Palestinian TV’s Tribute to Arafat Features Violence and Incitement

In commemoration of the anniversary of the death of PLO leader and Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, Palestinian Authority television all last week broadcast a music video featuring violent, anti-Israel lyrics.

According to Palestinian Media Watch which monitors and translates the content of West Bank and Gaza media outlets:

The lyrics of the song glorify death, describing how “death for the sake of Palestine is good,“ and how ”I have poured the blood of self-sacrifice on your path.”

The song honors Arafat as someone who was “friends with the rifle,“ who ”declared the revolution and continued to fight,“ ”did not tire,“ and ”did not give up on the principles.”

The lyrics end with a promise to Arafat to continue his militant path: “We swear at your grave, by Allah, not to forget your name and your oath. We have not abandoned your weapon.”

Palestinian Media Watch staffers say the video clip was broadcast almost every day for a week coinciding with the seventh anniversary of Arafat’s death on November 11th. It was produced by the official television station of the Palestinian Authority and answers to PA President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Palestinian Authority’s glorification of violence was most recently demonstrated earlier this month when PA President Mahmoud Abbas rewarded terrorists released from Israeli prison with a $5,000 grant and announced an effort to provide new housing for those who returned to the West Bank.

As part of peace agreements Arafat signed with Israel starting with the 1993 Oslo Accords, the Palestinian Authority committed itself to purge its textbooks and official media outlets of anti-Semitic and violence-inciting content.

This music video and anniversary serving as another reminder of the Nobel committee’s questionable choice of former terrorist Arafat as recipient of its Peace Prize in 1994.

    VIOLENCE AND INCITEMENT were Arafat’s middle names. Most people alive today don’t remember the continuous chain of terrorist hijackings of aircraft and ships, to say nothing of the Munich massacre. No rational person regrets the death of that criminal, too bad it was from natural causes and not a hangman’s rope.

    What a joke!!! Arafat was nothing but a low life criminal and a thief who robbed his people of the money from the USA that was earmarked for their survival. His wife lives on the Left Bank in Paris with his daughter enjoying a luxurious lifestyle. You can understand why Americans are damn sick and tired of their hard earned money being wasted on these thugs and our politicians continue to support them. It is high time for the world to develop some back bone and stand up and support yourselves because WE THE PEOPLE are finished giving.

      I have to tell you … my friend has tried the others and he’s still here. My cousin twice removed used Jiffybomb and she’s not here to talk about it. Twice removed because the detonator took part and the bomb took the rest. We’ll use Jiffybomb from now on. That’s J-I-F-F-Y-B-O-M-B

    I‘m starting to feel like the third Intifada is imminent and I don’t like that one bit. The only good news is that the security barrier might keep it from being as bad as last time (emphasis on the might).
    Oh and by the way, anyone who thinks another Palestinian uprising is a good thing might do good to remember that the first intifada saw about as many Palestinians murdered by Palestinians as were killed by Israeli soldiers.

    They say, “Uncle Arafat wants YOU”,showing you a stick of C4. However, he did set a style in headgear. hehe

    Re the Peace Prize. It’s always been a political-agendaized (sic?) award. There was no suprise here when our psudo-leader won it.
