies from the government, they do not care if Satan himself runs the country. May God help us. It’s going to be a long rough ride ahead of us. God bless the USA.
