Palin Slams GOP Presidential Field: ‘They Don’t Have a Record to Stand On’

Sarah Palin Slams GOP Presidential Candidates on Fox News

The ever-elusive Sarah Palin is at it again. Following last night’s CNN/Tea Party Express GOP debate, the former Alaska governor launched attacks on a good portion of the Republican presidential field — a move that could further fuel speculation that she is looking to take a last-minute jump into presidential campaign waters.

Palin’s complaints about the candidates are plentiful. To begin, she feels they haven’t properly touched upon debt or deficit spending. Because of what she sees as a lack of focus in this area, she says, “they don’t have a record to stand on.”

Then there’s Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s HPV drama, which Palin also commented on. The Hill has more:

“I knew there was something to it,” Palin said of learning while she was Alaska’s governor that her Texas counterpart had given the go-ahead to the vaccine. “Now we’re finding that now, yea, something was up with that issue. It was an illustration or bit of evidence of some crony capitalism.”

Here Palin is referring to Rep. Michele Bachmann’s charge that Perry allowed a law mandating that young girls get the HPV shot because of a $5,000 campaign donation and a relationship he had with a former chief of staff.

Despite uttering these negative views, she did commend Bachmann for her willingness to call out fellow Republicans. Additionally, she called former House Speaker Newt Gingrich “bold” for addressing government waste and dubbed businessman Herman Cain’s private sector background “great.”

Watch her make these comments on Fox News’ “On the Record” with Greta Van Susteren, below:

While Palin still refuses to declare whether or not she’ll seek the American presidency, she’s “getting kind a kick” out of the way in which the candidates are responding to her. According to the former vice-presidential nominee, those vying for the GOP nod tend to adopt and then cover whatever topic she’s speaking about.

“I’m still thinking about it,” she said following Monday night’s debate. “I’m not going to let the media tell me, dictate when a drop-dead date should be,” she added.

Thus, the speculation continues.

Sitting on the sidelines and taking potshots isn’t a charming strategy, Sarah.
She should have been in the debate, so she could debate.

Meanwhile, backing Bachmann is a mistake. It was a Cancer vaccine. Something like 94% of adults have strains of HPV, and they don‘t usually even bother testing for it because it’s so common. They were only giving it to people young enough to where it mattered. Using that as a moral wedge issue because it’s classified as a “sexual disease” is wrong.

Sitting on the sidelines? You’ve got to be kidding me!

Palin has been fighting in the trenches for the last three years.

Where were Romney and Rick “Amnesty for Illegal Aliens” Perry when Obamacare was being shoved down our throats?

Where were they in 2010? Well, as far as Perry is concerned he had to beg Palin to campaign for him because he was having a hard time getting re-elected in FREAKING TEXAS!

That’s why the Democrats, for the first time in decades, believe they can flip Texas in 2012. And if that happens, well guess what? It’s over!

I think Mark Steyn is right. It’s not really a fraud like Obama that is the problem in this country; it’s the imbecilic electorate that sends men like him (and Perry) to the White House or other offices.

And to all the Perry supporters out there: when are you guys going to learn? He’s a huge RINO! He makes McCain look like Reagan!

So all of you haters I’m sick and tired of getting Rhinos like Mccain. You are the ones who where all in favor of the so called centrist Mccain that gave us Obama. We will not sell out our values for another Rhino. Rush Limbaugh has been great on the issues until today were he is basically telling us its OK to attack Romney but not the rhino perry. Some of us stand for the truth and if Palin enters we will support her and if she doesn’t she has an important role to play. So if you want a rhino vote for a rhino I‘m not telling you who to vote for and don’t even dare to attempt to tell me who to vote for I cant be bought or intimidated SOME OF US MEN STILL HAVE CHEST!!!!!!!!!!! Off topic, after seeing her at 911 events, I more than once thought Laura Bush needs a makeover and “stiffie” hairdo like Marsha Blackburn, Michelle, Sarah and so many other leading conservative women have gone to this year. She would not be included in the 2012 calendar. She needs a little surgery like Sarah plus a personal trainer, and both her pants suits made her look a little like mooshelle from the rear.

Meanwhile, at 65, George W. looks like a classic ‘hottie.”

Is there some rule in your book that says a person cannot do what she is doing? Are there laws? What country you live in? See, here in America, we have this thing called free speech and it has worked great for several centuries now. maybe someday it will come to a land near you. Palin questioning whether any candidate has a record to stand on had to be a joke on her part. She was elected as governor of a state that gets 85% of its revenue from oil royalties or rather a tax on the oil companies. Sounds like a tough budget to balance. Beyond the cheap celebrity status individuals like Greta need to stop portraying her as relevant.

What a ridiculous statement!!! It’s not a “moral wedge” issue, it’s a parental rights issue. It is NOT a cancer vaccine. It’s a virus vaccine. That virus can *sometimes* cause cancer, but the only way to contract that virus and later develop the cancer associated with it is through sexual contact. Since HPV is not passed through the air or by sharing drinks, etc, there is no reason that the government should require it for school attendance. IF parents choose to vaccinate their children against a sexually transmitted disease, that’s their business. It is NOT the business of the government.

This is really an issue of inappropriate exercise and overstepping of legitimate authority. Rick Perry is a decent candidate, but like everyone else he has a few flaws. The people of Texas we incensed by this. We didn’t like the requirement or the way it way handled. I respect the fact that Perry is open enough to admit that he went about it the wrong way, but it is a legitimate issue and to characterize it as a trivial or “moral wedge” issue demonstrates either a lack of intellectual honesty or a complete lack of understanding with regard to this

Chaban—You’ve got it partially right! I’m a bit tired of Palin sitting on the sidelines taking pot shots at people. It‘s obvious she’s not getting in…it takes far too much preparation and money to survive a campaign and she knows very few think she should get in at this late late stage. She better start coming up with her own detailed solutions to problems because soon people will lose respect for someone who’s all talk and no action. Romney did more for conservative republicans in the last 3 years than anyone else. He raised money, donated money, campaigned for people, fought Obozo, wrote a book detailing how things should be run, and did more to bring about the landslide for republicans last November than anyone else! Romney spoke plenty on Obama are and the sham that it was, especially when Obozo lied about copying Massachusetts! If he had used it as his main inspiration, he would have wanted to talk to the author of that plan…it was the lie of the century to vilify and eliminate his chief rival and the one person who could remove him from the white house. The GOP is still buying Obozo’s bologne and he loves it! 30% jumped behind Perry the first day because of religion, and 50% of the rest follow Obozo’s lies about Romney. We’re coming down to the wire with the primaries, and people will get what they deserve if they vote for Perry like Obozo wants. He is lousy, crony, lifetime politician, pay to play, big mouth, and they will deserve his uneducate

the point is, all she is doing is dragging these candidates down, and these candidates stand an actual shot at beating obama, whereas she would be destroyed.

so she is splitting the party, and she is going to ensure an obama victory. she should use her power to endorse somebody and build them up. not drag down the whole party.

I’m getting tired of hearing from her and about her. Even if she does run, she can’t win. Neither can Bachman. I‘m sorry but I don’t believe the US is ready for a woman yet, especially when our country is in a huge turmoil. No one is going to take a chance on them in the middle of all this chaos. She lacks leadership qualties (in my opinion) and she has no endurance (not in my opinion, in fact). She can say anything she wants, but I’m not going to take her seriously. Look at the thread, lots of people here who are consistent tea part posters on other threads, saying “sorry, she lost me”.

Understand that actions have consequences. She’s made herself into some kind of smug “king maker” as well as displaying other bad decisions, and the people she’s increasingly associating with are neoconservatives. I’m sorry guy, but if she continues to act this way, no matter how homey she talks, she’ll be increasingly ignored by more and more people who like or liked her at one point.

Yes ghost I mostly agree, but the issue with her stepping down wasn‘t because it became hard or difficult for her it was the fact that she wasn’t going to be able to carry out her task as governor and then she was going to have to pass the cost onto the tax payer. So either way she wasn’t going to be able to continue to act as a governor, so instead of not doing her job on the tax payer dime she stepped aside and like it or not allowed her state to continue to have a voice in our Republic.

I don’t throw that term out lightly, usually it doesn’t apply, but it does to him. He’s had so many personal (and quite publicly so) issues that the Dems would make him into shredded newspaper within 1 day of him becoming the nominee.

He has a solid, good voting record, his positions are what he votes (meaning, he actually backs up his words with his actions and votes) and what he says is almost always spot on correct. If he had just kept his personal life under wraps a bit more, or at least had the decency to not be such a philanderer in such a public way, he’d be well on his way to the White House this cycle.

If social conservatives can prove me wrong and get behind him, the good. But it ain’t happening, they’re a very uptight lot, and frankly, some guy who is a serial cheater and who leaves his wife on her death bed is enough to make even non-uptight folks question pulling the lever.

I totally agree with this site needing a lot of proofreading…and not spell check. Their articles seem to always have misspelled words (their/there, your/you’re, etc) and it looks a mess! I’ve written before about it, but they don’t seem to do anything about it.

YAY, Sarah Palin commented on the debate, as a non-politician touring the country, we get it, you like her, but its the same thing as Anne Coulter talking, her opinion means next to nothing.

She can’t run cuz Roger Ailes made rules early on; I’m thinking of Gingrich and Huckabee.

Quitting the governorship of Alasksa also still weighs on me. Don’t care what the reason was, she quit. You can’t quit. Unless you are faced with death. Sorry, it ain’t cool with me.

Agreed. She quit because it got too touch, too many people starting lawsuits against here, the media always hounding her, etc. etc. She should definitely Not want to become president then, or would she quit after four months as president with all the hounding she’d get? Bush stuck it out and asked for another four years. Like him or not, he stood his ground and didn’t flinch, and he definitely didn’t quit the job.

IL reported obama just hired MORE ‘social media writers’ (obamaite trolls) to flood conservative websites with their hatefilled insults about any and all Americans who oppose obama. we sure all know who the obamaites are.

it will be horrific the more we approach Nov 2012, but no doubts with what he has done to destroy America, obama will never walk out of Thunderdome 2012 as president. it is that simple.

a 100% AMERICAN will come out STANDING STRONG & PRO-AMERICAN as OUR 100% AMERICAN PRESIDENT. (something special the marxist obama can never claim to be)

seriously? Her leaving the governors seat is that big a deal to you, no matter the reason? Saved her family being dragged through the mud beyond comprehension and also saved the state of Alaska a ton of money, but that matters not to you? The things that should matter and this is the one thing you have an issue with? I’m not a Palin supporter by any means, but I think her resigning as the Alaska governor makes her an even better person.

Tron, sorry, but sometimes quitting is the only sensable thing to do. She was getting hit with THOUSANDS of FOIA (freedom of information act) inquiries, which were crippling the government. Resigning (IN HONOR) was the correct decision IMHO.

Congressman Ron Paul, MD, Lt Col, USAF, Ret., though much maligned, recognizes as do Tea Party patriots, the urgent need to return to the Constitution as our first, best and last hope to save our nation.

America should listen to Congressman Paul very carefully because he’s correct.

Rather than mortgage our freedom, we must limit our bloated federal government to Constitutionally enumerated functions, while properly relying on the states for additional governance as their citizens deem necessary.

Except for Dr. Paul, politicians avoid the real cause of our economic problems, which is the Federal Reserve. It’s caused a century of turmoil including the great depression and a 95% devaluation of our once ‘good as gold’ dollar, now replaced by fiat Federal Reserve notes.[1]

As Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy, Dr. Paul is more knowledgeable about monetary policy than any other member of Congress. He is absolutely correct about how to solve the economic problems threatening our jobs, our children’s future and the very survival of America as a free nation!

We don’t want to waste years with a detailed audit of the Federal Reserve that accomplishes nothing economically. We want to abolish the Federal Reserve and return to Constitutional sanity!

Infinitely more years of executive experience than the current Commander-in-Chief.
