Palin Event Cancelled Over ‘Safety Concerns’ After Tucson Shooting

The Sharon K. Pacheco (SKP) Foundation announced Saturday evening that it has canceled its upcoming 2011 Patriots & Warriors Charity Gala featuring former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, citing safety concerns.
“Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Governor Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns,” Foundation director said.
The event — a fundraiser for military families who have lost relatives in combat — was scheduled to be held May 2 in Denver.
ABC 7 in Denver reports:
The Patriots & Warriors Gala and Fundraiser is an event with a two-fold purpose – first to honor service members and those who have given of themselves in service and/or sacrifice to our country. Americans are encouraged to nominate deserving individuals for the organization’s Freedom Award, which will be handed out to the honorees during this event.
The former vice presidential candidate was scheduled to give the gala’s keynote address — an announcement made Friday on the organization’s website. While no direct threats have been made against Palin, but a recent increase in negative rhetoric aimed at Palin “raises concern for her safety and the safety of others despite the call for civility in America” following the tragic Tucson shooting, the director said.
The group’s announcement also stressed the need to make military families as comfortable as possible:
Additionally, we must protect the emotional safety of military families. “Military members and their families have been through a lot due to the wars. We have a responsibility to protect their emotional safety just as well,” says Founder Leo Pacheco. “And unfortunately, some have overshadowed the purpose of this event by concentrating on their personal hatred of Sarah Palin, which is truly sad.”
Although Palin will be unable to join them in honoring military families, the director noted that the organization deeply respects Palin and appreciates her support for the military.
The event will be rescheduled with a new speaker, TBD.

Report Post »You are a lying left wing *****.
The Secret Service reviewed all audio and video from the 2008 Campaign and never heard the “kill him” threats that you and your Communist friends claimed were uttered.
This same type of lie was made during the anti Obamacare protests that were held at the Capitol and a $100,000 reward that was offered for any video/audio proving racist comments were made was never paid, because it was a lie.
So go to hell with your BS.

Posted on February 5, 2011 at 10:03pmI call “bull-puck”. If Mrs. Palin wants to be seen as a serious political contender, then she needs to demonstrate leadership. Ronald Reagan was shot, yet would go on to become one of the greatest American presidents ever. If Palin and others wish to play it safe, then they might as well stay at home. It’s dangerous out there with nuts on BOTH sides of the aisle, but politics is not a game for the timid. Heck, even First Lady Michelle Obama had said in an interview that, in reference to a comment about why Pres. Obama ran for the presidency, and why Mrs. Powell didn’t want Gen. Collin Powell to run back in 1996:
“Yes, there’s always a risk of getting shot, but fear of getting shot should not be the basis for making a bid for the presidency.”
Personally, after this, and after learning of Palin’s plan to trademark her name, I‘m getting the feeling that she isn’t a serious candidate. I guess I’ll vote for Romney or some other possible candidate then…

Posted on February 5, 2011 at 9:47pmBack in 2008 Sarah Palin attracted criticism for accusing Mr Obama of “palling around with terrorists”, citing his association with the sixties radical William Ayers.
The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling “terrorist” and “kill him” until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric.
But it has now emerged that her demagogic tone may have unintentionally encouraged white supremacists to go even further.
The Secret Service warned the Obama family in mid October 2008 that they had seen a dramatic increase in the number of threats against the Democratic candidate, coinciding with Mrs Palin’s attacks.
If Sarah Palin is being threathened then maybe she should look in the mirror. She dished as best she could a couple of years ago and she didn’t care.

It is becoming obvious that Palin is the strongest candidate we have on the conservative side.
Proof #1: Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman say she’s too stupid to be president. They haven’t been right about anything in 4 years.
Proof #2: John McCain, Barbara Bush, Michael Medved, Newt Gingrich, Jeb Bush, Jimmy Carter, Karl Rove and Bill Maher say she doesn’t have the experience to lead a country. Which of these dweebs would you say has displayed “leadership” that lasts? None is my view.
Proof #3: The left is attacking Palin (and Bachmann) with childish, foolish, ad hominem attacks that lack substance, facts or even reason. On it’s face – this seems to certify Palin as the one conservative candidate they can’t defeat with blackmail (pictures or past sell-outs), better ideas, or even coherent arguement.

Quoting the founder “some have overshadowed the purpose of this event by concentrating on their personal hatred of Sarah Palin, which is truly sad.” That would be people like you. The event is to raise money for the military families and being highly respected by most military personell Palin would have brought in a lot of people and donations for this organization. But closed minded a-holes like you would rather spew irrational hatred therefore preventing an organization from raising needed money for military families. You previous praise for the military is phoney. I‘ll bet you haven’t done a damn thing for anybody. Wait, I stand corrected, you and your irrational Palin haters have prevented this organization from raising much needed money. Way to go.

I am sure that she gets paid for some speaking engagements but so does everyone else who is asked to go and do these things. I do know that a lot of the money she has been paid has gone to Charities, like Wounded Warriors, etc. What makes her making money by doing these engagements anyway? Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Dick Chaney, Carl Rove, the lists goes on and on, all make money by doing this. What is so wrong with Sarah Palin doing it? Period.
I believe we are givin free reign over our emotions as we live a mortal life here on earth, and that our decisions, based on our knowlege of the Word, should reflect in our actions, we may be given a pass from time to time when we are truly angry about the actions of others. Like how I wanted Lightner to fry slowly, unrepentant of his sins for what he did to that 9 year-old girl. And then I look to God in heaven and i beg forgiveness for that. It is arrogance on my part, and not for me to pray for. The repentance of one’s personal salvation is between that one and God, and is not my business to wish for, either way.
