French Christians Protest ‘Blasphemous’ Play Where Fake Excrement Is Hurled at Image of Christ

French Christians Protest Blasphemous Play |

(AP) The mayor of Paris says the city is filing legal complaints against fundamentalist Christians protesting a play at the municipal theater they claim is blasphemous.

Riot police have been called in to chase off demonstrators bearing crosses loudly protesting in front of, and sometimes inside, the Theatre de la Ville since the Oct. 20 opening of “Sur le Concept du Visage du fils de Dieu” (”On the Concept of the Son of God’s Face”).

“Sur le Concept du Visage du fils de Dieu” (”On the Concept of the Son of God’s Face”), by Italian Romeo Castellucci is a provocative story centering on a young man caring for his aged and incontinent father. A portrait of the face of Christ looms large onstage throughout and projectiles are ultimately thrown at it.

This video shows the protests — and the actors hurling items at the image of Christ:

Each night, police have had to defend the theater from a group of Christian protesters – organized by the group Renouveau France – who turn up with crucifixes and banners denouncing “Christianophobia,” determined to disrupt the show.

Mayor Bertrand Delanoe said Friday that Paris can’t tolerate “such expressions of fundamentalism and intolerance.”

His statement said the city is filing complaints when demonstrators try to interrupt performances of the play.

Delanoe is Paris’s first Socialist Party mayor, and openly gay.

Luke 6:42 It looks like the Athiests could apply that equally as well. I heard about an Athiest that all his life attacked those that believed in God, continually searching for evidence to prove that God did not exist. In the end he said he only proved to himself that there had to be a God so he became a Christian. The fear of God is the beginning of knowledge.

Bear, you have the historical American attitude of a non-believer. However, the radical Atheists of today are just as bad as any other radical group. We Christians have been historically, in America, very tolerant of other beliefs and that was the basis of how how country was born. It now behooves Christians to stand up against the attacks that are coming from every angle, Muslims, atheists and liberals. The values we hold dear benefit all people, unlike those aforementioned. The lifting up of people , not dragging them into the gutter of degradation and mental serfdom of amorality is what Christians are about.

Think we are getting closer??? From the Good book……so it is written and all coming to pass…

      MATTHEW 24:

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Good point. When you are born again, or a new creation in Christ Jesus, you are in this world but not of it. The wisdom of this world is devilish and carnal. So let us not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds and conform to what is good.

This admonition is for those who have already been made spiritually alive in Christ Jesus. Receive the en grafted Word which has the power to save our souls. The Word of God is sharper than any two edged sword dividing asunder the spirit, soul, and body. Those who are born again, or born of the Holy Spirit, have access to revelation knowledge as only the Holy Spirit can reveal the Bible or His Word. Jesus said to Peter that this is what His Church would be built on, revealed knowledge of God, or revelation.

Another example of this admonition given to those who are already born again, or spirits made alive in Christ, desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow thereby. Then the born again son or daughter of God won’t be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. Then the sons and daughters of God will overcome by the virtue of growing strong and turning the world upside down. They will have a peace that only Jesus gives.

To support your claim (which is a little ham-handed, since Muslims in France are NOT anti-France–they just want France to change to suit them rather than the other way around), here’s a Google translation of chretienté.info’s comparison of Delanoë’s comments when there are Christians holding up signs to “Respect Jesus” (as you see in the image) and talking about rejecting hatred against Christians vs. Delanoë’s comments when Muslims were destroying things, threatening the authorities and calling for the death of the blasphemers who dared put Mohammed in a cartoon.

Not only do those in heaven pray with us, they also pray for us. In Revelation, John sees that “the twenty-four elders [the leaders of the people of God in heaven] fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints” (Rev. 5:8). Thus the saints in heaven offer to God the prayers of the saints on earth.

I respect the Protestants, Catholics and Mormons that hold fast to what is good, what is moral. I do not respect those groups, including some of the protestants, that have
embraced immorality. I think we are at the point, that as we approach the end of this age,
the Body of Christ will consist of all of those who are glorified by presenting themselves to God to be cleansed of anything that is not of Him. He is coming back for a glorified church. When it reaches that point, our backgrounds or past denominational affiliations will be irrelevant.

I say, if you’re willing to accept the price of what, an arrest? Persecution? That’s already happening. Death? Nothing new there. I say DO IT. Its the bottom of the 9th. It’s 4th and goal. But if the mayor is picking & choosing which groups are “acceptable” based on their message, ethnic group, religious beliefs or particular ideaology etc, the citizens have every right to hold him accountable for his actions.

In all honesty there is a battle going on between Islam and Christianity and right now Islam has the advantage. They have people in power who are either Islamic or are afraid of it and allow them to do whatever they want. If you don’t believe me just look at the examples of what muslims did in France a few years ago. Take a look at how governments are catering to Islam, yet putting Christianity down.

Two great examples: the Mosque in NY that is being built (which I believe will be one if not the largest Mosque in America, however, NY will not allow a Greek Othrodox Church to replace a cross that was destroyed during the 9/11 attacks because it is “too” big. However, it would be the same size as before and MUCH smaller than the Mosque being built.

Example 2: In Washington D.C. Catholic University is being sued because they, a Catholic school, does not offer the muslims (who choose to go there) a place to pray that doesn’t have any Catholic/Christian symbols in it.

People need to wake up because there is a war between the 2 religions. Ask yourself why you never hear about such things or examples like this going against Islam…..after all isn’t it the religion of “Peace” and if so then there shouldn’t be any reason to think that there will be any type of retribution for them simply speaking out against Islam.

It is true…there is a battle in existence between Christianity and islam. Islam deserves no respect…as with its supreme head, Satan. During the crusades, Christians were fighting these cretins with swords and hand-to-hand. Nowdays, we have nukes, guns, snipers, and longer range weapons. We have the capability to reach out and touch these ********. No matter how we do it, Satan and his human minions need to be wiped out. @ POPP40- You need to get your facts straight:
Since we brought you news of the legal complaint filed against Catholic University alleging that Muslim students’ rights are being violated as they pray in rooms featuring Christian images and symbols, the story has picked up national media attention. Last night on Fox News, host Sean Hannity’s panel debated this “holy war being waged in our nation’s capital.” But Hannity and others are missing key facts in this case and, as a result, overlooking the real story.

When I first read about the human rights complaint allegedly filed on behalf of Muslim students at Catholic, I made the mistake of assuming that Muslim students were behind it. Only after personally speaking with the complaint filer — George Washington University law professor John Banzhaf — did I understand what this story was really all about. In fact, not a single Muslim student at Catholic University has signed on to Professor Banzhaf’s complaint and he admitted to me that he lodged the complaint against Catholic with the D.C. Office of Human Rights as a concerned individual, not on behalf of any student or group of students.

In fact, Banzhaf sent a letter to the editor of the school’s newspaper soliciting complainants on September 22, yet readily admits that none have have signed on to his case against the school.

Yea because they do not tell you that when Islam takes over, they destroy ALL evidence of any other religion. They erase all images and structures so there is no history of anything other than Islam.

Obviously this Mayor is either a muslim convert or “they” found his price and bought his loyalty. He should be disgraced in the street and sent to live in Pakistan for life.

So, Muslims setting things on fire and blocking the streets is OK in France, but Christians protesting is not? Why can’t people see the double standard that is rampant everywhere?

A long time ago (appr.2000 yrs) a man named Jesus had a meeting with another of Almighty God’s creations. His name is Satan, Devil, Lucifer, plus a few other names. This is what Satan said to Jesus. Luk 4:5 So he took Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. Luk 4:6 The Devil said to Him, “I will give You their splendor and all this authority, because it has been given over to me, and I can give it to anyone I want. Luk 4:7 If You, then, will worship me, all will be Yours.” Jesus refused of course and all of Christianity should understand that the kingdoms of this world are still in the hands of Satan. Our Kingdom is yet to come. Make no mistake and never lose Faith, the Kingdom of God shall arrive on time.

Don’t forget, having TEA party rallies is racist, bigoted, hate and violent, But having anarchists and socialists set up tents in public parks, yelling in the streets, running amok, urinating and defecating in the public on private property, disturbing the peace, blocking the entrances to businesses, causing disorder, physically confronting police officers and blocking traffic is Okay and a Right.

      To COLT1860

You said the Tea Party is racist, bigoted, hate and violence. Could you please provide some evidence to back your allegations? If you‘d think for yourself rather than listen to Keith Oberman you’d see that the Tea Party is quite the opposite of your statement. In fact, the Tea Party represents the best of what America is supposed to be.

Mayor Bertrand Delanoe said Friday that Paris can’t tolerate “such expressions of fundamentalism and intolerance.”

Ain’t that a contradiction if I knew one.
