When PA Gov. Ed Rendell found out that yesterday’s Eagles-Vikings game was postponed he got upset. When he appeared on a local Philadelphia TV station and was corrected by a weatherman about snow totals, he got even more upset. It all unfolds below, where he calls the postponement a “joke” and says “we’re becoming a nation of wussies”:

Posted on December 28, 2010 at 5:34amThe man himself if s wuss becasuee of thee way he ran the Commonwealth. The next governor has to clean up his mess starting in a few days and he left a big mess. He is right through in this. Football used to be a game of “real” men and “real” fans no matter the weather, rain, snow, sleet or whatever. The state won’t loose a dime over moving the game so thsoe that say it is over $ are wrong. We need more “real” men and women to be willing to go see a game through all the worst and take the “Super Bowl” out of the warmest climates and put it where football is supposed to be, in the cold and wet and among the hardest sitting in the NFL!

Posted on December 28, 2010 at 2:52amAbsolute scumbag. VETOED castle doctrine (and Megan’s law). Thinks that people who don’t have 24 hour ARMED security should have to SURRENDER their homes to any criminal who forces his way in, rather than ‘stand their ground’.
Now thinks that 20,000 drunk Eagles fans heading out onto the roads in a blizzard is a good idea. Want to know the real issue? He’s a fan and wanted to watch the game. When he didn’t get what he wanted he got pissy about it. Same as it ever was.

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 5:07pmSorry to say this idiot is my governor as well. He stated twice that there have been no incidents on the roadways. It’s likely because people with more than an ounce of common sense stayed home. Obviously this nut job would rather have 50,000 fans driving to the game and risk their lives to keep the ghost of Vince Lombardi happy. He cannot get out of Harrisburg fast enough!

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 7:02pmHe’s a dummycrat and therefore is deluded. Being a dummycrat, he also is a worshiper of Al Gore.
Gov. ED thinks the planet is getting warmer. He believes the Gore line to the Nth degree. Well, Ed can you read a ruler or did the progressive school system you attended overlook that minor detail? Did a poorly performing union teacher forget to teach the class about using the ruler?
Too bad Ed! The NFL made the right decision, not only for player safety but also for fan safety. Yes, football players do play in rough conditions, Green Bay, Chicago and New England are some examples. But for you to second guess the decision, from the warmth and security of the Governors mansion is the height of egalitarian behavior. Maybe, after Jan. 1, someone with some sense will occupy your seat.

Report Post »He attends all the games and I always thought he was a pretty good guy. Knowing him personally as I do. We almost never agree politically, but on this issue, Fast Eddie is on the money. Football + Snow +FUN…..Anyone who has ever played the game knows that. And besides, the fans would have had a blast…
GottaLuvIt
Posted on December 27, 2010 at 3:50pmI live in suburban Philly so I‘m very familiar to Fast Eddy’s ridiculous governing. First as mayor and now as governor. He’s just a blowhard who LOVES the camera!! Can you imagine how the NFL will be once he becomes their commissioner??!!

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 3:58pmEd has been attending the games for as long as I can remember. While a candidate for Mayor of Phila. He started the notorious snow ball fight at vet stadium in 1989. Hes a good, lovable regular guy. As Governor, he has a State Police Escort, BUT, as a private citizen, DA, and Mayor, he just liked to hang out in the stands, have a beer, and get a roast pork or steak sandwach at Tony Lukes afterwards. I am as right wing as they come, but you cant help but like this guy. I never thought I would say this, BUT, he is close, remember I said close, to Frank Rizzo league of regular guy politicians. No eliteisim here

The argument about the Safety of the fans is a joke its just one weeks worth of revenue its not like its going to kill you I mean they make hundreds of millions plus over a years time. One game with low attendence isn’t going to hurt the Eagles Financially.

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 3:09pmSorry Gov (actually not my Gov, I live in Virginia) – but I don’t believe no football game is worth the risk of getting somewhere injured or killed on the highway. There are some that do not know how to drive on snow and ice. The main problem the Gov overlooked – he forgot to add all those that will be drinking (and I do believe heavily to try to stay warm) that would endanger not those that go to the game but all those on the highway. I don’t side with the NFL on too many issues – but on this one I do agree.

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 7:45pmdoes the governor pass the budget – or does the legislature and he sign it. this is just another bit of ignorance on the part of Americans and how their government works. It’s like assigning all the faults of the previous 8 years to Bush, when it is the Congress, the House in particular that is responsible for almost control of everything in the government with the check book. yet the same people, now under a different president haven’t been able to do their constitutional duty again – where is the budget that runs the government – then and only then should they begin working on laws to destroy the freedom of the US citizens.

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 4:18pmI don’t know the governor on any thing else, so forgive me. On this I think he is right. I am not a football fan either. I didn’t hear him Upset. I think he was reasonable in the way he talked and certainly he was paying attention to the weather and the circumstances. Fault him when he is wrong just don’t jump on him because he is of the wrong political party or even a progressive over something like this. I think his points were reasonable and well made. We are a nation that are becoming woosses. Look we voted in Obama and the Democrats that have done so much damage and still it is a battle to get people to see the truth. People are soft, they want everything easy, they want an excuse not to go out and tough out a little snow. So the mayor says game canceled and that is the best excuse to stay home and pretend it is too bad outside.
If you find fault with everything a person does then you become not credable on the things that really matter. Think about it, especially the blaze!

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 4:44pm@J.C. McGlynn, at least he’s out in a few more days. Then, you get Corbett. BTW, Cheesesteak Eddie doesn’t understand the weather (as John Bolaris just pw3nd him), nor does he understand the mass transit schedules (Septa, Patco). While I don’t agree with Philly Mayor Michael Nutter politically, I believe he, the Eagles and the NFL as a whole made the right decision. As a die-hard Birds fan who bleeds Midnight Green, I can wait to see Vick take on Favre (or whoever) on Tuesday night. Apparently, I’m not the only level-headed fan. Rich Hoffman in today’s Daily News says the same thing. (http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/20101227_Rich_Hofmann__Eagles-Vikings_to_play_NFL_s_first_Tuesday_game_in_64_years.html?viewAll=y)
