Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas
GENEVA (AP) — Palestinian diplomats are trying to muster support for a U.N. Security Council vote in New York on Nov. 11 on their bid for membership in the global body, a senior Palestinian diplomat said Thursday.
U.N. diplomats said earlier this week that a Security Council committee considering the membership bid would deliver a report on that day, and that ambassadors would then decide on the next steps.
Any member of the Security Council can request a vote on the Palestinian request, but a resolution recommending membership requires a minimum of nine “yes” votes and no veto by one of the council’s five permanent members – Britain, China, France, Russia and the U.S.
Once the 15-member Security Council recommends a country’s membership its application must be approved by a two-thirds vote in the 193-member General Assembly.
Washington, Israel’s closest ally, has already pledged to use its veto if Palestinian membership gets the support of nine or more council members.
“We still have time until Nov. 11, so there is a lot of efforts pushing certain countries to voting in favor,” Palestinian envoy to the U.N. in Geneva, Ibrahim Khraishi, told The Associated Press.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki told reporters in late September that Palestinian membership has support so far from eight Security Council members – Russia, China, India, South Africa, Brazil, Lebanon, Nigeria and Gabon. He said the Palestinians are lobbying for more support, including from Bosnia and Colombia.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas visited Colombia on Oct. 11 and was told by President Juan Manuel Santos that Colombia will only recognize a Palestinian state that has been established through negotiations with Israel, which leaves Bosnia as the likely key to a ninth “yes” vote.
Khraishi said “several parties are working” to secure the votes, but declined to elaborate. “I think that we will succeed to get the nine,” he added.
Abbas delivered the Palestinian application to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sept. 23. Hours later, the Quartet of Mideast mediators – the U.S., U.N., EU and Russia – called for a resumption of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations in a month, with the goal of a peace agreement by the end of 2012.
The Israelis and Palestinians are scheduled to meet separately with the Quartet on Tuesday.

Posted on October 20, 2011 at 4:57pmThe funny thing is that most of these Arabs and the Muslims in the surrounding countries are the ones who are occupying land that does not belong to them. God has promised the Jews quite a chunk of the surrounding land, and He will make sure to fulfill all His promises to the Jews. May you return quickly Lord and establish Your Kingdom on this world.

Posted on October 20, 2011 at 10:25pmOMGosh, finally someone who really gets it! This land was given to the Israelis by God Himself. There IS no such place as Palestine. The Romans gave Judea that name to be insulting to theJews. Palaestine is as close to Philistine as they could get; Romans always exploited emnities in order to keep their conquests uner their thumb. Of course, the Brits screwed the Israelis when they refused to fulfill the commitment of the Balfour Declaration. The Arabs claiming to be “Palestinians” are covering up the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood, the terrorists of Hamas and Hezbollah, along with the PLO are people who have been kicked out of Jodan, Egypt,, and Saudi Arabia. Those countries refue to let these people back in. Arabs living in Israel now are being treated better than if they lived in a Muslim Country, that’s for sure. They and their children (many, many children) enjoy all of the priveledges that Jewish families do and they are far better than their counterparts in the neighboring Lands. Those who bless Isael will be blessed by God and those who don’t bless Israel will not be blessed, but will be cursed. Pretty serious, I’d say. Shalom

Posted on October 21, 2011 at 3:50amAn ingenious example of speech and politics occurred in the United Nations Assembly and made the world community smile
A representative from Israel began:
‘Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about Moses: When he struck the rock and it brought forth water, he thought, “What a good opportunity to have a bath!”
Moses removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A Palestinian had stolen them!
The Palestinian representative at the UN jumped up furiously and shouted,
“What are you talking about? The Palestinians weren’t there then.”
The Israeli representative smiled and said,
“And now that we have made that clear, I will begin my speech.”

Posted on October 20, 2011 at 2:46pmNumber in Scripture by E. W. Bullinger (book online) says this about the number eleven:
If ten is the number which marks the perfection of Divine order, then eleven is an addition to it, subversive of and undoing that order. If twelve is the number which marks the perfection of Divine government, then eleven falls short of it. So that whether we regard it as being 10 + 1, or 12 – 1, it is the number which marks, disorder, disorganization, imperfection, and disintegration.

Posted on October 20, 2011 at 2:39pmHere is a little ditty about Palestine and Israel, maybe the Palestinians could explain the following before the UN votes for them and some additional questions like
Report Post »1. If this is about statehood how come Palestinian refugees won’t be granted citizenship in their new state?
2. If it isn’t fascist or racist how come leaders have gone on record as not allowing Jews in the new state (That’s Tolerance)
3.If it truly is about peace why won’t you agree to any peace terms or treaty.
4. If you wanted statehood why did you reject it in 1948?
5. How do you excuse the comments of leaders in your country openly advocating continuing hostility with Israel and a doubled effort to destroy it as a nation?
6.If it truly is about a state why won’t you renounce Hezbollah and Hamas and their genocidal ambitions.
7. If Israel truly is apartheid how do you explain that Israeli Arabs hold citizen rights, property and high level positions within the the government?
8. What insurance and security does Israel have if they give into your demands when it is shown through overwhelming evidence that your people have broken every peace agreement, treat, and cease fire and willfully supported or turned a blind eye to the terrorist organizations in your midst. As a condition of your statehood are you willing to be disarmed in light of your past aggressive actions and allow UN international law rule until your people can demonstrate they will walk the walk of peace instead of talking the talk?

We realized we couldn’t fight in a real battle like men so now we hide behind our oppressed women.
Boo Hoo poor Palestine we think that Hitler was really fine.
We’ll show you democracy in Egypt is great as we establish Our new Nazi party state.
But pay no attention to the name, we know Aljazeera, NBC, and CNN will make America to blame.
So America and Israel were no hacks just turn around so we can stab you in the back.
We can’t fight like honorable men so well use our shields our children.
Come on world we want peace just let us bomb the school of your daughter and Niece.
Boo Hoo poor Palestine although in 47 we were the ones to begin the Killing time.
So give us back the Golan heights and the west bank. They are excellent positions for our mortars and tanks.
Long live the borders of 67 well try again to send Jews to heaven.
So come on world join our cause just join the 4th Reich no need for pause.
Afterwards we can attack the west and those we don’t kill enslave the rest.
It will be a happy Muslim brotherhood day as we enforce Sharia law and execute everyone who’s gay.

These are barbaric people that will use any means to accomplish their goals. They play the sympathy card which many uneducated and misinformed people eat up like candy. It is time to take a hard line and give the Palestinians the platform to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist and enter into an agreement to establish true peace. As much as everyone would like for that peace to happen acknowledging Israel’s right to exist is a non-starter for these people. Israel should never compromise on their security!

Report Post »Lloyd Drako
Posted on October 20, 2011 at 2:23pmJordan is not Palestine.
In the early 1920s, to satisfy the Hashemite Dynasty, the British carved “Transjordan” out of their original Palestine Mandate.
Thereafter, “Palestine” was understood by its inhabitants and recognized by the international community as only the land west of the Jordan.
In 1947 the UN voted that this reduced Palestine should in turn be divided between a Jewish state, the State of Israel, and an Arab one, which was aborted..
The West Bank (”Judaea and Samaria,” if you like) was occupied by Jordan (the old “Transjordan”) in 1947-1967, and has since been occupied by Israel.
Jordan gave up all claim to it in 1994, leaving it to its native inhabitants–the Palestinians–and Israel to work out a settlement.
