Palin: Some GOP Operatives ‘Seem to Have the Fighting Instinct of Mr. Snuffleupagus’

On Fox News’ “Hannity” last night, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin chatted with host Sean Hannity about Democratic attacks on the Republican Party. In addition to dismissing the blitz coming from the left, the two delved into a discussion about GOP operatives and their purportedly weak handling of the current political situation.

Hannity began this portion of the discussion by sharing his fears over liberals‘ use of tough words and allegations and the right’s failure to combat these attacks with equal fervor.

Sarah Palin Says Some GOP Operatives Have Fighting Instinct of Mr. Snuffleupagus

“Al Sharpton says there’s a war on Blacks. Howard Dean says that there’s a war on Latinos. Then, of course, there’s a war on the poor — throwing granny over the cliff — and, you know, even Mitt Romney hates dogs because he put a kennel on top of the car,” Hannity said. “But yet Republicans don’t seem as willing to fight the same way. I’m a little concerned about it…why repudiate people who will fight fire with fire?”

Palin agreed with Hannity’s assessment and went on to claim that a one-sided cease-fire wouldn’t be a successful plan moving forward. Additionally, she had some tough words for GOP consultants who seem to be bucking their responsibility to wage a vibrant campaign.

Sarah Palin Says Some GOP Operatives Have Fighting Instinct of Mr. Snuffleupagus

“This phony, hypocritical, one-sided call for a cease-fire by the left and their lapdogs in the media. These leftists politicians saying ‘that’s going to be off the table, that’s going to be off the table,’” she said. “And then for the Republican operatives who are high-paid consultants to candidates agreeing to take things off the table — that’s no battle plan for victory on our side — on the common-sense constitutionalist side. It’s ridiculous.”

These Republican operatives, Palin maintained, “seem to have the fighting instinct of Mr. Snuffleupagus,” a Sesame Street character whom she said was always hiding, backing down and running the other direction. This, Palin maintained, isn’t what America needs.

Watch Hannity and Palin chat about these issues, below (around 2:30):

I was watching Palin last night on Hannity. She’s really starting to tick me off. Romney has been running his campaign just FINE, unlike Obama who has been falling on his face right and left. Romney responds to criticisms within 24 hours on average which is a helluva lot faster than she and McCain did! (which was NEVER) Nothing like taking advice from LOSERS!!!

Actually his campaign isn’t running fine.

Half his base is voting for him because they have no choice, not because they want him for president, or because they “believe in him.”

At some point either Romney will pander to the media, become PC, and appeal to these non existent moderate-independents we hear so much about, or he will go hard right and tell it like it is.

He doesn’t possss the Clintonian skill to do both and be believable, so he must choose.

Obama Light or Hard Right. Until he does one or the other, Romney is effectively irrelevant.

Why shouoold Romney be responding to accusations within any time frame? That’s just being defensive, exactly as Sarah is saying. As Ranger says: until Romney grows a pair and goes on the attack and proves to me he has something worth my vote, he’s irrelevant in my world. So far, all Romney has shown me is he’s Obama-light.

      I don’t know, TIGRESS1.

I understand that the Romney campaign wants to focus on the important issues and not sink to underhanded methods, but by the same token, I don‘t think Romney is going to come off well if he doesn’t fight with a little more vigor. Consider the Rev Wright issue. It’s been declared off the table because it was out there last election cycle. But it was pretty much ignored by the MSM last election cycle – they willingly carried the water for the President. We’ve now had a term of Obama to see how he plays the race card and how he embodies radical social views (i.e. the teachings of Wright and Ayers, and others). Not only should these points be on the table; they now exist in a context of how the President’s policies have been shaped by these issues.

Sarah was muzzled by the wimp McCain, who almost certainly threw the election. Cab’t use the middle name “Hussein,” can‘t refer to Obama’s vetting or sealed records, and had the gall to tell a nationally televised audience, “You have nothing to fear if Mr. Obama is elected president.”

There is no “loser” in Sarah Palin. Romney needs to follow the illegal alien’s advice: “If they bring a knife, we bring a gun; if they hurt one of ours, we send one of theirs to the morgue.”

      Nice guys finish last.

Romney’s campaign is doing great. Ever hear of conserving your strength for the real battles? I still think Romney is a closet Conservative. You can’t listen to him without realizing that he “gets it”. He knows that this is not your ordinary election, and that our country is at stake. Right now Romney is focused on staying on topic which is the economy. This is Obama’s Achilles Heel, and this is what ultimately will bring Obama down. The Super PACs can bring up all the tangentials. This is the nice thing about them! Have no fear, Romney will kick Obama’s butt in the debates. This way nothing he says can be taken out of context and used against him.

The only problem with your reasoning Tigress, is that it’s wrong.

      Allow me to elaborate.

      2 fighters enter the ring.

Fighter 1 is a good natured all American kid. He’s healthy, doesn’t lie, cheat, smoke, or even cuss. His technique is all over the place, and he doesn’t really have a strategy, he’ll just go out there and give it his darndest, like he’s always done.

Fighter 2 will do anything to win. He’ll bribe the judges, wear brass knuckles under his gloves, and anything else that he can think of. Winning this is the most important thing in his life. It’s his religion. He will give it 1000% till the end. Oh..and he’s also the reigning champion, he’s got a mean left hook, and has about 100 pounds on Fighter 1.

If Romney wins it’ll be because things have gotten so bad that no amount of White House diversion, and media spin can hide it anymore. And even then it’s gonna be a tough fight.

If Romney doesn‘t step up he’ll just be another McCain. If he swings to the center after the nomination like McCain did in order to pander to the media, or pick up these elusive independents, then he’ll lose most of his base. The tea party is pretty pissed right now, and they’ve taken about as much as they can take.
Having Washington elitists tell us not too worry about Romney going left to win the election ain’t gonna cut it this time.

If he ignores it, and goes by the “How to win an Election 101 playbook. He will lose bigtime.

Sarah Palin is a frelling idiot. She’s a parrot of the extreme Right blogs that have actually fallen hook, line, and sinker to the lies the Left has put out about Romney.

Someone above mentioned that half the Republican base is only voting Romney because he’s not Obama. That’s the problem. If Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin would actually do their job and tell the truth (because we’re not getting truth from CNN, MSNBC, or the rest of the MSM), people would actually LOVE Romney and realize he WILL be the next greatest President the USA has ever known.

Just because Romney doesn’t light his hair on fire when Obama says something stupid, doesn‘t mean he isn’t hitting Obama hard. EVERY SINGLE ATTACK that Obama has released has been buffetted and reflected back on him. Dog on roof? Obama ate dog. Bully in high school? Unfounded claim versus Obama’s admittance he was a bully. Romney fires people? Obama fired 10,000s by closing auto dealerships and suppliers during auto bailout.

Romney is doing just fine. (Remember, those polls are heavily slanted Democrat. Romney IS winning this battle.)

@Ranger1965, that’s interesting, but you are underestimating the anger that the public has for Obama. You said that if Romney veers toward the center he will lose his base. I don’t think he will because Conservatives will NEVER vote for Obama. By veering toward the center he may gain some of the people who voted for Obama the last time, but are disgusted by him because he was not as Progressive (Socialist) as they wanted, or they were blindsided by all the hype about having the first black President and have buyers remorse now. I think the “Anybody But Obama” sentiment is extremely strong. People understand that our country cannot survive another term with Obama. If Obama wins again the damage he could do when he doesn’t have to worry about re-election would be staggering.

I think Glenn’s highest praise for Romney was; “Well at least he isn’t a communist.”

So I guess from Beck‘s perspective it’s a matter of picking the least damaging of the two.

As for me, despite his faults, and they were many, I thought Gingrich was a good choice. He was an idea man and God knows we need someone with ideas to counter this mess. If Romney does win I hope he makes Gingrich Sec of State.

There is a fine line between “responding” to the lies of the left and “getting down in the mud” with these jerks. The best would be to have a Super PAC focus on the “Facts ma’am, just the facts”. Have a Jack Webb like voiceover and vignettes that would point out the truth.
However if we simply climb into the slime, we will lose the fight as the left has the press who typically the source of the lies. As a kid, I grew up on a Farm. I spent many hours interfacing with “Agricultural Waste Products” and the sources of this product. At the end of the process, not matter how clean the stall was, and how much it didn’t stink, the animals never figured out to go out to the manure pile to do their business. They typically would not even let me finish spreading out new straw. Liberals are worse than the worse smelling pig.
