Palin Snubs, Flummoxes Media on Bus Tour

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sarah Palin said Monday she is “still kind of contemplating” a presidential campaign as she and her family set off from the nation’s capital on a bus tour of historical sites that left observers puzzled about what the former Alaska governor planned next – both for her schedule and her career.
Palin and her aides refused to share basic details about the “One Nation” tour that was scheduled to take her from Washington to New England in the days ahead. The East Coast swing renewed questions about Palin’s next moves, including whether she would enter the still-forming Republican presidential field.
“We’re still kind of contemplating that,” she said in brief comments to reporters who stumbled onto her Monday at the National Archives.
Palin’s tour started Sunday with the 2008 vice presidential nominee and her family riding motorcycles from the Pentagon to the National Mall with thousands of others. According to her website, she spent Monday‘s Memorial Day holiday looking at the nation’s founding documents at the Archives, stopping by Fort McHenry in Baltimore and George Washington’s home at Mount Vernon, Va.
“I’ve said before that George Washington is my favorite founding father because he was reluctant to serve, and yet he rose to the great challenges before him,” Palin wrote on her political committee’s website. “I can certainly see why he dreaded leaving his home on the Potomac. His servant’s heart is an inspiration to us all.”
Palin remains one of the biggest question marks for Republicans, who have not yet settled on a front-runner to challenge President Barack Obama’s re-election bid. While many of Palin’s likely rivals have worked to build campaign organizations in early nominating states such as Iowa and New Hampshire, Palin has taken no concrete steps to begin a presidential campaign.
Given Palin’s star power, she might be able to wait longer than others. But the clock is ticking, the establishment isn’t happy with its options and one of the earliest tests of campaign infrastructure, the straw poll in Ames, Iowa, is scheduled for August. A debate in New Hampshire, another early nominating state, is scheduled in two weeks.
Reporters who found her at some stops didn‘t get clarity on Palin’s next moves or whether her bus tour was a preview of a presidential campaign.
“I think Americans are ready for true change,” she said at the National Archives.
Asked directly whether she was running, she told reporters who found her in Gettysburg, Pa.: “I don’t know, I honestly don’t know.”
“It’s still a matter of looking at the field,” she told reporters who bet she would visit the Civil War sites on Tuesday. She added: “The field is not set yet – not by a long shot.”
In an interview with her employer, Fox News Channel, Palin twitted reporters who scoured the East Coast looking for her, trying to make sense of her political strategy or even basic itinerary.
“I want them to have to have to do a little bit of work on a tour like this. That would include, not necessarily telling them beforehand where every stop is going to be, you know?”
In excerpts from the Fox News interview, the former television journalist criticized what she calls the “mainstream media.”
“They want kind of the conventional idea of, ‘We want a schedule, we want to follow you, we want you to take us along with you,’” Palin said.
“I don’t think I owe anything to the mainstream media. I think that it would be a mistake for me to become some kind of conventional politician and doing things the way it’s always been done with the media, in terms of relationships with them.”
Instead, Palin said she’ll offer her own coverage: “I’ll write about that at the end of the day.”

Palin and Cain though I am afraid together do not have a firm grasp of the issues and would likely get caught flatfooted on too many mainstream subjects that would derail this team quickly. Unfortunate thus risky.

Posted on May 31, 2011 at 9:02amWhat I like about Sarah is she understands what the media is – propagandistas for the left – and that it will never change. She is far ahead of the GOP presidential wannabes – who still follow the media’s rules, rules designed to always make them look like cold hearted air heads. Sarah has figured out how to use the media’s irrational attacks to her advantage and it is working. Rick is also catching on but the likes of Romney, Pawlenty, and even Gingrich still let the media define them.

Posted on May 31, 2011 at 12:05pmThe Terrorist Media wants to control the dialogue for the election, which they did in 2008–but I agree! Palin doesn’t need to cater to them. She is no longer being “handled” by someone else. She is in charge and I believe–has more basic common sense than 4/5 of the elected officials in DC. I hope she continues to do as she wants to… and is successful at it. [I noticed that the bash-Palin books are not doing well in sales.]

We must have someone who represents the people, the taxpayers who pay the bills, Middle Class America. We have seen how the lifetime politicians have screwed up this country and how we are left to pay for their corrupt and idiotic social engineering agendas. We have seen how the two Parties take care of themselves and put the burden on the taxpayers. Time to tell the Parties we want a Statesman, not a politician. Time for the taxpayers once again to say no more taxation without representation.

first of all it seems this idea came from glenn, as he constantly pushed this point about washington being reluctant to serve, haven’t i done enough for my country. also it seems most of what she says and does mocks glenn. third by stating the above comment is she trying to paint herself out to be george washington? sounds like it and she made this point befor. there was only one washington, one sarah palin, one me, one you. and if are really a hero, seems arrogant to paint a picture of yourself as someone else. but that is just me.

Some women can be very logical, consistantly, and that comes from learning in the workforce for 30 years. So if you can generalize that women are more emotional then, I will say men are less open and less honest when setting and attempting to reach their goals. Right now we need honest and open Represenatives in our government. Go Sarah go Michelle. I trust either one more then your logical Mr. Boehner or your logical Mr.Mitt Romney or even Mr. Paul. I called my credit card company and asked them to raise my limit. When they asked why, I told them I couldn‘t pay off what I’d already spent and I needed to spend more. They laughed at me. Bachman carries around a copy of the Constitution of the United States but she can’t even quote it correctly when she tries. She and Boehner violate it at will. Frivolous lawsuits were piling up, crippling the governors office. (Several were traed back to the white house – specifically Rahm Emmanuel). Most governors would have finished out their term, sucked up Alaska’s tax dollars for the legal fees and finished out their term. Palin left, wrote a book and paid for the legal fees herself. (BTW, none stuck)
That doesn’t sound like quitting to me; that was doing the best thing for Alaska.
Then she went on the road, endorsing Tea Party candidates for the 2010 election. She wouldn’t have been able to do that as Governor. Palin’s endorsements won 2/3rds of the time.
So there. Palin doesn’t play by politicians rules; she does what is RIGHT.

Hysterical that y‘all make ’the media’ out to be frustrated, confused, and fearful of Sarah Palin with respect to this tour. It‘s not like she has been a regular ever in ’the media’ since she shut it down, used Faux news, Twitter, and Facebook as her media outlets.

Posted on May 31, 2011 at 11:03amShe is running what could be the most common sense campaign I have ever seen.
The MSM hates her. They know she could mop the floor with Obama and his socialist mop.
IF she gave out her schedule, they would descend on her with thousands upon thousands of PAID union shills to picket and protest.
HOWEVER, this way, she is able to move about freely, not deal with mean chicago-thug paid protesters, and still meet the people, which is what she wants to do anyway… whether solely to raise awareness of our founding principles, or, whether she also wants to increase the Palin brand for a campaign.
She has to be saving tons on security, etc., this way.
Nobody honest person can deny the media will pounce all over her like a pack of rabid dogs from the moment she declares. This allows her the most flexibility and exposure prior to that. PLUS, by letting the ‘B’-teams jump in first, she learns the tactics of the left. Kind of like chess – you sacrifice a few pawns to learn your opponent’s strategy. This allows her to prep better to defend against their relentless attacks.
The great thing about Sarah, is, she doesn’t CARE if they attack. She has learned to deal with them. She is ready for them.
Even better is, she is not in a defensive posture. Remember, she played basketball. She is mounting a STRONG OFFENSE.
RUN, SARAH RUN!!!
