‘Outrageous’ High School Lunch ‘Riot’ Caught on Video in Texas

“All these people came and just started hitting everybody. After a while, I got hit and everybody just started fighting. So I hit back and then.”

That’s how Maya Rodriguez describes what happened at her local Houston-area high school on Friday. A cafeteria fight broke out between four students at Dakaney High in Spring, TX and soon degenerated into all-out chaos. And it was all caught on video:

“They had a riot at B lunch and it got outrageous,” Everiel Johnson, another student, added. “They started throwing milk. Innocent people were getting hit for no reason.”

No one was seriously injured in the incident.

But this isn’t the first such incident a the school, and it’s starting to get a reputation. Last year, several other “riots” broke out during lunch periods.

“We feel like this is getting out of control, way out of control,”  one mom told KHOU-TV. “And we just don’t know, as parents, what to do or who to talk to.”

In response to the recent violence, the school instituted a new tardiness policy. Those new rules sent anyone who was late for a class to the school gym. There were over 300 offenders on the first day.

“Right now the inmates are running the asylum. They have got to do something to get the kids under control,” Tony Cannata, who works in the area, told KHOU.

According to the school district, those new rules are meant “to assist in maintaining order on the campus.”

Order that is badly needed.

    By the way, 300 of them were late to school on the first day? How about you just send them home instead. If they aren’t going to take advantage of their opportunities from education, you might as well leave them at home where they can do nothing and become nothing, rather than bringing down others who might actually have a shot at success.

      It all melts down to a case of “a lack of respect”…not only for the school…but themselves.
      Schools are too big. Teachers are used as babysitters. Parents just don’t care…in many cases it appears to be “just get them out of my hair”…”it‘s the school’s fault”…”johnny can’t read, but pass him anyway”…
      These kids are indicitive of our society as a whole, and that is darned scary

      My thoughts exactly,school should be a zero tolerance atomsphere. You start one fight and you’re your parents problem the rest of the year. You disrupt the class you’re removed for the day. ZERO TOLERANCE make kids act respectful of teachers and other students or remove them let them disrespect their parents

      This is what happens when the government sticks its nose in education and forces kids to go to school that would rather be dealing drugs for a living. I say no one should be required to go to school, but absolutely no handouts when they drop out. I was a high school teacher for 11 years and got sick of spending the majority of my time babysitting instead of educating kids that wanted to succeed.

      This is what happens, when you take discipline out of the schools. Houston schools have always been dangerous in many places, but I’ve heard from friends and relatives, that it has gotten much much worse in the last few years.

Anyway acording to our fearless leader (NOBAMA) in his State of the Union address, He wants to MANDATE (DICTATE) that all kids must stay in school until they graduate or turn 18 so the kids that are there that truly want to learn won‘t be able too because more attention will be paid to those who don’t want to learn.

      Seriously…if they’re late on the first day of school – - send them home. Perhaps it will lessen class sizes!!!! Kids that want to learn – will show up respectfully – kids that don’t – can go han’ on the steet!

      The reason the students are kept on school grounds is FEDERAL AND STATE funding are determines in part by ATTENDANCE .

      This school is 98% black and Hispanic. Riots like this are common in schools throughout the nation between these two groups, especially in California.

      As Lee Baca, LA County Sheriff claimed in his LA Times story, they’re in a low intensity racial war right now in Southern Calif.

      Blacks fight with everyone: Hispanics, Asians, whites, etc. And the reason they do….MOSTLY….is because of jealousy. Every group in America does better than they do academically and they resent it bitterly, so they start fights. It’s really as simple as that. How many videos or news accounts do you see that show riots involving whites, Asians and Hispanics with each other? Maybe an exception once in a great while, but the vast, vast majority of fights involve blacks and some other group they’re jealous of.

      Of course, black fights have started over what they see as disrepect over one of their holidays or icons, but it is really jealousy that is the greatest motivator in all black animosity.

      Blacks hate everybody, but they hate whitey the most, because they’ve been assured over and over and over again throughout the country that whites are to blame for their lack of succes and that it is not due to their below average abilities.

      They love to hear that since it soothes their huge egos and their arrogance.

      The reason we see so many black/Hispanic riots is because…unlike whites and Asians….Hispanics fight back when they’re bullied by blacks.

      Whites and Asians generally do not. And blacks fight with everybody. It’s based in jealousy…as I pointed out above.

    This lack of respect is what Progressivism brings to us. They began developing this disrespect in the 60′s and their work is coming to fruition. They know that our Constitution is meant for a moral and law abiding citizenry. Their stated strategy is to undermine the Constitution by creating a disrespectful and derelict society through the education system. They have been extremely successful because citizens have put their heads in the sand.

      The specific tactic used on this segment of society should be noted: encouraged criminal culture, and natural aggressive tendencies spiced with a sense of complete entitlement. What is in this video are out of control animals who will, I believe, soon be unleashed on the general population.

      Really, all of this because of progressives? The hatred and ignorance on this site is appalling. Every generation for hundreds of years has complained that “kids today have no respect, no discipline”. Your parents said that about your generation, and theirs said it about them. Don’t read too much into a bunch of out of control kids at lunch time, it has been happening as long as anybody can remember.
      The stated goal of progressives is to undermine the constitution and destroy education. Bull****
      I have NEVER heard a progressive state that as a goal. I have no doubt there are some anarchists out there but they are a small number and anarchy isn’t really a progressive policy- never has been and I challenge you to show me ANYWHERE that ANY progressive has put forward those goals that you so clearly seem to believe all progressives believe. It is not true. As a progressive myself, and a participant in OWS rallies I suspect I have a lot more experience and knowledge about the progressive movement than the lies and distortions that are spread here. Guess what, we love this country too and we believe in working to make it a better place. We obviously have different ideas about what is ‘better”, but the vast majority of progressives are decent, honest, hard working people who care about this country and the constitution as much as you do. We just have different opinions about how to make this country a better place to live.

      I went to public schools, and you are 100% correct. It was exactly like prison; the whites sat with each other, the blacks sat with eachother, the hispanics sat with eachother (some sat with the blacks), and the asians sat with each other.

    And what were the union teachers doing? Just standing there watching? Things that are happening today didn’t happen pre-1979 when the DOE was created. Get rid of the DOE and teacher’s unions and this nonsense will fade away.

      Texas doesn‘t have teachers’ unions. They may belong to a teacher organization, however. The organizations have much less power. At least that was true in the districts in which I taught until I retired. Teachers could and did lose their jobs for imcompetence after given an opportunity to go on a “growth plan” to improve their teaching. I did not teach in predominantly minority schools, so I can’t be sure the same was happening there.

      Ummmm…if you don’t want your kid in that environment…Homeschool! Don’t give me the argument about money, either. What’s your kid worth? Stop expecting the government to do it and then gripe about what a bad job they are doing. I would require the parents to be AT the school sitting by their child all day if they weren’t behaving in class. If they don’t come in, they are arrested for child abandonment. Good grief, be a parent already! Touchy subject for me. Hubby is a public school teacher at a “behavior center”, and we homeschool. Excuses mean nothing to me.

      My daughter is in an all girls CATHOLIC highschool in philadelphia. It has a graduation rate of 98% and of those that graduate 98% go on to college. The public schools in Philadelphia have a graduation rate of less than 50%.
      When she was in grade school there were 2 black kids (brother and sister) in the school both of which
      completed school with honors. They were adopted by a single white father. Being black and a single parent is no excuse. The problem begins and is fostered at home

      When those two white boys were arrested for plotting to blow up their school of 1500, was on Dr Boyce and I did not se one post that said Whites Again, who would have thunk. But then again, blacks are not evil by nature.

      You all can think what you will, but if you go on those liberal sites read the posts, it is almost like being in a library where everyone is reading books. I swear I am not lying to you all. They are so mature and caring in their responses. SURE, there are a few nut balls cases who just want to be ignorant and go against the grain.     When High School Students are upset and there is no conversation to debunk what the problem is you will get nowhere.

    I think the election, the racial, and political talk is creating problems. No one realizes the hate campaigns trickle right down to our youth. They should not be subjected to the type of language being used in angry politics.

    I had to talk to my children about hate. They were out of line and calling Liberals Pigs and beating them up. Not the way I want my children to behave after watching the news.

    My Christian belief’s do not include hate nor Violence.

      Well NANNJ bad thing do happen in Texas, but this great state is under invasion from three sides. From the south by Mexico’ Naco population, from the north by Da-mn Yankees, and from the west by cast off Californians (who all want to instruct us on how we should be running the state). From your response title I must assume you are from New Jersey, which is largely a beautiful and wonderful place….mostly. So NANNJ, we got room for one more hereabouts so come on down pardner!

      This is my beloved Texas and we love Glenn moving here…get over it. But in my beloved Texas we are very diverse and as one commenter has already responded to you…border problems that your beloved President (ask Perry and Gov. Brewer ) doesn’t give a hoot about (exception Fast and Furious) but you can pay the taxes for them as well so….we are also home to Sheila Jackson Lee (Houston) who sprints to the President (all of them) after a message in order to be on tv. Sheesh. What does Glenn have to do with this video–the whole country reflects society now. Vote Santorum (or Romney if Santorum drops).
