STOCKHOLM (AP) — A Pakistan International Airlines jet carrying 273 people bound from Canada for Pakistan landed Saturday at Stockholm’s Arlanda airport because of a bomb threat on board, airport and police officials said.
The pilot decided to land the Boeing 777 after Canadian police received a tip that a passenger on board was carrying explosives, Stockholm police spokeswoman Sussie Illum said. The plane landed safely at Arlanda airport and was parked at the end of the landing strip as police prepared to remove the passenger.
“We are not evacuating the plane,” Illum said. “We are going in to apprehend this person.”
Bomb technicians were heading to the scene but police didn’t see an immediate need to evacuate because the plane and the passengers had cleared security checks in Toronto, Illum said.
The plane was on its way from Toronto to Karachi, Pakistan, when the pilot requested permission to land in Stockholm, Arlanda airport spokesman Anders Bredfall said. The airport remained open to air traffic.
In Pakistan, a spokesman for state-run Pakistan International Airlines confirmed the incident involved flight PK782 to Karachi.
“The plane has landed at the Stockholm airport due to security reasons, airline spokesman Sultan Hassan said.
Calls to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Canada’s public safety department were not immediately returned.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 9:09pmPersonally I don’t think the majority of young liberals give a rip about politics either way. Most of them got paid to troll conservative web sites, protest, register dead people for voting, show up at polling places to intimidate voters and engage in rampant fraud at caucuses notably Texas. Some have even set fire to Republican offices, hacked email accounts and attended rallies pretending to be a Tea Party member with racist signs. Pretty sad and pathetic but I guess when you don’t have a life that is what you do.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 9:49amdid I miss it? did he have a bomb? or ANYTHING to blow up the plane? If not it seems to me they are testing responce to threats to see what is done. Maybe I worry too much but frankly after I seen president Tom and President Barry at the UN and upon watching reports from Israel and Egypt I am starting think we are on the brink of BIG trouble. May God Bless us all

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 9:24amThe fact that radical islamists continue to find ways to get around security should be proof enough that the War on Terror needs to continue. They obviously have figured ou they can get by Canadian security, it is just a matte rof time….

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 8:42amThe fanatical behavior continues. The incident, however should keep us questioning our own airline security, which has had its share of lapses recently. We will never be able to lower our guard as long as extemism continues to be cultivated. And, oh, if it’s not to much to ask, perhaps ‘demogogue boy’ could put the crack pipe down for just a bit.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 8:56amI hate to nitpick, but the word *extremism* as a derogatory always raises red flags for me.
Do ye not remember Barry Goldwater’s maxim, extremism in defense of virtue is not a vice?
It’s not the extremism, my friend. It’s the ideology that kills. Radical materialism and radical islam both require unfit men to die. It’s not that the followers believe it with extreme passion. The problem is that they believe it at all.

The more these progressive machine plants squeal, over Beck, the TEA Party and the freedom movement in general, the more evident their fears are. Keep squealing lefties, we’re coming for you.
