‘They’re Going to Force Obama to Spend Himself Into Oblivion’: Romney‘s ’Cold War’ Strategy Against The President

Ronald Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative, dubbed “Star Wars” by a snickering press, was part of a larger strategy to force the Soviets into competing against U.S. resources. When Russia tried to match Reagan’s ambitions, it spread its meager, centrally-planned resources thin, knocked itself out of the arms race, and the Cold War came to an end.

Theyre Going to Force Obama to Spend Himself Into Oblivion: Romneys Cold War Strategy Against The PresidentAnd they sneered.

The reason we bring this up is because both Republican and Democrat operatives are comparing what Reagen did to the Soviets in the 1980s to what Mitt Romney is currently doing to Team Obama, that is, forcing them to keep pace with his vast resources.

“[T]he Romney campaign’s massive ad buys are aimed as much at broadening the playing field as at persuasion, forcing Obama and his allies to spread their resources thin and to play defense in formerly safe states,” McKay Coppins and Zeke Miller write for BuzzFeed.

Trying to keep up with the Romney ad-blitz would certainly explain why the Obama campaign is spending more money than it’s raising.

“It’s just like the Cold War. They’re going to force Obama to spend himself into oblivion — while trying to peel off constituencies like the Eastern Bloc,” a Democratic strategist referring to Hispanic voters and middle-class Americans told Buzzfeed. “The only question is which [constituency] will be the first domino.”

Of course, it should be noted that Team Obama has also spent its “fair share” saturating swing states with millions of dollars worth of campaign ads. Still, the Romney haul is impressive and it continues to grow.

“There’s no way they’ll be able to keep up. Our SuperPACs are our Star Wars, if you will,” a Republican operative with ties to the Romney campaign to BuzzFeed.

As reported earlier on The Blaze:

…new disclosures posted late Wednesday night by a Republican “super” political committee formed by veteran strategist Karl Rove (also known “The Man Nancy Pelosi Could Have Arrested, Like, Anytime She Wanted”) show the super PAC he formed to help GOP causes group reaped $4.6 million in May. That will aid Romney, as will a separate $8 million boost announced earlier in the day from another super PAC, Restore Our Future.

The calculus raises the specter that President Obama…may be the first incumbent president to be out-raised by his opponent.

“Financial disclosure reports released this week indicate that Romney’s Cold War strategy may be working,” Coppins and Miller write.

“Obama spent $34 million on ads last month, a staggering sum so early in the election that did nothing but keep the incumbent from sinking further in the polls amid a painfully slow economic recovery,” they add.

And even after spending that much cash in May (and posting a $5.4 million deficit), Team Obama just announced a new ad campaign targeting Nevada and Pennsylvania — two states that were originally being called for the president. Perhaps somebody’s getting nervous?

Theyre Going to Force Obama to Spend Himself Into Oblivion: Romneys Cold War Strategy Against The PresidentClick here to check out this useful election year tool

“There is a sense that this impenetrable wall, this hermetically sealed culture in the East, is opening up,” said Republican consultant Rick Wilson. “There are a lot of cracks in Obama’s operation, but also his narrative — and the economy is just eating away at them. It looks like this ‘blue wall’ is about ready to collapse.”

And here’s something else to think about: not only does the Romney campaign out-raise Team Obama and spend at a rate that is either proportionate or lower than what it raises, but it is also less than one-third the size of the president’s Chicago Machine.

“He can run deficits all he wants as president, but there is no Federal Reserve to print more money for campaigns,” Wilson added. “Republicans are just spending at a rate they can’t keep pace with, and that’s going to hurt him in November.”

But more than financing ad-blitzes, Romney’s war chest allows him to campaign aggressively in states which, up until a few months ago, were supposed to be shoe-ins for President Obama.

BuzzFeed explains what we mean when we say “campaign aggressively”:

In a deliberate step in the Cold War battle plan, the campaign just completed a bus tour through six states that all went blue in 2008. A hyper-choreographed affair — complete with its own slogan, “Every Town Counts,” and a newly-decaled bus — the trip was meant as series of warning shots for Team Obama.

At many of the stops, Romney made a point of declaring his intention to win the state he was in — prompting local newspapers to splash near-identical headlines across their front pages. And the places where Romney oozed the most bravado — Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan — are all states that Obama has been heavily favored to win.

But does Romney have a shot with these state?

“We took Mitt Romney’s pro-jobs message into six states that were all won by Obama in 2008,” senior Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom, referring to the bus tour. “What you saw was a campaign on offense that was forcing its opponents to defend territory that they thought was safely in their column.”

Final thought: If Romney’s Cold War strategy works and he wins the White House, we guarantee you certain members of Team Obama will accuse him of “buying the presidency.”

Just remember this: During the 2008 election, Barack Obama hauled in a record-smashing $750 million from fundraisers, outspent Sen. John McCain by a ratio of 3-to-1, and none of the president’s supporters complained.

Buy who knows? Maybe their opinion on the matter has “evolved.”

Romney’s impressing me more and more. His wife Ann is a huge asset also. A very articulate and likable woman who comes across as quite genuine.

What I like about Romney‘s campaign is that it’s not shy about hitting quickly and hitting hard.

Romney has an appeal to the “eastern bloc” and he’s going to exploit that appeal forcing Obama, Plouffe and the noxious Axelrod to campaign in areas they normally shouldn’t have to. And quite honestly, the more airtime the unlikable Axelrod gets, the better for Romney.

The same “perfect storm” that allowed Obama to gain office seems to be hindering him today.

The beautiful part of all this is that Obama is just being Obama and that‘s why he’s losing the race, this is who he really is, elitist, inept, smug, cocooned and hopelessly out matched as a strategist. Plouffe and Axelrod just don’t know what to do to lift him. Axelrod himself is becoming a liability. The smears aren’t working, the enemedia can’t find anything that sticks to Romney. Just today I read that even the Hollywood elites are worried about perceptions that Obama keeps coming back to them for $40K a plate fundraisers and raffles, but Barry has no choice he’s being outraised by Romney.

And I love this “cold war” strategy by Romney, forcing Obama to exhaust resources and time on states that should be safely Obama’s anyway making Obama look scared and panicked.

Here’s to President Romney 2013 and an America that sees job g

IF Obama allowed our oil rigs back as they were before he interfered by sending them to Brazil where he and Soros owns land and is making money hand over fist, and IF Obama allowed the pipeline, just those two things would restore our economy but he won’t do this because he wants USA to go down as quickly and as hard as he can make USA hit the pavement! This is what he has been taught all of his life and anyone can find out who raised him and who taught him these things that he holds dear and is seeing that it comes to fruition. Only FOOLS are blind to his very OBVIOUS plans. OBAMACARE was his first hurdle to get the ball rolling to begin our downfall, and it is working very well! No wonder he’s so happy.

Hey, I reminded a friend just today that we have plenty to be thankful for:

      1. Holder will be cited for contempt of Congress and may well face criminal charges for his crimes.

2 The AZ Immigration Law will be upheld by the SCOTUS.

      3. The Supremes will declare the entire Obamacare legislation as unconstitutional.

      4. Every bit of economic data coming out shows that Obama doesn’t have a clue where the problems are, much less how to solve them. 65% of the country thinks we’re headed in the WRONG direction. Take great comfort that at least the thoughtless neaderthals who voted for him have come to their senses.

Oh, one small point: Currently, Obama’s wedding band and watch are prominent in all his photos. Please note that when Ramadan rolls around, those items of jewelery come off. MSM will never point this out. He’ll be in full campaign mode this year during Ramadan. If he really wants to please his Saudi masters, he’ll roll out his prayer rug a time or two in Iowa or Kansas!

But look at Afghanistan in the past 10 days and all the hostilities directed toward our military..it looks like a route…the leadership looks like their not even engaged there any more and our troups at loose ends…something there is terribly a miss and no one is even reporting on it… and with all the hands on stuff obama claims according to the leaks looks like he has abandoned this and left all in the lurch if we are to believe the leaks in the first place..mr hands on has dropped the ball yet again…anyone else notice this?

When I was younger Red States were Dem states and Blue States were called Repub states. Then one year, and I wish I could remember when it changed, suddenly Red was Republican and Blue was Democrat. I think the commie left and commie media realized the symbolism involved in their communist movement here in America being illustrated with states under their control being shown as Red, so one year the media decided to switch the two parties colors. Of course a simple change of color doesn’t fool anyone, but it makes them feel like they are hiding their communist leanings from the citizenry.

Believe the color switch was made in the mid 70’s
It was initiated by the monopolistic media arm of the gangster democrat/socialist party to distance that party from the communist red color

As Peter Sellers said in the Pink Panther series, “I’m under the covers … you fool.”

Citizens of a free nation cannot survive as long as those with authority have no accountability.
The socialists know and understand this all too well, and, they think we’re not watching them.

Don’t lie, cheat steal…it’s all good!

i hope this time people realize the democrips and rebloodlicans are the same gangs with different names and they select Gary Johnson, unless they want to destroy their country and risk their own annihilation during a revolution during a crash like has happened in the past. The financial crash coming if Romney gets the presidency will do even more damage than the crash did to bush and the gop than, so the best things the rebloodlicans would probably to have obama relected have the crash and result in a massive takeover countrywide.

Guys, Ron Paul is where you need to be looking, he is still in the race. The lawsuit may unbind the delegates and then all heII will break loose. It can happen. But if Ron Paul does not make it, we need to send a clear message to the GOP this year, and that is we are tired of your criminal activity, we will write in Pauls name, Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXhY1j3ZAMs&feature=youtu.be

Tyranny, You are part of the problem, the two party system that they have duped you into thinking that there can be no other way. You who cannot see that you have the candidate, of the times that we need, to end the destruction of our Constitution, but you look the other way because the stars in your eyes news media tells you what to do. Think about it. You have no clue. You have been blinded by being star struck. Get your mind and life in order or all your grandchildren will suffer, partly by your hand.

YOU, and others like you, are part of the problem! But tell you what, I’ll give you till the GOP convention when Romney will be the official candidate. Sen Paul will endorse him and all you paulbots/obamatons will be revealed for what you really are–advocates of obama for 4 more years. Then my children and grandchildren will suffer for what you and others have done. However, I have more faith than that. I believe Romney will decimate Obama, Congress will go GOP in both hosues and Romney will start the process to fix this country. He’s not perfect but he will govern to the right and will fix many of the ills obama has caused.
BTW–I have lived in countries with more than the two party system. You want to know what happens every election? The vast majority of people are unhappy because their candidate didn’t win. Think about it, man, what you want will create chaos in this country as it has in others. Of course, going 3rd party will accomplish your goal right now–another 4 years of obama.

“The reason we bring this up is because both Republican and Democrat operatives are comparing what Reagen did to the Soviets in the 1980s…”

You could have stopped it there and I would be happy. Reagan was ridiculed for being out of touch and naive, yet both parties look to his adept skill in making things happen. Mitt needs to realize that trait. Bammy never will.

I have been urging ALL of my friends that they MUST contribute as this election is critical. Even if it is only twenty dollars, it will add up. And I also donate to Senator Jim DeMint’s “Senate Conservative Fund”. That fund in previous elections got real conservatives like Toomey and Rubio elected. Right now guys like Ted Cruz, Jeff Flake and Josh Mandel need our support. If we don’t recapture the Senate, it is going to be nothing but obstruction from that body assuming Romney wins.

Actually anyone supporting Obama or Romney shouldnt complain about gas prices. Gas prices are going up because of FED devaluing our dollar. Obama hasnt, and Romney has said he wont waste time on the FED. Neither of them cut current spending levels. So really, only Ron Paul supporters have the right to complain about the gas prices.
