Palin Defends Use of ‘Blood Libel’ Following AZ Shooting, Criticizes Media

In her first interview following the horrific shooting in Arizona, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spoke to Fox News’ Sean Hannity who asked her to explain her “blood libel” comments following the shooting and her political action committee’s use of “crosshairs” to target congressional districts during the 2010 midterm elections.

Palin said the use of the “crosshairs” map was nothing new, noting that both parties have used similar rhetoric in the past. But in no way was her map related to the mentally imbalanced alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner.

Defending the release of her video message following slanderous attacks against her, Palin said the criticism of her statement was being used as “another diversion” to draw the public’s attention away from important issues that need to be addressed.

Finally, Palin condemned the knee-jerk reactions of the “lamestream media” who sought to connect her to the shooting incident in Arizona.

Here’s a question for Sean Hannity to ask….

“Sarah, Giffords called you out for being irresponsible and said it would have consequences. Subsequently she was shot. On a personal level, as a Christian, how did that make you feel?”

Oh I forgot, Sean Hannity is not a reporter so therefore he doesn’t have to be fair and balanced.

With Sarah it is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. I thought the timing and content of her rebuttal to all the liberal spin as to her playing a role in Arizona shooting bla, bla, bla., was excellent and on time. She was going to be damaged regardless what she did, so I would rather her go on offense. She should stay in role that she has been playing as a powerful conservative voice. Sarah is too polarizing to win the nomination, presidency not withstanding and too inexperienced.Creestoff I don’t necessarily disagree with you logic about foreign states disrespecting women in high office, but the past 3 administrations have put women in secretary of state positions which is equally important strategically for diplomatic reasons. May sound sexist but true none the less.

The mass media is out to damage her in any way she can. She is a threat to their agenda. Frankly, I’d love to see her run and win. I think conservatives would have a great deal of satisfaction when the journ-O-lists at the Huff-n-post, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC all have to call her “Madam President.”
As far as other possible candidates, I like Bachman/Allen West/Mike Pence. I don’t trust the RINOs like Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, etc. We don’t need another Bush, so Jeb is out!

As a Jew, I’m familiar with the historical context of the expression “blood libel,” but don’t think that in that context it has a single thing to do with what Sarah Palin was trying to convey. I agree with what she said on the subject of the “alleged” shooter, (I love how the media all keep printing “alleged shooter,” when we all know he did it.) and abhor the way that the liberal media have been so quick to paint her in a negative light… again. She is an intelligent, strong woman, who speaks her mind, and that is what the liberals dislike about her the most.

I don’t see where Palin said anything objectionable either. I would make another couple of observations.
Those speaking out against her find it an affront to them that someone who disagrees with them could have the gall to defend themselves against death threats. How dare she?
The folks attacking her behave like they are very frightened of a strong intelligent woman. Perhaps not as scared as men in a fundamentalist religions are of “their” women but close.

I am a spiritual Jew and I believe the “blood libel” context of Palin’s use was accurate and correct! In looking into the term “blood libel” I found a historical writing called “The Blood Accusation” by S. Zeitlin, Dropsie College, which states, quote “The libel of using blood for ritualistic purposes was originally brought against Christians” (first Church apostles) “The first direct charge of this accusation was brought against the Jews in France in the year 1144.” Other historians who back this up are, Justin Martyr (also known as Justin of Caesarea)(100-165), Origen and Tertullian. So this term does not exclusively belong to the Jews nor should it! Once again the media only tells us what they want us to believe. Question with boldness and do your own homework!

Now that the Left will be debunked from their “Republicans aren’t offering anything” – when in fact they are still offering what they have been offering on healthcare for decades. Real reform. They now have the microphone beginning this week. The myths, hate and lies coming form obama and his minions will be exposed finally. The Republicans can hold up solution based reforms that will be embraced my the people, then repeal and replace. I suspect the progressives are in for a sad surprise.

America hates Obamacare – and they have laid out an all out propaganda campaign to attempt to gain support. They have failed miserably. NOW – the Public will actually see WHAT the choices have been.
Make no mistake — Repeal/Replace has overwhelming support, and the public hasn’t even seen all the benefits of it. That happens starting this week.

I still say I hope she does NOT run for president. She would make a great VP though. If she runs she’ll just polarize the republican base. I’m really worried that way too many republicans are smelling the blood in the water and planning on running for president. After they are through trashing each other to get in the primary, whoever winds up on the ticket will seem like a bad candidate due to all the mud slinging. We need the RNC to stand up to all of these wannabes who won’t stand a chance and tell them “NO!”

I would love to see a Jindal/Palin ticket. But the Ron Pauls, Kucinouhes (?), and others need to stay out and not water the votes down like green party/ libertarian candidates do. Whoever wins the 2012 republican primary needs to win by a landslide so the libs know we (conservatives) are behind OUR candidate. We put someone on the ticket who barely edged out 2-3 other people and democrats who are sick of their own party/ideals/results won’t buck their past voting tradition and vote conservative republican.

Palin (in my opinion) has been too badly damaged by the circus (liberal media) to take it all the way. Most of their filth is lies/slander/spin…but I also look at the downside of having a female president when so many of our foreign problems are with nations who look at women as 2nd class citizens and not too be taken seriously. Better for her not to run and get selected as the VP on the ticket, put in 4-8 years as the VP and then run on a successful history for the big chair.

Right. It is amazing to see the knee jerk, unthinking, reaction of the left to label Conservatives like Sarah as dumb for what they say or how they look on camera. Others here have referred to the low IQ of the right. I always get a laugh because I know what my IQ is and how small the percentage is with a higher IQ. I also know that amazingly, Conservatives as simultaneously dumb, low IQ, rich, business executives and trust ourselves better than the government to make the right decisions. At the same time the brilliant left are unemployed, union sheep or rich due to some accident of fate: singing, acting or athletic talent or trust fund babies.
The proper response to this however is not to defend the accusation but to defend the premise. Of course the left uses crosshairs and targets: their objective is power through political conquest. But what part of “get the government off my back” implies that I promote violence? I am opposing the use of force by the government I pay for to remove my liberties.

Do hear about what Napoltano is doing on the border? Do we hear about how the fed is driving us into the ground or the banks are running this country?

Last week, Beck told you about a BBC video, Century of Self…I was surprised to see this on TV..I would ask that you watch this then rethink what all of teh media is trying to do..Their is another video I would ask you to watch..it is called the power of nightmares…We have a party of one and their is only one solution in 2012

Bingo! This is the part you libs do not get about Palin! She is a straight shooter and does not play the same old political games of trying to say whatever makes the audience feel good. She is radioactive and that is why we love her. She does not play games she says what she believes.

Can she win the election? I seriously doubt it. If she wins the primary then republicans may have a huge problem. I think she can carry 40% of the country but it will not be enough…Not unless Obama really screws up. But that 40% are the wide awake Americans who know what the score is. Maybe that percentage will increase. With every “radioactive” incident Palin wins more and more people over to her side. She is a breath of fresh air in this rank political climate. She would make an awesome president…I just doubt she can win it…

@WhiteTeaParty Why does Palin have to accept responsibility for the cross-hairs? She did what every other candidate and political party has done for years. The cross-hairs did not cause this tragedy. So, she did nothing wrong. Why should she be held accountable for something that did no harm and for something she didn’t do? You’re basically saying “While I agree the cross-hairs did not cause the tragedy, even though I don’t expect the Democrat Party to answer for it, I expect Palin to answer for it, and I‘m going to criticize her for it if she doesn’t, and I‘m going to criticize her for it if she doesn’t do it just right, according to my approval, and, oh hell, I’m gonna pick apart every little thing she does until I can find something to criticize her for.” In my opinion, the left owes her a HUGE apology. Sarah Palin’s interview with Sean Hannity, just aired, was almost pitch-perfect. It was dignified. It was well-modulated. It was strong. And it was thoughtful. She kept her composure even as Hannity put on the screen some of the vilest, most vicious attacks against her — the sorts of things that were so bad that if they were said about me they might shake me to my core. She explained her thought process after hearing about the shooting in Tucson, and explained the timing of her videotaped message, and explained her use of the term ‘blood libel.’ She insisted, rightly, that strong and honest — but respectful — political debate should not be stifled, and noted that it only seems like the right is asked to stifle its views. She was correct on all counts.

      @WhiteTeaParty

How exactly is Sarah Palin condemning the idea of “Free Speech”? Please share with the rest of us here in what way she is telling her audience that her opponents’ rights to speech should in some way be abridged. I would like to know which Fairness Doct– I mean legislation or action she is advocating to hinder the expression of or silence her opponents.

I would like to take time here just to unravel the almost pseudo-logical, inversed reasoning we see here by WhiteTeaParty. You see, WhiteTeaParty has twisted reason to distort the perception of reality, or in more Randian terms, to reverse the cause and the effect. You actually criticize Sarah Palin for being focused on the assassination–rather execution–of her ethos, and say that she instead could have paid more respect and emotion for the lives of the lost. You put this burden on Palin, yet by making this argument, you invert the cause and the effect. What is the cause of Palin’s necessity for interview and speech? The political and cultural assassination of her character by the media.

How can you condemn Palin for not reaching out and being sympathetic, for responding to extremely seditious, unproven, and calumnious accusations and assumptions and not pay more tribute to those lost, without placing even more criticism on the media that have absolutely murdered (more vitriolic and metaphorical rhetoric) and politicized the victims for the sake of attacking their opponents? How is it that you attack Palin for her self-defense, when the cause of her self defense is more disgusting and disrespectful than the object of your criticisms?

The only reason Palin even HAS to make these interviews and speeches is because of the seditious and disrespectful media that have used this tragedy for their own political purposes.

      @AKMIIKEUS

Please, enlighten all of us peasants and serfs of low IQ with your evidence of Palin’s racism? Your comment was absolutely riddled with fallacies, from ad-homenims to just simple assertions with no evidence. We here, the peasants of lower intelligence, would like to see your evidence for your arguments.

Liberals do not understand authentic people. Liberals always have an agenda. Their speech is designed to influence, direct or redirect people’s thinking. They will do it by any means necessary. In their mind they believe that everyone is the same. That everyone has an agenda and they are doing the same thing they are. So when someone like Sarah Palin says that people can lead themselves and big government is destroying America, Liberals are confused and angry. They think “what is Sarah Palin’s agenda? What is she trying to pull?“ or ”She is just stupid.”

Their minds cannot grasp that authentic people mean what they say. People succeeding without the governments help to them seems like a selfish act that will destroy society. Separating yourself from the herd and taking full advantage of our God given freedoms is a scary and intimidating action that they will never understand.

Notice the crawler today, something about “Palin’s popularity dropping.” I didn’t really either…

It’s not that she makes the “Left” nuts. It’s just that they actually see her for who she really is… an ill-informed, self-aggrandizing narcissist quitter. The “nuts” part comes because she gets so much pointless coverage for her scripted comments.

Any good liberal, worth his weight, doesn’t “hate” $arah Palin. They hope that she RUNS. The primaries would be PRICELESS!!!! How would the other Republican candidates denounce her without alienating the solid 22% who would follow her to the ends of the earth-no matter what she says! I haven’t read the Gingrich thread yet, but I can guess…. PLEASE STAY IN THE GAME $ARAH!!!
