    I am hearing on the radio that this sheriff is friends with Loughner’s parents, and has had Jared in custody before, dropping all charges. Don’t know if there is any truth to it.

    He is too old and too stupid to be the head of a law enforcement agency. When I was working as a police commander before I retired, I could not take a political stand in public and was required by law in Texas to testify as only a resource witness when appearing before the legislature. This guy is nothing more than a hack politician.

    This just shows that people simply don’t understand conservatism and conservatives continue to do a bad job of explaining it. What he’s saying goes completely against the philosophy.

    Check out the book Gut Feeling. It’s about who conservatives are and why they think and believe what they do. I’ve never seen a book like it. You can find excerpts at gutfeelingbook [dot] com. One of the best parts about it is it explains why many self-described liberals are actually conservatives.

    Must have an open mind to read it.

I‘m sorry but he doesn’t have a right while in his capacity as sheriff to spew his hatred of the conservative view point and say that my beliefs are wrong. I challenge him to produce in his official job description where it says that his job while on duty is to make political speeches and accusation that are groundless and based on his own political views.

      This man is far from a professional law enforcement person, he’s lose his understanding of what his job is, I understand he runs as a democrat but it doesn’t change what his responsibilities are. He himself is flaming hatred and may be the source of some lefty moon bat feeling that it’s ok to go out and kill radio talk show host, is this as much of a veil statement then what he’s been doing and accusing others of doing. As a citizen Mr sheriff go out while your off duty then get you 5 minutes of fame and speak your mind sheriff but while your on the pay roll you role here is to provide investigative up dates, not your lame views of the current political discourse.

      @ Van… I don’t think anybody here needs to be reminded of free speech importance, or is denying this guy’s right to have his own views presented. The issue is whether a public figure (and govt. employee) should be able to use the circumstances of an official update press conference to spout his personal beliefs. What he does on a talk show or interview is his business… what he does in his capacity as Sheriff should not be a “bully pulpit” for his own biased views on the situation… I saw that interview live, and his BS was injected into his “update” … not in answer to a question as I remember.

      I think that with the amount of prejudice this sheriff has shown against republicans, even though he states it is his opinion – although not based on any facts- that ALL of his cases ought to be looked into to see if there has been any prejudicial opinions used in the way he conducted investigations in order to make arrests. I just have to wonder how effective a sheriff can be if he has this much hatred for republicans.

      Enough already Sheriff the only vitriol I see here is coming out of your mouth. His attorney is going to have a field day with all your little antics. What happened to following the evidence? To suggest on such a horrible day that Tea Party or republicans or even radio talk shows are to blame is offensive. To take this tragedy and turn it into a political fight is in very poor taste. We elect a sheriff to enforce laws not politics. I think the real question is weather or not you can do your job without prejudice, which clearly you’ve shown you cannot. I hope Tucson calls for your resignation.

      This sheriff quickly mouthed off about how this event must have been caused by political speech for one reason and one reason alone and that is that HE DROPPED THE BALL when it came to stopping this shooter during any one of several eariler personal interactions between the shooter and HIS office.

      If anything can be pointed to as the most proximate cause of the shooter having access to a weapon and being out of jail at the time he shot up the Safeway, it is the TOTAL FAILURE OF THIS SHERIFF TO DO HIS JOB! hence he has to fire up the talking heads and get them fighting each other rather then INVESTIGATING HIM AND HIS OFFICE’S FAILURES.

      His job was to catch the shooter (done) and place him in custody (done). Then, when asked anything by the news, restate the first sentence of this post and SHUT THE HELL UP!.He can state his opinions to friends, family and his fellow workers at his leasure, but public statements should be totally professional. I kind of think that he is apprehensive that it could happen again.

      In the memo, obtained by Fox News and posted on Greta Van Susteren’s blog, the DHS agent openly speculates about undue internal influence. That’s because Loughner’s arrests don’t all end with reasonable closure, if you will.

      Here’s exactly what the DHS report says:

      It’s not unreasonable to assume that that “someone” is Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik.
      On Saturday evening, Dupnik took to the airwaves to create a sensation. He accused the people of Arizona, talk radio, Sharon Angle, Sarah Palin, and the tea party of complicity in murder, effectively. The sheriff did so without evidence.
      If Dupnik was involved in springing Loughner after one of the murderer’s many arrests, then Dupnik had strong motive to manufacture a bogeyman. If Dupnik helped keep Loughner stay out of the state psych system, then his motive doubles. There’s mounting evidence that Dupnik is guilty of both.
      We already know that Dupnik refused to uphold Arizona’s SB1070. We already know that he holds the people of Arizona in the highest contempt. A law enforcement officer who despises the people he’s sworn to protect and who refuses to enforce the law he’s sworn to uphold is unfit for office.
      If I were Arizona’s Attorney General, I’d be asking putting together a case for some warrants.

      So it turns out that sheriff duprick is possibly resposnsible for the shooter skirting more than a few brushes with the law that could have got him the help he needed before all this happened. If this is true, that explains his finger pointing. Sheriff duplitious should be investigated himself

      Don’t know about the rest of you, but I just sat down and wrote a letter to Arizona Attorney General Thomas Horne (Phoenix Office 1275 West Washington Street Phoenix, AZ 85007
      602.542.5025 **800.352.8431 Fax 602.542.4085) about Sheriff Dupnik. Although it is easier and faster to email, when politicans receive an actual letter, they figure that there are at least 5 to 10 others out there that feel the same way but didn’t bother to write.

      I did state that I was not an Arizona resident, but was horrified by the shooting, and even more shocked to hear the Sheriff’s remarks. I pointed out that there was no evidence to indicate that the suspect was influenced in any way by any conservative talk show host, and that the Sheriff had stated that making his comments was part of his legal responsibility. I also said that I was insulted by his remarks, particularly as I work with our local police department and personally know two of our local sheriffs.

      I would urge everyone to write. Most of us don’t live in Arizona, but if they end up with sacks of mail from out of state, it’s going to mean something because it influences how we view their state.

      I will also be mailing a copy of the letter to Governor Brewer.

      One of the other posters mentioned that the mother of the suspect works for Pima County, and gave a link to Greta Van Sustern’s site. That may explain a few things, but this joker should not be allowed to get away with the libel and slander that he is creating.

      I hope lots of you will write to the AG and let him know how we feel.
