GENEVA (The Blaze/AP) — Yesterday, the Blaze reported that Palestine was granted full membership to UNESCO. The United States promptly followed this development by cutting funding to the agency. But it seems Palestine is nowhere near done working toward U.N. acceptance.
On Tuesday, Palestinians’ top envoy in Geneva said he believes that joining the U.N. agency for culture, education and science will “open the door” to joining 16 other U.N. agencies within weeks.
Ibrahim Khraishi, the top Palestinian envoy at the U.N. in Geneva, told The Associated Press that Palestinian diplomats are now planning to capitalize on Monday’s landslide vote to allow the Palestinians into UNESCO by preparing papers to join the other U.N. agencies and a variety of other international organizations.
“Now we are studying when we are going to move for full membership on the other U.N. agencies,” Khraishi said. “It’s our target for (us to join) the international organizations and the U.N. agencies.”
He said the UNESCO vote sets a precedent to allowing such broad memberships.
“We are working on it, one by one,” he said. “Because it’s now precedent that we are a full member in one of the biggest and one of the most important U.N. agencies, UNESCO. So it will open the door for us now to go further in our efforts to join other U.N. agencies.”
The Obama administration cut off funding to UNESCO after Monday’s vote, and U.S. officials warned of a “cascade” effect at other U.N. bodies that might follow UNESCO’s lead. The Palestinians have triggered a long-standing congressional ban on U.S. funding to U.N. bodies that recognize Palestine as a state before an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal is reached.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 3:06pmThis will save the US a lot of money as all the organizations these terrorists are joining should be denied any US funding and the UN assessment will be reduces accordingly.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 1:11pmDe-funding the UN would go a long way toward balancing the budget… Seems the Palestinians have done more for our economy in just a few months then the democratic congress has done in the last 4 years.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 12:40pmI, for one, hope they succeed in their bid to join every UN agency. Then, in accordance with US law, the United States can defund this entire, fricking, stinking, terrorist organization and drop out of the UN altogethner. If this happens, the Palistinians will have done us a big favor and these losers can trade the Unitied States, which pays the bulk of the costs, with a terrorist wanna-be-state begging for THEIR money; and we can be rid of this blather_fest_podium for nutjobs and dictators for good!

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 2:13pmAmen Brother! The UN has been anti US for years. Why the US funds it is beyond me, especially in this era of tight budgets.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 11:43amI listen to a conservative radio station and they are claiming that a “Ham Sandwich” could beat Obama in 2012. I am really skeptical that any Republican we have running right now can beat anyone. We can not take this election lightly, if Obama wins then he would no longer need the Jewish vote here in America, so kiss Israel goodbye.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 10:54amJoin away! Every time you do, we cut funds to that UN agency. as soon as we get a true conservative in the White House, we defund the UN entirely and throw them out of the country for good. If it ends up being the US and Israel alone against the rest of the world, so be it!

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 9:41amNo surprise.
Let them into all of the agencies they want. The U.S. needs to pull our membership and ALL U.N. funding across the board.
We should stand with Israel and let the rest of the world know that a move against Israel will be a move against the U.S. and will be dealt with harshly and it’s non-negotiable.
Pull all American interest out the M.E. except for Israel. We can meet our own oil demands here at home. Tell the envirowacos, Greenpeacers, et al to get lost.
Wishful thinking…I know.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 12:02pmAgreed! Best moment in a long time for the US to pull out, reclaim their tax-free high profile land in NYC, and divert the money that has been flushed down the toilet for years by these bloviating Useless Nitwits.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 8:28amSince the UN is already a usless entity it really doesn’t matter who is let in. The UN is a bad idea which has finally gone totally rotten. We should withdraw from this cancerous organization and boot it out of the US ASAP.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 9:03amAgree, UN is merely a conference of corrupt officials from corrupt little countries all over the world. The UN is dangerous because its ultimate goal is a single world-wide socialist government.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 8:16amIsrael still controls it’s borders, not the U.N. Will America stand with Israel and against the world? The answer to that question dictates Americas future.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 7:51amDefund the UN immediately! They rely on the money the US provides them to survive. Kick the UN out of New York and watch it fade away. They have been a friken joke for decades now and need to go away forever. A bunch of liberal egg heads that think they can appease radical Muslims into NOT terrorizing the world. Muslims do not respect this approach. They respect strength and military might. We need to kill every radical Muslim terrorist in the world.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 7:47amMaybe this is our chance to leave the UN. Let’s stop funding the UN now. God knows we need the money to remain here to create jobs.
Let’s bring our troops home, put them on the border, secure America and work on getting rid of Obama. That is our only chance of saving America.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 7:35amWell, Conservatives have been calling for a cecessation from the UN for decades now. Thanks to the admittance of the occupiers in Sammaria and Judea into the UN, looks like the US’ money will finally be out.
Glad it was a Dem that pssed the original bill and that it happened on a Dem’s watch. Otherwise, the Left would be blaming Bush right about now. Debbie Blabbermouth-Schultz is trying to, anyway. Yawn.
