Palin Files for Restraining Order Against Alleged Stalker

Local news outlets in Alaska are reporting that former Gov. Sarah Palin has filed for a protective order against Shawn R. Christy, a Pennsylvanian 18-year-old who has in the past mailed the governor receipts from gun purchases and a disturbing note that said, he “tried to follow the Bible” but had “evil and wickedness in him.”
According to reports, Palin filed for the restraining order in Anchorage District Court, claiming Christy had been stalking her and her family via phone and email messages since the summer of 2009. The temporary order expressly prohibits Christy from “following, approaching, confronting, watching or otherwise staking or threatening to stalk or assault” Palin, her family and her friend Kristan Cole who also filed a complaint over Christy.
A hearing for a long-term order has been scheduled for Oct. 13.
According to Cole, Christy’s threatening demeanor had concerned the family and friends for months, but they were forced to act this week after the man called her, announcing that his plane had landed in Alaska. “When someone sends you proof that they’ve purchased weapons. Proof that they know where you live. And said that they are looking into purchasing a one-way plane ticket to Alaska and then calls from a cell phone with a 907 number, it’s over the line and we need protecting.”

Violence such as this is unacceptable from either side. Leave the Palin family alone. If you disagree with her instead of making threats get off you butt and vote. This young man is of age to do so. We all know who they are and we can easily and quickly scroll past their garbage and see what the sane people have to say.

His actions are an attempt to deprive me of an outlet for my opinions. He would silence a representative of my free speech. I stand with Palin on many issues and her loss would be a blow directly to that freedom. His actions of targeting a political figure is a much greater crime than simple threats to a single person. When you fight to stifle such a sacred right as freedom of speech, even by proxy to rally an audience you become a traitor to what this country really means. He has taken actions to achieve that goal and I want him charged with a crime. As a person from that side of the isle i’m sure you want a fair debate of issues. You don’t want some violent pistol waving person. As for his religion? that is no sign of where he stands politically unless you believe that all Democrats are atheists. But i can assure you there are no conservatives that want to kill Sarah Palin. I’m sure you denounce this persons actions. After all, even democrats believe that all people have the right to argue in the political arena.
