‘Over the Top’: New Video Shows Excesses of GSA’s Vegas Trip in Stunning Detail

The scandal surrounding the General Services Administration’s (GSA) lavish “team-building” trip to Vegas has gotten so much bad press that even Jon Stewart of the Daily Show has weighed in to condemn it as the sort of thing that would inspire even progressives to become Tea Partiers.

They might want to consider investing in tri-corner hats, because the Huffington Post has uncovered videos of the whole lavish affair, and posted them all on their site. And if you thought the story couldn’t get worse, brace yourself.

The first video depicts the GSA employees aping a Hollywood-style red carpet interview, complete with bragging about what they’re wearing. A massive goblet of margaritas is also involved. Watch it here:

The second video depicts GSA employees destroying arguably the one thing taxpayers ought to pay for – their office supplies – all while the song “Push It To the Limit” blares in the background:

The third video depicts the oft-derided hired clown for the event, and the routine he apparently decided to perform. And it’s a routine making fun of – you guessed it – productivity at work. “Meetings are good to have in between breaks,” the clown mocks. “Government — if you think the problems we create are bad, just wait until you see our solutions.”

The employees also sing “Luck be a Lady” from “Guys and Dolls” following a performance by the “Green Man Group,” a singing group designed to ape the Blue Man Group. How much was spent on the Green Man Group has not been detailed.

But not to worry, the event isn’t completely unproductive. Employees also have to demonstrate their skills at blowing bubbles!

Along with these videos, the GSA also hosted a “talent contest” involving taped skits by GSA employees. The winning skit has already been aired all over Fox News and other outlets, and it involves a rap song extolling the glory of spending taxpayer money on lavish perks, since the GSA will never investigate itself:

However, this wasn’t the only video submitted. There were others – including a truly bizarre one involving, of all things, the children’s claymation character Gumby:

The new videos seem likely to further inflame the back-and-forth between the administration and House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) over the GSA’s spending. The California Republican has suggested that the White House tried to hide evidence of lavish spending by sitting on the inspector general’s report for 11 months.

The GSA inspector general “briefed the Obama administration 11 months ago on its factual findings of waste and wrongdoing at a lavish Las Vegas convention,” Issa spokesman Frederick Hill, told POLITICO. “Rather than taking immediate action to suspend or dismiss those identified by the IG at this briefing as responsible, the administration instead let them have bonuses. Despite their efforts to manage the story, the administration only took real personnel actions when there were no more options for delay.”

Administration officials have scoffed at Issa’s charge, noting that proper protocols were followed to investigate the conference spending and that, once it came to light, officials who were responsible resigned or were fired.

One thing’s for sure: The guy who devoted an entire rap song to the glories of his hypothetical reign as commissioner won’t get to see that dream realized.

    Those vids were a huge waste of time. That convention didn’t look all that fun…pretty lame actually. The biggest crime is not the money spent per person for the convention, but how the money was spent stupidly…from the sounds of it though isn’t that the whole purpose of the gsa?

    What is the point here? You can’t have an employee party on the government dime unless you are the royal “O” family? I find everything about this to be senseless.

      Good luck with that. If we locked up everyone for waste in the Government we would have to build jails on every street corner to hold them.

      Time to shove the Government off thier pedestal. Too bad we dont have anyone on the inside that has any balls to do so. I am sure it will take a revolution. The problem is that there are too many people living on Government money that will fight FOR the Government. The good news is that when we run out of money, they will riot and be eliminated by the Police State. Then we will have a chance to rebuild the Republic…with a small efficient, no hand out Government.

      F&F earlier this morning showed a message from the White House that showed previous expenditures for these GSA conventions and how they had increased under the Bush Admin, so this one was also still Bush’s fault. Give me a break. But, regardless of who is in office these outrageous shenanigans need to be reeled in. The hypocrisy of this event under 0bama’s reign is the fact that he made all of those accusations against private businesses who were doing the same thing.

      This is another hole in the barrel. If you look at it this way. The intent is to drain this nation. Picture a 55 gallon drum with a hose now slowly filling said barrel with water representing economic growth and export revenue. The hose is now running slower than ever before. We now have a long line of installed characters, committees, boards, and the like with pick axes in their hands each driving that axe into the barrel. They each put at least one hole in themselves.
      Our barrel is running out and only we can plug it and open the faucet up so we can begin to fill the barrel back up. We are now currently beyond being able to reach equilibrium and have to save what is left in the barrel and repair it. All efforts to fill the barrel are futile without repair the damage first.

      Be a part of the repairs and not the damage.

      I know, I’ve said it in GREAT detail before, but our government holds Americans in tremendous contempt.

      And if this doesn’t demonstrate that fact to you with crystal clarity, you need glasses. Our government literally hates Americans, but loves their largess. Government has failed. It can no longer deliver what it has been charged with, with any level of trust from Americans.

      If you look into what the GSA does and some of the links on its web site to agencies like EPP. This “Government Stupid” agency has turned into nothing but a promoter of the GREEN Agenda. The first thing that EPP talks on their site is the enormous buying power of the Federal Government. This is probably the agency that was buying the $500 toilet seats !!

How this caring nation could have been taken advantage of by the gimme’s for so long is sinful. True disabled people who need help and sick kids I have no problem with. You earn your medicare and social security I have no problem. You are illegal I have a big problem. You just want to milk the government for drugs and a free easy life I have a big problem.       I have one word for these GSA’rs….USELESS! I have an old freind that works for the govt agency called OPM (office of personnel management) & I’m pretty certain he collects his six figures doing pretty much the same as these GSA numbnuts, absolutly nothing but waste our money!

      BTW if they think they’re funny, they’d best guess again. I’d like to see them all fired….

    I am surprised the Huffington Post would even cover this story since so many of their followers are retired from the Government. I can actually hear their gasp ! now this is going to ruin it for the rest of us. Maybe the White House will offer a pardon and make sure none of these employees get fired oh wait that‘s right you can’t fire these people their union will get mad.

    Seriously? These guys make videos mocking the taxpayers while they go on extravagent spending sprees with our money? I honestly don’t know what is worse, the DOJ with the $16 muffins at their convention in DC or this latest GSA scandal. The absolute gaul of these “public servants” (sorry I threw up a little in my mouth) to go and collect per diem while attending a posh convention, in Las Vegas, at tax payer expense. There used to be a fraud waste and abuse hotline you could call to report such things, but now if you’re a whistle blower you get reprimanded and/or fired just like the whistle blowers from Fast and Furious.

    But what do I know, I’m not an enlightened member of the ruling elite.

    GSA is the same agency that has slowly forced DoD to go with their lease vehicles over just buying vehicles. Quick story, the contract I oversaw, had a GSA vehicle for picking up supply items. One month we usually put on about 300 miles, we had to make a few extra runs to the base, we ended up putting on about 400 miles that month. We had to submit to GSA why we put on the extra 100 miles, the GSA person stated, “We need to make sure there isn’t fraud waste and abuse going on.” Yet this is the same agency that goes wild. For years GSA has made the DoD jump through hoops and always acts like you are a crook trying to steal them blind. I guess it’s been their own dirty conscience that bothers them.

      I have an older sister, by only a year, that acts just like Obama and the GSA employers. There are 5 children, and she thinks she is an only child that deserves to steal (not her words) my mothers Power of Attorney, and money, has thrown her in a nursing home. She lies about us all, and I have been telling the family for 15yrs what she is, and they won’t believe. Now that are seeing her the truth and it is too late. Hope it isn’t too late for this country to wake up. Guess who she voted for!

    Let’s not forget that these are the same people mocking capitalism. John Stewart was mocking Bill O’reilly this evening for talking about the $4 per shrimp scandal, yet not a word about these GSA videos that are mocking those of us who pay taxes.
