ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — An event featuring former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and conservative commentator Glenn Beck on Saturday night is likely to bring out two very different crowds.
Thousands of fans who paid between $73.75 and $225 for tickets will gather inside the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center to see Beck introduced by Palin, the 2008 vice presidential nominee and a potential 2012 presidential candidate. The two are tea party favorites.
Outside the downtown center, critics plan to protest and wave signs denouncing Palin and Beck as intolerant fearmongers spreading divisiveness across the country. As many as 200 protesters are expected to show up, said one of the organizers, Lynette Moreno-Hinz, who is part Tlingit.
“We feel that they are inciting racism in what they do and what they say and how they go about it,” she said.
Beck, a popular Fox News Channel personality, will donate his speaking fee from the event, and Palin is not being paid for her appearance, according to Christopher Balfe, president of Beck’s media company. The amount of the fee is not being disclosed, and will go to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides scholarships and services to families of military members.
The event originally featured only Beck, according to Christopher Cox of Northern Stage Co. in Anchorage. Only later did Cox think of adding Palin and she agreed to participate.
Earlier this week, Palin promoted the event on her Facebook page, saying Beck could be counted on to make for an interesting and inspiring night.
“I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will ‘never forget,’” Palin wrote.
The date of the event is a coincidence, Cox said. He didn’t know what Beck planned to talk about during the show.
Despite the steep price for admission, all but 700 of 4,500 tickets have been sold, said Therin Ferrin, with a private contractor that operates the city’s convention centers.
As for any protesters, they can legally assemble outside the Dena‘ina Center if they stay on public sidewalks and don’t block entrances.
“They’re welcome to do what they want,” Ferrin said. If people get too rowdy, he added, “then it becomes a police matter.”
That’s not going to happen, said Moreno-Hinz. The protest and an earlier rally planned for Saturday by the same organizers are being dubbed as “Stop the Hate” gatherings.
“It’s going to be a peaceful event,” Moreno-Hinz said of the one outside the convention center. “We’re sending a message that we support the peace and the love of the community, of our nation, of Alaskan people.”

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 5:21pmI’m quite sure to a man, woman or child, anyone attending the 8/28 event would not include “racist”, or “divisive”, or “hateful” in their description of it. In fact, quite the polar opposite. Take the time to watch it on YouTube if you weren’t lucky enough to attend, as I was.
I think it’s safe to assume that this event will be in much the same vein, character and flavor as was the 8/28 event, given that the same two top participants make a repeat appearance.

If these people would sit down and listen to Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin they would see that they always speak facts, most of the time playing quotes from the “horses mouth”, to prove their points.

There were bunches of college kids there. One of my friends asked some of them what they were protesting for and a girl piped up and said “they came to our dorm and hung up fliers that said they would feed us and pay for our bus ride to Washington.“ She never did say who ”they” were that hung up the fliers but, I can only guess.

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 5:15pmI would like to see a follow up on the actual number of protesters outside the event.
I‘m betting that the event’s ticket holders packed the place and the protesters numbers in the tens rather than hundreds.
Did they break double digits in attendance or not? Unlike a crowd of hundreds of thousands it’s not inconvenient to count up to 200.

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 7:40pmI attended the Bold Fresh tour in Norfolk in May and I was expecting many protesters at this event. There turned out to be three – two very, loud vocal women and one man dressed up in a clown costume who didn‘t like Bill O’Reilly. It was very comical to say the least. Even at the 8/28 event, I only saw about three protesters out of 1/2 million people. So you are probably right, the numbers will be exaggerated, especially since Alaska is a conservative state to begin with.

It’s one thing to have a different point of view, it‘s a whole ’nother ball of wax to repeatedly make baseless accusation. After reading numerous posts by “D”, the two things that came through most clearly was the wild accusations and the recurring theme of Beck and Palin are full of hate. Post after post after post. However, since there is no evidence, no record of specific hateful actions or speeches, other than what “D” may project on them; it‘s clear it’s not a point of view, but a vendetta. “D” is an agitator, more interested in stirring up controversy than actually making any kind of progress.

While on the subject of racism the NAACP the CP is for colored people which excludes white people and that equals racism. La Raza (the race) again when you have an organization based on a single race is by definition racist. If you had a united white collage fund these same groups would be crying racism! But the united ***** collage fund is just fine? Seems the only racist talk is coming from these so called people of color.
We are all part of only one race the human race! Remember it’s supposed to be context of character not the color of your skin. These organizations have shown that they are lacking any moral character.

Liberals are truly shallow, unable to logically think through positions, and just love to throw out slogans. being informed doesn’t interest them, the liberal idea of being informed is being able to recite slogans and talking points.
Anyone that has listened to Glen Beck or Sara Palin knows they don’t encite racism, just the opposite, they insite reason and brotherhood with all races and relegions. But you know libs, they have to call names and accuse the opposition of what THEY are doing. Look at what they do and say, it is easy to document the lefts incitement everyday. It is so much more pleasant when responsible Americans join together in such a supportive and friendly way.
The next day I visited the Holocaust Memorial and found the similarity between SEIU busing protesters to a bank execs house to terrorize his family and the beginning of similar the Nazi actions against Jewish businesses. We no longer have the twin towers and lost tens of thousands of citizens at the hands of Bin Laden, who was let go on several occasions by a liberal democrat president who was more worried about where to put his cigar then our country.
Liberal Progressivism is what is wrong with our country today, and it infects both parties and just about every part of local, state and federal government.

Isint that exactly what the progressves have been doing with the tea party, glenn beck, and anyone else that threatens to disrupt their little money game they have going? Beck has repeatedly and explicitly warned people against violence. Violence and things like burning the quran do not help the cause and are not acceptable.
