Palin & Beck Talk ‘Ticket’ in Anchorage

Palin & Beck Talk Ticket in AnchorageANCHORAGE, Alaska — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin introduced Glenn Beck at an event in her home state, telling several thousand roaring fans that the conservative commentator has inspired millions.

Palin told Beck while on stage at an Anchorage convention center Saturday night that the popular Fox News Channel personality represents why so many citizens never have to apologize for being American.

Palin, the 2008 vice presidential nominee, and Beck took turns recalling what they were doing when they heard of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The pair also joked about speculation that they would make an announcement at the event about a possible 2012 presidential run. Beck told Palin that he would not be a candidate, while Palin did not answer a similar question.

Blaze editor’s note: The Anchorage Daily News expanded on the “ticket” talk:

At Saturday night’s show Palin and Beck mocked Internet speculation that they would be making an announcement about a 2012 presidential run together. “I’d like to announce that in 2012, we will both be … voting,” Beck said.

Beck asked Palin if she was going to run. She didn’t answer, instead responding by asking him if he was going to run.

Beck said that he was not.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP’s earlier story is below.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — An event featuring former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and conservative commentator Glenn Beck on Saturday night brought out two very different crowds.

Thousands of fans who paid between $73.75 and $225 for tickets were gathering inside the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center to see Beck introduced by Palin, the 2008 vice presidential nominee and a potential 2012 presidential candidate. The two are tea party favorites.

Outside the downtown center, about 60 protesters waved signs and denounced Palin and Beck as intolerant fearmongers spreading divisiveness across the country.

“We feel that they are inciting racism in what they do and what they say and how they go about it,” said Lynette Moreno-Hinz, an Alaska Native who helped organize the protest.

Holding a sign that said “Freedom isn’t just for zealots,” Brian MacMillan of Anchorage wondered where all the passion from the right was during George W. Bush’s presidency, when the U.S. economy began its downward slide.

MacMillan also urged Palin and Beck supporters to ease up on President Barack Obama.

“Give the man in charge his due,” he said. “He’s doing the best he can.”

Beck, a popular Fox News Channel personality, will donate his speaking fee from the event, and Palin is not being paid for her appearance, according to Christopher Balfe, president of Beck’s media company. The amount of the fee is not being disclosed, and will go to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides scholarships and services to families of military members.

The event originally featured only Beck, according to Christopher Cox of Northern Stage Co. in Anchorage. Only later did Cox think of adding Palin and she agreed to participate.

Earlier this week, Palin promoted the event on her Facebook page, saying Beck could be counted on to make for an interesting and inspiring night.

“I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will ‘never forget,’” Palin wrote.

The date of the event is a coincidence, Cox said. He didn’t know what Beck planned to talk about during the show.

Despite the steep price for admission, all but 700 of 4,500 tickets have been sold, said Therin Ferrin, with a private contractor that operates the city’s convention centers.

I have been enjoying this Web-site since it went live. I have never blogged before and I am enjoying doing so now. I enjoy reading like minded posts about what is going on in our country.

I am not enjoying reading all the replies to the progressives who are only on this site to create trouble. Let them go elsewhere. You will NEVER change their view. Just let it go!

Please, please, stop replying to them.

Write about the articles, answer someone you LIKE, but please STOP replying to these people. We don’t all have to agree, but the progressives that are on this web-site are just creating trouble not trying to engage in intelligent dialogue.

    Please, stop replying to them.

He’s right. You can’t argue with these people, they simply stick to their beleifs and never attempt to refine them or examine them. They then go on to reply to criticism with either irrelevant quirks or strange logic. You should always question even your beleifs to make sure you truly still beleive them. It helps weed out the idiots from the intelligent mind.

The people who voted for Obama because someone else said to, or because they didn’t look into it except to hear it from the news or elsewhere that the other guy was horrible, need to start caring about their choices lest it cause them great remorse when they find themselves in a gulag because the government says it’s “good” for them or society. These people make me sick to my stomach…..

On most of the sites I blog, anytime there is a Sarah Palin posting, the trolls show up and start their cr@p. I think the likes of HufPo/LGF, etc. have some sort of Palin radar that sends them out to the conservative sites to annoy. I absolutely agree with you, DON’T FEED THE TROLLS! I am re-posting this again:

I agree, we are ourselves needed to debate intelligent augments. And we need to challenge ourselves to new peeks of enlightenment and understanding.

At the same time, we can’t just live in a fishbowl with our own ideas. Being challenged by opposition with a legitimate argument should be answered intelligently. But responding to the same repetitive foolishness is a waste of time.

But to be fair, there are some here who are just starting to understand what they believe in and responding to the opposition actually strengthens their argument. It’s good to know what we believe is right. So working out some new muscles is not a complete waste of time either.

My frustration come when there is a very important issue to discuss and the opposition posts unrelated and unmeaningful garbage on top of the page which throws the whole topic out of whack and creates confusion. It’s seems demonic.

What we really need is a moderated message board where topics remain a topic and irrelevant responses are relocated to its appropriate place.

I agree with you all. I have been guilty of making quips to dingleballs, and I will make an effort to stop it, being a smartypoop is part of my DNA, but I will bite the bullet for the cause.
Actually, I don’t mind anyone’s comments no matter what their political leanings may be. I come on discussion boards to discuss! What I do mind is folks who are rude, crude, name-calling or intentionally offensive, even when responding to someone who has been that way to them. We are grown ups and should act accordingly.
I often suffer from insomnia and read a lot of sites of all kinds and generally will not respond to something that has been cut/pasted from another website, it’s one thing to supply a cite or a potion of an article to support a point, quite another to cut/paste someone else’s point, especially just to cause problems and/or be insulting. I have in the last two years watched two separate MBs get destroyed and become nothing more than toxic insult factories thanks to progressive trolls and their tricks. It’s up to each of us if we want to see that happen here.
Even folks with the same end goals, can have some different and viable ideas on how to get there. I welcome anyone’s ideas, and hope this site does well.
Someone said earlier, we need only to stand on the truth. I think the Beck/Palin’s/TEA Party members have proven that. The more the progressives bash and demonized FOX, the more fair/open mined folks looked for themselves, and their ratings went up. Same with the others. Becks show got more viewers, folks really started listen to what Palin actually was saying, and the TP membership also grew after scrutiny. Let them demonize and protest….the truth stands on its own. Those who cry wolf, lose at the ballot box. JMO.

I wish I were able to attend, but Alaska is not within my driving radius.

I would like to address one thing that Danglingbags said, though…

“Obama was forced to spend to save the destroyed economy that Bush left him. This is not blame. This is just fact! Without the short -term deficit spending, we would have been in a world of hurt. At least the stimulus spending was focused domestically. It did safe jobs and our 401K which Bush suceeded to pretty much cut in half.”

You cannot throw money at a problem to make it go away. If your personal bills were more than you could afford, would you buy a new car to try and boost your morale? No, you would probably safe and change your budget. Congress is doing the opposite. They are spending more money to try and fix the debt…

Spending your way out of debt is like eating your way out of obesity. It may sound fun on a late-night “news” show, but it is really just a failure as a plan.

I would encourage those like our person here, danglingbags, to take your valuable time, energy & ALL CAPS to help your own people be successful. Even though they do make the site more interesting (sometimes), their nastiness can get in the way of bigger issues. Who was with ACORN, sueing banks who didn’t want sub-prime morgages, but helped force them on fannie and freddie mac? Is it the same one who wants ‘stimulus’ after ‘stimulus’, to the point of making everyone one class- ‘poor’? What kind of bubble is he making now? I read a lot of diverse news sources. The thing that upsets me about FOX is they rely too heavily on what AP reports. Half of what AP reports they either have to retract or correct. The best articles on FOX’s website come from the blogs that their field reporters do. Amy Kellogg wrote one a couple days ago about the open letter that one of Bin Laden‘s old comrades from the days of Afghanistan’s war with Russia. The only place I picked that story up besides Kellogg’s blog was British media. FOX is really odd sometimes.

It accomplished a few important things; I saw first hand what it was, took notes and we discussed it later, and the teacher was very uncomfortable with the whole idea and tried to talk me out of it. I found that very strange and somewhat unsettling.

After reading many of Mr. D-Bag/Bags posts a profile of his character has emerged. Mr. D-Bag/Bags claimed in one post that he is a Veteran. But he hasn’t provided any evidence of his claim such as naming his branch of service or the years he served or his rank. Since he can’t provide any proof, let’s assume he’s not a Veteran. If he’s lied about that we can also assume he will lie about anything and everything.

So who is he? Well, he seems to have plenty of time to post on this blog. There is rarely a story where Mr. D-Bag/Bags hasn’t posted a banal stereotypical generality on “evil right wingers or evil Christians”. All that posting is proof that Mr. D-Bag/Bags doesn’t hold a real job with real working hours. If he holds any job at all, he’s probably an assistant; assistant pool boy, assistant gardener, assistant kennel cleaner.

Mr. D-Bag/Bags spouts liberal rhetoric with no specifics, sort of like a politician does. My guess is Mr. D-Bag/Bags is the assistant pool boy or assistant kennel cleaner for a wealthy democrat in Congress, someone like John Kerry, Christopher Dodd, the late Ted Kennedy or Nancy Pelosi. He picked up his talking points by listening from behind the bushes at patio parties. Mr. D-Bag/Bags loves his job because he doesn’t have to work very hard and he gets to listen to and rub shoulders with the ”Movers and Shakers” in DC (even if rubbing shoulders consists of picking up wet towels or cleaning up doggy do).

On rare occasions (and this is a major job bennie, whoo-hoo!) Mr. D-Bag/Bags gets the keys to the Benz tossed to him so he can go to Whole Foods and pick up some arugula and watercress for the next party. And would he also stop at a 7-11 and pick up a couple of packs of Virginia Slims for TeRESSa? She simply cawn’t be seen buying cigarettes, as her husband voted for The Health Care Bill.

Mr. D-Bag/Bags is hoping someday, someday TeRESSa will notice his cute butt and maybe he’ll get promoted from pool boy to “Boy Toy”. Unfortunately, TeRESSa doesn’t do that sort of thing, it’s soo messy and she just had her hair done. But Mr. D-Bag/Bags shouldn’t lose hope – because Barney Frank noticed his cute butt many months ago so there may be some “Boy Toy” work to be had after all.

What Mr. D-Bag/Bags doesn’t realize is that these wonderful rich liberals he’s so taken with are nothing but “Useful Idiots”. Mr. D-Bag/Bags probably doesn’t know what that term means so here’s the Wiki definition:

““Useful idiot” is often used as a pejorative term for those who are seen to unwittingly support a malign cause through their ‘naive’ attempts to be a force for good. For example, the term has been used by some commentators to describe people they believe are effectively supporting Islamic terrorism, often by favoring an approach based on appeasement.”

Mr. D-Bag/Bags, your employer serves a “useful” purpose right now; therefore he’s a Useful Idiot. But come November your employer will probably be looking for a new job. So Mr. D-Bag/Bags, your Dream Job is quickly coming to an end. Picking up wet towels or doggy do isn’t high on the scale of marketable skills employers are looking for; which makes Mr. D-Bag/Bags just an “Idiot”.

My main beef with you fox news, corporate backed tea partier is that 99.9% of you voted for Bush and other GOP candidates and never said a word as he and GOP congress blew billions wars, Medicare Part D and countless other spending bills. We watched as Bush ecomonic policies, created by a housing bubble that was created by banks taking advantage of deregulation, spiked this economy with borrowed tax cut dollars while we all bought imported products. Then 98% of you voted for McCain who wanted immigration reform, voted against Bush’s tax cuts and wanted to close Gitmo too.

Then when Obama got into office, your valid concerns of responsible government were hijiacked by huge corporate interests such as Mr. Armey’s freedom works, News Corp and myriad of other corporate interests…IE Koch Brothers. You allowed bogus issues such as Obama’s citizenship cloud your thoughts.
You let these corporate interests brand the TEA PARTY with huge marketing campaign and free promotion on Fox News. I know all tea party members are not racist, but there are many in your ranks and these people have tainted your brand forever.

I feel that the TEA PARTY is now based on hypocricy. Your image is you were just fine with GOP created debt, but once the African-American gets the wallet you suddenly have problems. Obama was forced to spend to save the destroyed economy that Bush left him. This is not blame. This is just fact! Without the short -term deficit spending, we would have been in a world of hurt. At least the stimulus spending was focused domestically. It did safe jobs and our 401K which Bush suceeded to pretty much cut in half.

Whether you believe it or not, Obama is concerned with middle class. Now, the tea party is doing nothing but doing the bidding for its rich corporate backers.

The sad thing is economic arguements are not what the tea party is making….itstead it is used as vehicle to promote hate and division. Obama is a commie and evil….it is the mexicans fault, Islamic center, burning Korans, DADT, ACORN are all topics that the Tea Party choses take up. All it does is divide this country.

This is why you will fail long term…..you may let the GOP gain a few seats in November, but the DEMs will keep control, the corporate interests will put their money elsewhere and the TEA PARTY will be left even poorer and more angry……..

@ Danglebags. I’m an African American. Black as Hell! Blacker than Obama. ok?
Are there Racists in Tea Parties? Maybe. but i havent noticed any of it at any event or meeting I have ever attended – Tea party money comes from working class people. Financially, we’ll be just fine.

The banks did not take advantage of deregulation… Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae and their Washington Insiders did – leaving the banks as scapegoats

As far as us dividing the country… It was your Exalted Leader and my current President that started dividing the countries into “regular Americans vs those Americans that resort to their bibles, relgions and guns” – that divided the country…. and The country should be divided as long as the President wants to confiscate the wealth of those who have earned it, and those who think that portion of it should be taken to help pay for those things that they think should be a right, simply by Virtue of them being American, or “made it” to the US. I dont owe you or any other man anything – let me make that clear – except by those contracts and obligations agreed to and executed by supply and demand.

Burning Korans? it’s free speach. Just ask those who put Jesus statues in bottles of urine, stomp on the flags or set them on fire.. It’s even free speach when people show up at grave sites of veterans to protest…. and economic arguments are actually what unites all Tea Partiers

And dude – can you explain to me, how Obama had to spend to keep the country from going bankrupt? That defies logic, so much that no one on the left has even tried to explain it! How can obama inside of 18 months have run up deficits larger than the first 40 presidents combined as a way to SAVE the economy. its nonsense. YES we hated that George Bush spent money we didnt have on No Child Left Behind, on expanding Medicare. The Bush Administration spent money on WAR – which is a function of the federal gov’t. The rest is not. The President can neither create jobs, nor SAVE them…. He can however pick winners and losers…l If you were a union guy at GM… then you win . .. If you were a Bond Holder, an Investor who owned stock,,,, Then U lost. and with that kind of attitude – Nobody in their right mind invest in businesses knowing that the President – who is the Chief Lawman of the US – refuses to honor contracts at his leisure to pay off his cronies!

@blackman, I don’t know who you are but I like your attitude. I have watched the U.S. change into something unrecognizable for almost 2 years now and hope and pray that voters will come to their senses come November and again in 2012 so we can set America back on the right course again.

I don’t live in the U.S. right now but watch the news daily and it makes me sick to see the corruption (in both parties), we need non-professional elected officials in office but limited to, at most 2 terms. To hell with congressional seniority, we need to get them in and then out before they become too corrupt and power hungry. The race baiting has got to stop, it feels to me like race problems are getting worse not better, brought on by the non-stop class division coming from the left wing progressives. I remember the kind of hateful rhetoric going on now as the same as during the Vietnam era except that it is getting worse. All Americans need to come together and put the U.S. back on the track it was always meant to be on, Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, not the socialist/marxists track it is on now.
I pray for all of us.

In fact, most Americans, it turns out, have a negative view of the Tea Party.

Anyone else remember that the downward spiral of the economy was after the liberals took back the legislature and that unemployment doubled within the 3 weeks following PeaBo getting elected? Went from circa 4.5 to mid 8.5% after the election. I do not excuse unethical or immoral behavior by libs nor conservatives. We need less lawyers and politicians in politics. The system was designed so that it would not be run by career politicians and when you have lawyers in a law making, not law interpreting branch, it creates a whole slew of problems. We already have enough to worry with having a supreme court justice that has opposed teaching Constitutional law and has never served on the bench as any kind of judge, even a dog show.

Beck is a decent guy. He is saying we need to have values, bring back the meaning of a whole family and do our best to have strong foundations at home so that we can build upon it in our future. I sure do not think the socialist way of thinking, communist either, where everything belongs to the society or community, including your children and that eventually you will need a license to procreate (but not abort, apparently) is looming on the horizon.

Be good parents and lead your children, teach them, instill values in them, and make them accountable for their actions. Boy do we need Scouting…support the Scouts.

      @blackman

What an inspiration, we need more like you with your conviction. Keep it up! God Bless.

On a side note, I don’t want Palin running for office. I think she can do better by giving speeches and finding candidates for office. I think she should be more involved in the energy debate since she has had more experience in that field, but I don’t think she should run. There are more people out there that are better in my mind, like a Herman Cain.

Just because someon speaks in front of a crowd doesn‘t mean they’ve “enriched” their brand.

Furthermore, Palin did not get paid and whatever Beck was being paid he donated to help military families. I don’t know—- maybe it‘s just me but that seems like personal enrichment and hate towards our troops if I’ve ever seen it!! (end sarcasm)

Palin told the crowd to “ease up on POTUS, he’s doing the best he can”.
That sounds like a racist remark!!! (that was more sarcasm, if you didn’t notice)

Stop your hating on Beck and Palin. You are so uninformed about what they say and what they stand for and you’re spewing lies. It’s sickening.

Hey…D-Bag! Get out of your parents house and go get a real job. You make these statements and have no clue as to how we “Conservatives” reacted towards Bush for his spending. I guess you never watch Fox News or the shows like Beck, O’reilly, Hannity…if you did you would know that they held Bush’s feet to the fire fo his spending. And that spending is NOTHING, NOTHING …compared to yoru precious OBAMA and his Congress. Look up and numbers and MAN UP you idiot!

The bad thing about the 60 protesters is they probably had to bus in about 50 of them from some where else. either that or had to pay homeless people to stand there

DingleBerry or Dinglebag, whatever, I’m having a hard time understanding how you keep defending your Messiah. Obama was forced to spend to save the destroyed economy that Bush left him? Sorry, but you are gravely mistaken, the numbers don’t lie:

The truth of the matter is that we Republicans voted no on 98% of all the spending, but your Messiah said it was in our best interest. That’s not blame, that’s truth. How did that save jobs? He’s using money to calculate how many jobs COULD have been created. But he hasn’t stated what particular jobs were saved. The private sector and the rich are who create jobs. The middle class consists of workers, not employers. Are you that dumb that you can’t put 2 and 2 together? It’s common sense, something you obviously don’t have. The Tea Party is used as vehicle to promote hate and division? We stand for lower taxes and small Government. That’s common sense knowledge. Topics that the Tea Party chooses take up are the real issues that Obama chooses not to handle. The lack of doing his job and upholding the law is dividing this country, not us Tea Partiers discussing the issues. But why am i trying to make you understand, Obama probably paid you to Troll this site and attempt to destroy your reputation in the name of the Messiah. God help you. If you were smart, you’d do better research. Knowledge is Power, use it.

You tell em Blackman! Well said. I was cheering your words on just now! I‘m beginning to guess that if we didn’t have Danglibangs, or whatever his name is, the stark contrast wouldn’t be so relevant. It almost makes stating our case, a bit easier. Don’t you think?
