Palin Denies Reports ‘One Nation’ Tour is Canceled, Says She Has Jury Duty

Palin Denies Reports ‘One Nation’ Tour is Canceled, Says She Has Jury DutyJUNEAU, Alaska (The Blaze/AP) — Sarah Palin is disputing online reports that she has canceled her bus tour of historic American sites, saying in a Facebook posting that her schedule will be tight the next few weeks because she’s been called for jury duty. Earlier today, The Blaze covered the rumors surrounding the reported halting of the tour.

Palin said Wednesday that her “One Nation” bus tour would resume “when the time comes.” She added that she’s looking forward “to hitting the open road again:”

Imagine our surprise when reading media reports today that the “One Nation Tour” has been cancelled. Why didn’t anyone tell me? Oh, wait, that’s because it hasn’t been cancelled. (Good ol’ media… you never cease to amaze!)

As I said myself at the end of the east coast leg of the tour, the summer is long, and I’m looking forward to hitting the open road again. The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan.

I wouldn’t think it to be such a slow news day that, what with numerous wars and serious economic woes concerning Americans, a bus is driving news stories today. The next leg of the tour continues when the time comes. In the meantime, no one should jump to conclusions – certainly not the media with their long track record of getting things wrong or just making things up.

- Sarah Palin

Palin took some more shots at the media via Twitter:

Palin Denies Reports ‘One Nation’ Tour is Canceled, Says She Has Jury DutyThe 2008 vice presidential candidate traveled from Washington, D.C. to New England by bus in May in a trip that generated intense interest and fueled speculation about her national ambitions.

Palin is among the top tier of potential 2012 presidential candidates in polls of Republican voters. She has said she plans to visit Iowa, where the state’s caucuses begin the nominating season next year.

True, the Democrat-media complex has been very unfair to her, but in all reality, her spokesperson should’ve just come out and said from the get-go that she was on jury duty.

WHY? Palin owes nothing to anyone.
The libs hate her and the conserves want her to their bidding to save them.
Who don’t the conserves take a page from Palin and stand up and fight back? Or just let this one lone woman fight these battles?
Read the crap from yesterday….even the conserves were bashing Palin.
*How dare she let us down.* The nerve of her to not do what we want. And even if she ran, half of the right would be against her.
Honor, character, integrity, truthful, has brass cajones, AND she is willing to stand up against the left alone and fight.
IMO, Sarah Palin needs to tell the whole country to kiss off, but she won’t. She loves this country. BUT…..stop letting her fight alone. Help her!

ColdWarVet– I get you. They should be concerned if she runs. On another hand, regarding the bullying and the crazed woman bashing..I am going to throw something out there..Remember when Hillary, the second most popular primary dem was backhanded in Denver and Obama picked Biden? ( a dem primary candidate who was posed to retire and did not garner a full 1% of primary votes). Hillary, as a woman, was forced to take her beating and then submit to the will of Obama/Ted Kennedy (who gave support for Biden and bribed Obama to pick him)..My point is that the establishment on the left is used to beating women into submission. Palin won’t go quietly into the night. So, they must destroy her.

Sarah made this announcement first when she was still in the New England states. She said her Bus Tour would continue throughout the Heartland and the West after a pause so she could take care of business in Alaska. Guess the moronic Media missed the announcement because they were hot-footing it back to the Mother Ship so they could go through her emails. Idiots!

I think it’s a little too coincidental that Sarah would be called for jury duty right in the middle of her national bus tour. I wouldn’t be surprised if her being summoned for duty right now is a political dirty trick by the Left to sabotage her. And, of course, if she had tried to get out of serving on the jury, just imagine the stink the Left would have raised about her not doing her civic duty.

Yet, even tho they may have tried to interrupt her trip, it still becomes a news story about Palin! Gotta love it. If it was an intentional tampering with the rotation of the jury pool (is that legal?) or if it was just a “luck of the draw”, makes no difference. She still made the right call and responded to her civic duty. YAWN… omg, she did what was the right thing to do, and then it became a news story, and now it has been exposed as she chose to correctly carry out her duty to country by going back to serve. Wow.. this is A M A Z I N G Yet somehow the libs have made out that something is wrong with this picture. For me, the only thing I see wrong, is IF (note the word if) the jury rotation was tampered with… That is the Real story. Will there be an investigation into that? Not if it occurred by the hand of a media protected anti-American marxist.

I think she’s the most ANTI-Obama person out there that also has Executive experience, Energy (Oil, etc.), charisma, outwardly shows her enthusiasm & passion to do anything it takes to get this nation back to what the Founders intended. She’s proved her love of country, her “no fear”/“rogue” attitude to deal with people of her own party if necessary like she did as Gov. in Alaska – not worried about “pc”. Also she‘s been the most attacked and maligned person I’ve ever seen in recent history. We still don’t know what the others may have in their “closets” but we know just about everything about her and her family after these years of malicious attacks from the left and we know how she handles it – great! So there probably wouldn’t be much to worry about there. But if not President, I’d love her, along with Bachmann, West, Cain, Rick Perry (think he’ll run), all the Tea Party types to be in authoritative positions. I‘m also not that sure it’ll be Obama that runs – may be Hillary and that’ll affect who would be the best. But most agree – ANYONE not a Dem would be far greater than Obama & people will vote for whoever the nominee is.

Jordan, you are obviously ignorant or just plain dishonest as to why Gov. Palin stepped down. Alaska is one of a few states where political leaders have some financial responsibilities for lawsuits no matter how they turn out. Also, the citizens of Alaska had to pay for certain aspects. Palin was 17-0 in defeating lawsuits that were not brought on by the people of Alaska. She was being ganged by the DNC and their attorneys coupled with her poltical enemies in Alaska. She was found innocent of every charge. And as soon as one was over, another one started. She did the honorable thing by her family and her state. What would libs have done if the RNC lawyers attacked junior senator Obama with 17 lawsuits that he had to pay for in his personal defense and the people of Chicago had to pay for in other legal defenses? I don’t know if you are capable of being honest..but try..for once. The Palins spent a lot of money on these lawsuits and she won every one of them. But still had to pay. How fair is that? Assuming you care about fairness.

@blusbonnett – in what world do lawsuits go away because someone quit the position? She quit because she saw an opportunity to benefit financially. Can‘t and won’t blame her for that, as people quit jobs everyday for better opportunities. She quit because the heat was too great for her and the opportunity for change was there. Two parts came together making it the right time to quit and benefit from that action.

Do you have a choice? No. When called for jury duty, you then have less rights than the criminal. You show up or have a bench warrant issued for your arrest.
Once you show up you can either serve [if chosen] or try to get out of it. Until a jury has rights, I will not serve on it.
Next time you get that jury notice, try to just call and say, “sorry, but I don’t want to.” See what happens.

Since we are talking about jury duty, let us not all forget it is the RIGHT and the DUTY of a jury to not only judge the guilt or innocence of a defendent, but also to judge the law.

Jury nullification, learn it, use it.

      Actually, NO!

THe jury is the trier of fact and fact only. It is the constitution and the founding legal traditions of the this Nation that empower the Judge to be a trier of law.

Your post is just another example of tbagger contempt for the Constitution.

What media reported on this besides the blaze. Wasn’t on CNN. Really, besides this website, who reported on this? I haven‘t heard anything for weeks about Sarah’s vacation or whatever it is she’s doing.

Encicom, do not EVER attempt to talk to me about Constitutional Authority, you will get your arse handed to you!

Chief Justice John Jay wrote in Georgia v. Brailsford, 3 U.S. (Dall) 1 (1794):

It may not be amiss, here, Gentlemen, to remind you of the good old rule, that on questions of fact, it is the province of the jury, on questions of law, it is the province of the court to decide. But it must be observed that by the same law, which recognizes this reasonable distribution of jurisdiction, you have nevertheless a right to take upon yourselves to judge of both, and to determine the law as well as the fact in controversy. On this, and on every other occasion, however, we have no doubt, you will pay that respect, which is due to the opinion of the court: For, as on the one hand, it is presumed, that juries are the best judges of facts; it is, on the other hand, presumable, that the court are the best judges of law. But still both objects are lawfully, within your power of decision.

This is just one, I could supply many more Chief Justices, Presidents, Judges, etc calling for the Constitutionality of Jury Nullification.

Heck, the ENTIRE state of Wisconsin told the Supreme Court to take a flying leap when it came to the fugitive Slave laws. Of course you Encicom would be on the wrong side of history, AGAIN!

THE MEDIA HAS IT OUT FOR PALIN, WE ALREADY KNOW THIS

The media wanted to smear her every way they could and when they didn’t get their way, aka the schedule of the tour, they whined. Where has the unbias media gone, they are non-stop agenda driven, especially MSNBC, Politico, etc.

It is quite interesting that her biggest supporter has turned against her. Now he is making bets that she won’t win the Presidency: http://tiny.cc/ut1zz – Sounds like quite the guy… though he still has some good words for her.

In 1895 the courts changed the jury nullification rules by a 5-4 decision Encicom. I am sure that you know this right? Well?

Just because the courts decide they do not like something, does not make it lawful or unlawful.

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

Where does it state anywhere in this section that the jury does not have the right to judge the law? Courts are NOT allowed to write legislation. Please show me the pertinent legislation regarding jury nullification.

What all of a sudden changed in 1895? Did the law all of a sudden change? Or was it the judicial activists at that time change the law of the land? You can attempt to denigrate people all you want, it does not prove your case.

Just as all leftists do, with any logical argument, you go right for the Saul Alinsky method.

So can I Encicom, you madame are a maroon.

The parenthetical asides in her statement are remarkably reminiscent of The Onion’s columnist, Jean Teasdale. If Palin would just make a reference to Patrick Swayze or Hubby Rick, they would be interchangeable.

Here’s to the continued success of the “One N(Liberty Bell)tion” bus!
