Anyone who watches sports has seen it happen plenty of times: a player gets injured, and the medics have to take him off on a stretcher. And many people probably hold their breathe during the ordeals, either out of fear for the player’s injury, or fear that the medics might just have a blunder and mess up during the stretcher transport. If your one of those who have feared the latter, it’s finally been realized.
During a top flight match in Portugal on Sunday between Olhanense and Uniao Leiria, Olhanense’s Salvador Agra was inadvertently kicked in the head by a defender. The hit knocked him unconscious. That brought out the medics, who quickly tried to load Agra on a stretcher and get him to an ambulance. The key words are “tried” and “quickly.” Maybe even too quickly:
Agra was reportedly diagnosed with a concussion but will be okay.
Did you get a little chuckle out of that? Well, NBC Sports has compiled a few more to lighten your day:

Posted on September 30, 2011 at 6:55pmIf he wasn’t unconscious before they dropped him, he certainly was afterward. Maybe they should have just drug him off of the field… lot less painful.

Posted on September 28, 2011 at 1:04pmSoccer is a fantastic sport for kids and adults. It embodies teamwork and though there are stars they cannot dominate a game like in most American sports save Baseball. Also what other sport requires players to run for 90 minutes straight, get cleated and hacked with no pads, and uses mostly the feet to do quite amazing things with a ball. Soccer can be a very agressive sport but unfortunately most of what we see here is South American soccer which is full of fakers and pri Madonna’s. If you want to see quality agressive soccer watch the Northern Europeans. Oh yeah it’s also called football because unlike American football they actuall use their FEET!

Posted on September 28, 2011 at 12:59pmThank you Blaze; I needed a good laugh today, especially after reading the story about the missing, border-crossing terrorist.
Report Post »Thought the funniest clip was the third part of “Top 3 Funny…with stretcher” (starts at 0:26); poor player gets “rear-ended” several times. LOL, ROFL

Posted on September 28, 2011 at 11:48amI know a guy who was dropped in the o.r. when in for a back surgery. He woke up with the incisions and a busted knee cap and a bruised face since they went on with the surgery like nothing happened.
Report Post »This was 3rd party and his only choice of treatment because it was 3rd party like worker’s comp. THIS is about halfway up the ladder from what obamacare is written to be. This is what you will get if you are lucky while further possible damage occurs from non-treatment while you fight the bureaucracy. We know the model from that where it exists. It also invades every liberty you have in it’s precedence. Obamacare must be eviscerated and the precedence reversed!

Report Post »I guess I don‘t think it’s funny because I have worked in first aid response at a ski area and could not imagine dropping someone from a stretcher who had an injury like a concussion or spinal fracture, dislocated shoulder, or a broken bone. That one needs to be carried off the field denotes injury, does it not? Or are these things staged as slapstick comedy? I wouldn’t know, I’m not into spectator sports at all.
