Two Best Buy shoppers were in and out of a California store with just what they were looking for within minutes. The problem for Best Buy being that these two individuals did not pay for the 125 brand new Apple iPads they left with.
CBS San Francisco reports that thieves stole at least 125 iPads Thursday night at about 11:50 p.m, by prying open the store’s front doors and a security roll-up. San Mateo County Sheriff’s Deputies say the suspects then slid under the jacked-up security gate and dragged a large locked steel rack containing 125 tablet computers through a fire exit door.
Sheriff’s officials said the loss to the store is estimated to be more than $100,000. The suspects fled the scene and had not been found as of Friday morning.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 1:42amIt never ceases to amaze me how the worst cameras and coverage come from electronics stores. If I owned one of those stores I’d have miniature cameras covering everyplace in the store but the bathrooms. And it would be high-res multi-spectrum.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 2:33amIt’s also interesting that at my local BB iPads are considerably less than $1000 each.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 3:09pmRuler, iPads start at $499. That’s $62,375 if all they stole were 125 base models. The 64GB 3G model is $829. If all they stole were 125 of those, you’re talking $103,625. That’s not including any damages to the store, the loss of the rack the iPads were in, or any additional (beyond the 125) iPads or other merchandise stolen. It’s easily a $100,000+ incident.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 4:00pmWell, the machines have serial numbers….when the end users (knowingly or not) start using it, it will be discovered and the trail will lead back somehow. What amazes me is how these people were able to even get in. What the heck?????

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 12:40am125 iPads stolen = $100,000. That means that each stolen iPad cost $800 each? Do the math. 125 x $800 = $100,000.00
Report Post »I didn’t know that an iPad cost $800 each? The math doesn’t lie but this story might just be false. Or is it just an insurance scam to claim more than they are worth? I’m betting that Best Buy is pulling the wool over their insurance provider. $100,000.00? I don’t think so. Sounds like Barney Frank or Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid is involved.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 1:03amNah, the COST to Busted-Buy is $8c clams a piece. Come on, people!
No doubt the “liberators” will declare this as income on their fed, state and local income tax returns.
Truth be told, it’s a tax dodge (oldest one in the book) given that with all the paperwork, CPA (tax planning, accounting and tax prep) and Lawyer fees (advise re the production of income and conservation of assets, partnership filings, review of fed state and local regulatory statutes and environmental impact studies), union dues and payroll taxes, this is a business loss fer sure!
No, I see it every day in my work as an IRS examiner. (Tee-Hee-Hee)

If you actually look at all that crap as part of your job with the IRS, then the IRS must be abolished, all the crazy loopholes and nonsense you spit out abolished, so we can carry on here in America. Stolen iPads are either a crime or a fraud perpetrated by BestBuy… Not both.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 8:27ami was just about the same thing “the math doesnt add up.
Maybe bestbuy just spends money for the good of the people…They spend 100,000 on items to make a loss of 80,000…..that’s the only fair way to do it…BestBuy is not profitting off others…

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 12:28pmI don’t like Best Buy myself, but consider the costs of having to replace that securiy roll-down door, the other door, the rack and everything else. The costs go beyond te merchandise itself.

Report Post »The title yes but, the story says, “CBS San Francisco reports that thieves stole at least 125 iPads Thursday night”. I based my math on what the story said. Also, 125 is over 100. The $100,000.00 Best Buy is claiming the worth of the iPads is based on their count. I just used their figures.

Seems logical.
Speaking of technology … a $15.00 gift card is useless until it’s activated. Just seems as though they would use this technology in higher end products as well.

PS perhaps this is an attempt by BHO and Eric “THE RED” Holder to redeem themselves by tracking down the thieves on this side of the border?
PPS Why does the name “HOLDER” seem so bothersome when it’s the chief law enforcement officer of the US of A? I seem to recall that a “HOLDER” was the OK guy who held my, er, SOMEBODY’S stash when my, um, some guy’s room was being tossed looking for illegal substances??? Seriously, I never held, used or saw “Mellow Yellow” or anything else.
PPPS Barry, it’s not that we disrespect you, we just don’t like what you are doing. In spite of what many people thought, we really knew who you were before your were elected. You have lived up to EVERY expectation we had. 1) you never met a left cause you could not support. 2) You occasionally played your cards juuuust right, seemingly to go back on your promise to support the fringies bec they had no-where else to go, BUT then you BACK-DOOR gave them what they wanted when you thought nobody was looking and ONLY if the “gift” gave you an immediate advantage. 2) you would not bother to back-stab when a full frontal stab in the chest would do. Toss your grandmama under the bus? Why when you can go for the throat? 3) Tell em what they want; then do whatever makes Valerie and the Mrs. happy.
