Palin Makes Cover of Mother Jones…As 50 ft. Woman

The latest issue of the liberal magazine Mother Jones has a surprising cover woman: staunch conservative Sarah Palin. But before you go wondering if “MoJo” has flipped sides, hold all judgment until you see the cover:
The pictures is supposed to be a variation on that old-time “classic” film Attack of the 50-Foot Woman. In case you forgot about what that 1958 gem is about, IMDB jogs your memory:
When an abused wife grows to giant size because of an alien encounter and an aborted murder attempt, she goes after cheating husband with revenge on her mind.
Here’s the original poster:
The original trailer:
The 1993 remake (which includes a Baldwin brother):
And Mother Jones’s explanation of the cover:
It‘s not that there aren’t enough clues on the cover of the new issue of Mother Jones—the headline, for one—but since you asked: Yes, that is a full-throated homage to the B movie classic Attack of the 50-Foot Woman. If you’re like us, your knowledge of American cinema doesn’t extend to the full plot of this 1958 gem, but suffice to say that it involves a wealthy heiress, Nancy Archer, who after an encounter with an alien is found on the roof of her pool house and soon grows into a giantess. She goes searching for her no-good husband and his mistress, Honey Parker (!), and mayhem ensues. We liked the image because of the subtle historical echoes and… oh, who are we kidding: We liked it because the poster is awesome. (The echoes, though, are there: 1958 was an election year, in a recession, that dealt President Eisenhower’s party a big string of defeats and launched the Senate careers of, among others, Gene McCarthy, Robert Byrd, and Edmund Muskie.)
It’s all so clear now: Sarah Palin is an angry, larger-than-life woman. Got it.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 1:21pmSarah Palin has a long record of achievement and experience in public office.Prior her election as Governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the mayor of Wasilla. During her tenure, she reduced property tax levels while increasing services and made Wasilla a business-friendly environment, drawing in new industry.
If you want to talk about her tenure in AK, you may want to consider her balanced budgets. She left the state with an $8 billion rainy day fund and a $1 billion education fund and a budget smaller than her predecessor’s. She broke up the Corrupt B*stards Club of Republican politicians and oil company execs than ran Alaska and reset the system used for reimbursing Alaska for the use of its resources. Then there’s the gas pipeline that was talked about for decades and she got passed. How did she do it? She worked with democrats against some Republican opposition, which dispels the myth that she’s some kind of right wing nut case.
During Governor Palin’s first year in office, three of her administrations major proposed pieces of legislation passed—an overhaul of the state’s ethics laws, a competitive process to construct a natural gas pipeline and a restructuring of Alaska’s oil valuation formula.
Governor Palin’s “business experience” comes with the negotiations and dealings she has had with one of the most powerful industries in the world: the energy industry. This includes the negotiations on what will be the largest private infrastructure project in North American history. Governor Palin has successfully negotiated new tax structures, lease deals and other issues that arise in the Alaska energy industry.
At the end of the day, Governor Palin negotiated billion dollar deals with one of the toughest industries in the world.
Sarah Palin is past chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multistate government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. She also served as chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which was charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management.
Sarah Palin’s successful efforts to stop the cronyism and reform the energy business in Alaska were so impressive Kay Cashman, the publisher and executive editor of Petroleum News, wrote the book entitled: “Sarah Takes On Big Oil” .
This is a must read for anyone who wants to understand the leadership Sarah Palin has exhibited in the area of reforming government and industry!!
While Governor Palin has a history of being a reformer and taking on powerful interests for the benefit of ordinary people, Obama’s history is that of a tool of special interests, be they unions, trial lawyers, ACORN, or Wall Street.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 2:14pmNO one, and I mean no one, has been able to tell me what Obama accomplished as a lawyer or community organizer. Before he was a senator, I don’t of anyone who knew of him. Heck, at least with Jesse Jackson, you can point to what he built or got pushed through.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 1:21pmWhy is it all the liberals can ever do is attack and ridicule the Republicans. They are such little children. How can we ever let them back in power anymore. They have no self-esteem, they have no courage, they have self-respect for themselves.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 1:15pmThis is just the beginning of Progressive propaganda to build up Palin so she will run in 2012. Watch all the lefty organizations that point out her attributes and if she wins the nominee would turn on a dime and print all negative.

What happened to Mother Jones? It was a relaxing venue I’ve enjoyed over many years. Can’t go anywhere without everyone thinking they are experienced political analysts.
Shut up and sing!

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 12:51pmOk, so on one side it says “..citizenry votes against it’s own self interest“ but on the other ”they are taking away YOUR money” But I thought it was against my own self interest? It sounds as if I am getting someone else’s money? I thought that was a good thing–at least in a socialist/communist worldview. Mother Jones seems to be confused about her own ideology. As the kids would say, Mother Jones FAIL.

Posted on November 9, 2010 at 12:25amHeck, 18 months is nothing. W hasn‘t run for office in over half a decade and they’re STILL campaigning against him… not mention Ronaldus Magnus! I wouldn’t be suprised to see the DNC run an anti-Calvin Coolidge political ad in 2012.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 12:42pmMiddle class hurting itself? I don‘t know of a single liberal policy that isn’t aimed directly at hurting the middle class, while transferring wealth to the rich and enlarging the number of poor.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 12:39pmI find it odd that liberals take issue with voters who “vote against their own self-interest.” Isn’t that the definition of sacrifice and selfless behavior? what’s wrong with that?
Would they prefer we vote only for our own self-centered and greedy needs?
And why do they not find fault with rich liberals who vote against their own self interest by electing individuals who will raise their taxes?
Intelectual consitency is very hard to come by now-a-days.
sWampy
Posted on November 8, 2010 at 12:48pmThe left never raise taxes on the truly rich, they raise taxes of the middle class, there are always loop holes that allow the truly rich to hide their income in trusts, foundations, bogus corporations, etc.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 1:26pmLook at the tax base as a huge bell curve. You have the wealthy on the one end and the
poor on the other…..if you want to spend gobs of someone else’s money, you need a steady stream of dependable income……you can tax the front half (wealthy) until they meld into the middle of the curve (or leave it all together)……at the middle of the curve the idea is that you can tax at smaller rates and you will have a consistently LARGE segment of the population who will share that burden without shinking or expanding rapidly. With spending what it is…..the ONLY way to pay the piper is to start with the LARGE masses in the middle.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 12:56pmYou’re silly, you know the left doesn’t give a crap about facts, if they did they wouldn’t be able to bring themselves to spout thier crap. They have no arguement if they have to have facts to base thir vitriol on.

Mother Jones is another media tool of geOGRE Soros & associates, and as such it will use the approved tactics of picking a target and isolating it for smear, slander, and outright lies. After all, when you don’t have fact or truth on your side, what do you have left to fight with?
