Palin Admits Who She’d Vote for in S.C. — Newt Gingrich

Just a week after Alaska’s “First Dude” — Todd Palin — came out and endorsed Newt Gingrich, is Sarah Palin following suit? Not quite. But she did come close when she told Sean Hannity on Tuesday night that she would vote for Gingrich in the South Carolina primary.

“I do think that Newt is the one who won the debate, if you will, because Newt came out just like South Carolina‘s own Smokin’ Joe Frazier,” she told Hannity. “He came out there swinging, talking about work. Talking about jobs. Talking about work ethic.”

She continued:

If I were a South Carolinian — and each one of these primaries and caucuses are different, Sean — I want to see this thing continue because iron sharpens iron. Steel sharpens steel. These guys are getting better in their debates. … If I had to vote in South Carolina, in order to keep this thing going, I’d vote for Newt. And I would want things to continue. More debates, more vetting of candidates. Because we know the mistake made in our country four years ago, with having a candidate that was not vetted to the degree he should have been.

    I thought Palin preached the Constitution all the time but now supports Newt?
    He would have shredded it years ago if he had the power. Now after the past two presidents and their power grabs; He might be able to shred it completely if he wins.

      Romney was just a investor. I’m not impressed by his business experience.
      I’m sure if I was born wealthy I could make a business run too.
      Plus Romney supports NDAA which is completely un-Constitutional and Gingrich supports the U.N. and is a member of the CFR.
      Not the kind of president/vice president we need. They will continue the same progressive agenda that has been going on for the past century.

      Just more proof that Palin really can’t articulate a coherent conservative philosophy. Half the stuff she says is pure populism, not conservatism. And now, she has shown that she doesn’t object to influence peddling or serial adultery, either. How on earth can anyone think that Newt is electable when he has demonstrated in numerous ways that he is thoroughly unprincipled? My gosh, he was run out of Congress for ethics violations.

      Wow! I think we are looking at this the wrong way. Its about the end game here. When SC is over this Saturday, so will be 2 more Candidates. Santorum and Perry will be out. That leaves Mitt, Newt, and the Dr. all I see is good things to come. We should be thanking Ms Palin. Remember she didn’t endorse Newt. Then all we have to do is let Newt be Newt.

      OK, what Palin said was that in SC she would vote for ginrich so that romney would not win the SC primary. I Know, i know, i wished she had said Paul because he is for Liberty. My hope is that Paul gets 25% or better in SC. we will just have to wait and see who she backs in VA.

      I am a Romney supporter but I also like Paul, and I also wasn’t thrilled with his support for NDAA. I was listening to Glenn Beck‘s show where he was debating with Congressman Allen West regarding West’s support for NDAA and West said that the language of the bill needed to be changed to prevent the unnecessary detention of U.S. citizens and if you read the attached link to Redstate(I am not a big supporter of the Redstate blog,Erikson usually has an agenda and slants his information to fit his agenda), where it highlights who this bill covers it shows that the bill is not applicable to U.S. citizens.

      I believe the main purpose of this bill was to prevent people like Attny general Holder from prosecuting enemy combatants in American courts with the rights granted to U.S. citizens.

      I truly hope Paul stays active throughout the primary process and gives the other candidates a run for their money, because Paul’s influence is forcing Republicans to critically look at the party to see that it is no longer the party of limited government.

      How can any GOP leader like Palin, be thrilled about a life long career politician like Gingrich, who has lined his pockets from big government and who lacks morals,discipline and judgement to be President of

      I just love all the talk of woulda or shoulda. Yes we need a rock ribbed conservative as President but it ain’t nowhere in sight. Romney is NOT a conservative and yet Beck keeps going balls out to get him elected. Newt, Santorum, and Perry are the closest thing to conservatives that are on the agenda. Newt is the ONLY one that has any semblance of a chance. Right now, Romney’s super PAC is spewing out garbage about Newt and would do the same with either Santorum or Perry if they were any threat. We make each other better, even when we are on conflict, or maybe the most when we are in conflict. We must constantly improve ourselves to compete in the world of ideas, the world of jobs, the world of education, etc. It is very similar to the addage that whatever does not kill me makes me stronger.

    Palin only said she would vote for Newt in SC bc she wants to keep this going so we get the best one to beat Obama. Romney doesn’t want to beat Obama he wants to join him. Palin is a very smart lady…don’t fool yourself. How many times have we heard this is wrapped up after Romney’s win..it‘s not over until it’s over. The media can’t vote for people, although due to Iowa and the vote there we may never really know who won anywhere for sure. It is being blasted allover the airwaves that Romney is the first to win both states and then we hear that Santorum may have won bc of a mistake(?) in counting votes.
    Not too hard to figure out who the left wants to go up against Obama bc the democrats are voting for Romney in droves…yeah I know you will say they can’t vote, but they are registering again as republican. They planned this thing out and most everyone, even the media on the right is falling for it. We will get all the facts about Romney after the fact like we did Obama, unless we get someone in there that will speak the truth rather than refusing to call Obama a socialist or worse that he is…not call him a nice guy like Romney, McCain his sidekick, and all other progressives standing by him.       Here in Minnesota we had our own version of Doc-Ta Paul in Gov. Jesse Ventura. Many, if not most, of his policies were in the same vein as Paulzo’s and they were a disaster.

      Paul is not a nut…he is not my first choice but the guy has been right about a lot of things domestically. Our number one security concern is our deficit and if someone does not reverse the course we are screwed as a country. That is why Paul is my second choice. Gingrich,Santorum, and Perry only know government,they know nothing about the power of the private sector.

      Erik Erikson at redstate has a clear anti-Romney agenda. I say clear because when someone is confronted with facts that disprove their accusations, and then they continue with the same accusations, then that shows that they have an agenda.

      I’ll be the first to say Ron Paul is the most ideal constitutional conservative but he
      cannot beat BarryO. I dont like saying it but its true. Paul is one of 3 current viable

      Funny, I’m just replying to the people who keep bringing him up.
      Bring him up, I’ll defend him. Can’t help it I love my freedom, I love my personal property, and I would like to keep a portion of my income. I have never been interested in politics until I started listening to Ron Paul. Before I didn’t care because I knew it would always be the same old thing.
      Think any of the other candidates are really going to change anything? Think they are even going to try and get us back to the Constitution?
      Romney supports NDAA so he’s out.
      Gingrich supports the U.N. and the CFR so he’s out.
      These candidates are no different than any of the others we have had for so long.

      This is the reason I speak up for Dr. Paul. I see a real chance of getting our Constitution back.
      Next election we will go through the same routine of electing another progressive globalist that Fox news or CNN tells us to. Don’t hate on “Paulites/Paulbots” because they are passionate about their candidates beliefs. I have no other reason to be passionate about any of the other candidates. Sure they sound smart and cool and all that but they are all lies. Look at their records.

      Seeing as how isolationism worked so well (Pearl Harbor) before World War II, I don‘t think Ron Paul’s foreign policy is what America needs. And besides, the progressives “nudged” us to where we are for 100 years. There is NO way the welfare state could handle a cut and dry slash to a 0% tax rate. It will take a moderate shove back to the constitution each election cycle to clean this mess up. Ron Paul is too much too fast.

      That being said, as long as we can get an amendment to the constitution for a balanced budget that doesn’t exceed 25% of the GDP I’m all in. That MUST be step one.

      I don’t see the logic.
      ALL Anti-BHO peeps must vote and must get behind the alternative to the anointed one.
      Not voting is not being a patroit.
      It’s saying, “I didn’t get my way and my candidate so I am not participating.” See how weak that stand is?
      I don’t really care for Paul but if he were to get the GOP nomination I would vote for him.

      I‘d wager that we’re gonna see 4 more years of Marxist rule regardless of which candidate we nominate, because none are inspiring, to say the least.

      It’s probably going to take another 4 years – at least – to get yer average Joe woken up. Most people cannot think in a forward direction until they’re smacked on the head with something. Ah – then they wake up and come to.

      We’ve got a huge mess. You didn’t think it was going to only take 2 or 4 years to fix all this, did you?

      I never would’ve voted for a RINO anyway. If I can‘t trust someone to uphold the constitution they don’t get my vote. Period. Only one candidate has earned my trust and that’s Dr Paul.

      @Watchingobama, I‘m not sure that RP running as a third party can’t win. I think a lot of people are fed up with both parties. Regardless, the GOP needs cleaned out, bad. There’s too many big government, anti freedom folks with R’s infront of their names.

      As a Patriot and a Constitutionalist I would rather see the nation fall and crumble so we can rebuild it on the Constitution. That means going through a revolution. The Nation cannot survive with a RINO or Obama. There is no way it can. We are broke. If we dont cut out at least a TRILLION dollars in one year we are doomed. No one will do that but Dr Paul…He can veto all spending bills and get the Nation back on track if it isnt alredy too late.

      Yes…I will be there to pull you so called Conservatives out of the fire when it all crashes. I will die for my Country to fight Marxists on the left and Facists on the right. It makes no difference who crashes it.

      The only hope we have is to return to the Constitution, take our lumps and grow the way our Founding Fathers wanted us to grow. Without regulations, without a welfare state and without endless wars.

      Newt, Santorun. Perry and Romney are mor of the same. I do NOT understand why people refuse to see that FACT.

      Return to the Freedoms afforded in the Constituion or die…

      Such supporters of the constitution would allow obama to be re-elected because you would write rons name in on a ballot. Seems to me there would be plenty of blame there for 4 more years od obama. I think ron should be in a position to influence our countries direction financially. He has some solid points. He needs to leave national defence to the experts.

      How will he shrink government?

      What taxes will he cut?

      Only one candidate has produced a plan to cut the debt and the size of government. Has Romney, Newt or Santorum produced a similar plan?

      In case I haven’t written it enough….we’re toast, people. The Great One was correct in saying we’re essentially living in a post-Constitutional America. The question is not “if” our Constitution is going to be scrapped, but to what extent.

      Which of the remaining candidates is all about the Constitution? Should we really be concerning ourselves with any candidate but him at this point? At what point does the Constitution take front and center stage and the other trivial nonsense get shelved?

      One thing we have learned since the mid-term elections: Electing RINO’s change nothing. If you do it again and expect change, you’re insane in the membrane.

      @Republicorps We’re not arguing that people other than RP know the constitution. It all comes down to how they interpret it. Unfortunately, we’re apparently not allowed to discuss the different theories, I learned from Justice Scalia, regarding interpretation on this site.

      If given the choice between a liberal utopian and a NeoCon utopian as to which was most vile, the NeoCon wins by far !       I don’t think many here can read or bother to read, she said if she was in SC, she’d vote for Newt to keep the campaigners vetted. Let’s not vote for Romney because the establishment wants him, let’s not vote Santorum because Glenn wants him. The best man who can take this country back, balance this budget, cut the spending deserves to be vetted. Stop with the Palin hate and read and comprehend what she is saying. Good grief people.       I think you meant to say “It’s valid criticism that she was a governor who quit her position before her term was up.” You can also mention things like touring the country pretending she was going to run for president, just to run off with the donations given by supporters when she finally admitted she wouldn’t run. Oh wait, she never admitted she won’t run? Right, because then people would stop donating.

      Palin is not stupid, and was a good motivating tool for the GOP (although she ended up being as divisive as BHO has been for the country at large). But the people who worship the ground she walks on are deluded if they think she‘s anything but a talking head who can’t handle the responsibilities of public office.
