Pastor John Hagee’s Open Letter to Glenn Detailing Anti-Israel Disruptions

Editor’s note: The following is an open letter sent from Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, TX to Glenn Beck detailing Sunday’s anti-Israel disruptions. You can read our original story here. We are continuing to look into the story and will post updates when they are available.

Dear Glenn,

Sunday morning, May 15, 2011, at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio was a day set aside to express our appreciation for the State of Israel and the Jewish people. Hundreds of churches across America and around the world joined us as we stood in solidarity with Israel in this time of crisis.

What I didn’t know was that eleven anti-Israel protesters came to our 11:00 am Worship Service pretending to be worshipers. They sat in different sections of the church; some in the balcony and the majority on the main floor. As it turned out, none of them were Palestinians, they were all local radical activists.

As I stood to deliver the sermon, one female “Palestinian protester” stood at the edge of the balcony and began throwing anti-Israel propaganda leaflets on to the main floor of the sanctuary. She was not screaming; she was throwing leaflets by the handful on the heads of the people below.

The propaganda leaflets said, “We stand in solidarity with Palestinians and demand an end to U.S. support for Israeli occupation, apartheid and violations of the human rights of Palestinians. We stand in solidarity with the Third Intifada demanding the right of return to occupied territories.“ One side of the propaganda leaflet has the picture of a mother burying her child under the caption ”Your tithes are responsible for this!” The leaflet claimed Israel was responsible for the deaths of 1500 children since the year 2000.

Cornerstone Church has an outstanding security team consisting of highly trained and professional police officers. On this particular Sunday they were simply spectacular. They quickly located and escorted out the leaflet protester.

Five minutes later a second protester stood and started screaming as loudly as she could…”Free Palestine! Israel is apartheid. Israel has no right to the land.” She was quickly escorted out by security as the congregation cheered and applauded their action and her exodus.

Five minutes later a third protester stood and started screaming fanatical propaganda phrases against Israel that are used all over the world to attack Israel and the Jewish people. I now knew we had a major and highly organized protest on our hands whose objective was to shut the service down to prevent this nationally televised tribute to Israel. I told my congregation at this point: “The objective of these protesters is to shut down this tribute to Israel…I’m going to finish this sermon if it takes until 6:00 pm tonight.” The congregation cheered like it was the Super Bowl. These protesters did more to unite our congregation in one hour than a dozen preachers in the past few years.

Protester after protester every five minutes stood, screamed slogans and was escorted out by security. We finished our service in one accord and with total joy.

The protesters were taken to the chapel where they were photographed, identifications given and charged with criminal trespass by our officers. If they return to church property they will be sent to jail. Some were sent to jail immediately because of outstanding warrants for their arrest. One third of the staff of a local non-profit, the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center, participated in this anti-Israel church invasion.

In reviewing the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center facebook page it appears that at least five more of the eleven protesters participated in past protests publicized by Esperanza. Esperanza Peace and Justice Center receives tax funding from the City of San Antonio and the State of Texas.

Here is why we are going to continue to support the State of Israel and the Jewish people:

1) Israel is not a political issue…Israel is a Bible issue. Truth is not what you think it is; truth is not what I say it is; Truth is what the Bible says it is. The truth is, Israel is the only nation created by a Sovereign act of God in the Book of Genesis. Israel was not born on May 15, 1948…it was born 3500 years ago when Almighty God made an eternal covenant between Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants (see Genesis 13:14-15 and Genesis 17:7-8).

2) Those who believe the Bible are commanded in Psalms 122:6 to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.”

3) God has promised in Genesis 12:1-4 to bless every person and nation who blesses Israel and to curse every person and nation that curses Israel. The effectiveness of this divine mandate is seen in the lives of two Pharaohs. The Pharaoh that blessed Joseph and the Jewish people avoided starvation and knew unlimited prosperity; the Pharaoh that “knew not Joseph” and who drowned Jewish male children in the Nile River was himself turned to fish food in the Red Sea with his army. Exactly what you do to the Jewish people God will do to you.

4) In Luke 7 the blessing of healing came to the house of a Roman Centurion (a Gentile) with a sick servant. Why? Jesus Christ, a Jewish Rabbi entered the Roman Centurion’s house and prayed for his sick servant because “he built a synagogue” in the Land of Israel (see Luke 7:1-5).

5) St. Paul has commanded all Christians in Romans 15:27, “For if the Gentiles have benefited from their spiritual things (the Jewish people) it is the duty of the Gentiles to minister to them in material things.” What spiritual blessings have the Jewish people given to us? They have given to us the Word of God, the Patriarchs, the Prophets, the first family of Christianity: Mary, Joseph and Jesus, the 12 Disciples and the Apostle Paul. Take away the Jewish contribution to Christianity and there would be no Christianity.

6) We support Israel because Jesus Christ our Lord said, “I say to you, ‘Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” (Matthew 25:40). The phrase “My brethren” refers to the Jewish people. Jesus never called the Gentiles His brethren until the Cross. Before the Cross we were, as St. Paul stated, “outside the covenants of Israel, without God and without hope and of all men most miserable.”

7) We support Israel because Obadiah 1:15 and Joel 3:2 make it very clear that any nation, which includes America, that tries to divide the Land of Israel (which includes Jerusalem) will in fact experience the judgment of God. Simply stated, the day America turns its back on Israel will be the day God will turn His back on America.

8) We support Israel because Israel has the right to exist! We call on the President and Congress to demand that Hamas and the Palestinians recognize Israel’s right to exist or to cut off all foreign aid immediately. Israel has the right to defined and defensible borders. Israel has the right to defend itself from any nation or group of people that attack them.

To all Bible believers, let us UNITE to stand up and speak up for the State of Israel. God is watching!

    I do not “stand with” israel.

    I support their right to exist but find the ghettoization and mistreatment of the Palestinians wicked and immoral and so should you.

      The Palestinians don’t have to live that way, it is their choosing. They hate Israel more than they love their children. They have been offered their own state and have turned it down, they do not want to live peacefully next to Israel. Don’t expect Israel to accept destruction.

      Unfortunately, no matter what you do to help the Palestinians they will always seek to destroy Israel. The only answer to this conflict is destruction, it has gone on for too long for it to be otherwise. And until the people of Palestine are drowned in the blood of their brothers and fathers, they will not learn, they will fight and die until none of them are left. If they don’t learn to fear a war, then they will always resort to it.

      There has never been an independent country called Palestine, but the Palestinian people do exist. They are the Arabs who lived in the British Palestine Mandate, and their descendants wherever they may live, who were offered a state in 1948 but never got one, This September, they will finally claim one. This will not be the end of the world, or even the end of the State of Israel. Get used to it.

      @Lloyd Drako – The last Philistine (palestinian) that mouthed off to Israel got a rock from a slingshot between the eyes.       I won’t quote the Bible, or useless, (to you), words of platitudes, but look at all the other countries around Israel, they have been in constant upheaval and turmoil for centuries. But yet, those who seek to support Israel, have a much lesser and measurable degree of strife and problems as a society as a whole. Why wouldn’t something as apparent as that simply prove it to you. You stay with your hate and misinformation. We all have to answer for it in the end. Don‘t be confused if He ’holds’ you over for a bit.

      It was the Philistines who gave Palestine its name, but the present-day Palestinians do not share either the Philistines’ ethnic origin or their geographical position. In 1000 BCE, it was the Philistines who were the intruders from across the Mediterranean and the Israelites who were the indigenous inhabitants heroically defending their homeland. Today, Palestinians see themselves as indigenous and the Israelis as the foreign intruders whose claims to the land are at best tenuous because not continuous. Incidentally, in antiquity the core of Israel was Judaea and Samaria (today’s “West Bank”) and the alien invaders mustered in the coastal plain exactly as Zionist pioneers did in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The corrent conflict is like the ancient one turned inside out!

    I simply cannot wait for Jesus’ return – in sort of the same way as a bully at
    school would pick on you and you went home and told your big brother – and

      Wow, alot of the comments on here are more frightening than anything. The nearly outright Israel worship that goes on here day by day is disgusting. Many refuse to look at the other side of the story, yet they continually insist that the palestinians are all just a bunch of terrorists. I challenge you to honestly study the plight of the palestinian people, particularly your “brothers and sisters”, the palestinian Christians. They are being driven from homes that they have lived in for many years so a jewish family can have their land.

      Honestly, if a group of people showed up at your house here in America and demanded you leave so they could tear it down and build their own house all because God said it was theirs, WOULD YOU? Of course not.

      But what if they showed up with guns and tanks, ordered you out of the house so they could search it on grounds of suspicion, and then proceeded to destroy all the furniture and knock out the walls, and then finally brought tanks in to just level the place? WOULD YOU STAND THERE AND TAKE IT?

      And finally, what if they, after destroying your home, took your husband or your son into custody, slapped him around a bit, broke some bones, or even killed him? WOULD YOU BE PISSED OFF?

      Too many people on here are too quick to cheer Israel on in doing things that, if done to them, they would be screaming for justice and crying for an armed revolution…

      @Beaubird – whether he is or is not the man you claim him to be, he obviously has the correct BIBLICAL view of what Israel is and that we should stand for it. Just because once upon a time YOU believed a TV show saying if you sent in a ton of money that all your problems would be taken away doesn’t mean this letter he wrote to Glenn is invalid or of no use. Sounds like you’re just working through your own failures and let downs.

      John Hagee is a good man. His son Mathew’s style sorta bugs me, but.. he’s a good seed.
      Pastor Hagee is one of the best Bible, and Bible Prophecy teachers alive today.
      I’m actually trying to make plans to go see him next month in Sacramento.
      As far as the “cars and houses” go. … that’s a very “general,” and easy charge to make.
      He has written a boat-load of informational and spiritually educational and uplifting books. People buy them plain and simple.
      Do you know the story of when a deranged man came walking up the center aisle one day with a loaded gun, emptying the gun at him at point blank range?
      Yeah, the guy missed.
      That is practically impossible.
      Can you say, “An Angel was sent to deflect those bullets?” Yep.

      John Hagee is not just a man of God. He is a GREAT MAN of God.

      Beaubird, how about giving him “another chance?” ;)
      He’s actually hilarious in my opinion. He’s a good guy!

      Hagge, like so many others has misread what the Bible says. 12:3b clearly says “and in thee sall all families of the earth be blessed.” In Genesis 15:9-21 God gives an unconditional covenant of the land grant, which was fulfilled. Joshua 21:43-45; Joshua 23:14; completed with David’s victories, see 2 Samuel 8:3 then consult your Bible maps. Genesis 17 was a conditional covenant, “As for me” verse 4, “as for you” verse 9. Thus God made a new covenant. Galatians 3:16 “The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his see. The Scripture does not say “and to seeds” meaning one person, who is Christ.”Galatians 3:29 “if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Romans 9:6b “For noa all who are desended from Israel are Israel.” Finally, Hebrews 8:13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete, and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.” Read your Bibles, when you hear a man from the pulpit, be like the Breans, Acts 17:11. People that follow the likes of Hagge and other tv evangelists will be the people spoken to by the Angel in Revelation 18:4.

      I have seen many televised sermons by Pastor Hagee and have been informed and enlightened. I am certain the man makes a nice living he heads a church that serves something in the range of 14,000 members not to mention the countless people like me that are served by listening to his sermons on radio and TV, I think he is earning it. As for people sending him money, well duh! it costs money to produce a sermon for broadcast and it costs money to buy the air time. I have sent the church some small sums of money in the past just like I have sent money to Glenn for an insider extreme membership. I give them gladly because I receive something of value in return. My eyes are wide open.

    Interesting that a liberal hispanic group like Esperanza Peace and Justice Center would protest against Israel…they just dont like borders anywhere. They are against the US border and want to justify these ideas by protesting against Israel. The are pro Planned Parenthood, anti-America and all for “social justice”. It is times like these I want eugenics, but then I realize by preventing others from their idiotic ideologies, I would also be prevented from speaking my mind. The freedom of speech can defiantly be frustrating, but it is what makes this country so dang amazing!

    You also have to wonder if what we are doing, being so outspoken about supporting Israel, will just speed things up and cause greater destruction sooner rather than later. Scary times, but I STAND FOR ISAREL.

      The protest cost the Philistines…..oooops, Palestinians $365 on my end. Thanks to the protestors I am now a Christ United For Israel member. I am willing to bet that after this story broke CUFI is having one of its greatest times of fund raising in its history. I’m glad to be a part of it. Just never could be one of the enlightened ones who are able to know for sure God is a fairytale. Must be a great blessing to know for sure there is no hope for you and you are own your own.

      Israel has every right to exisit, but lets not confuse the issue with fairy tales. Israel also has a duty to treat all of its residents fairly and equally, its record in that respect is lacking.

      By throwing God into the mix you negate the possibility of peace, instead you rely on old fictions and hatereds.

      I find it most amusing, but not surprising, that some of the protestors were arrested due to outstanding warrants… Gee, how can this be?
      What also strikes me? The fact that these radicals had the narcissistic audacity to interrupt a PRIVATE service. This tells me that the protesters has ZERO respect for anyone or anything.
      How many Christians do you see interrupting a religiousservice at a Mosque? That’s right – NONE! American Christians respect the right for anyone to believe and worship as they see fit, As a matter of fact, Tens of thousands of American Christians died for those rights – the very rights that these protesters so narcissisticly abuse with abandon.
      Lastly, what really gets me is the fact that these protestors have NO IDEA what Hamas is really about nor have they ever had to suffer the oppression of a muslim culture. I firmly believe that their rants are largely based on their hatred for Christians. It would be fitting if these women protesters had to live for a month under muslim customs. Where they would be treated like animals, beaten, not allowed to drive, and ABSOLUTELY beaten for opening their mouths when they weren’t supposed to. Wouldn’t that be a pickle?

      ***GLENN BECK UPDATE! I have tried to warn people about this “wolf” for 5
      years now. Beck thinks he is Moses. He feels he has some sort of
      “messianic” calling. Sadly, his calling is from SATAN since he embraces the
      lies of the satanically inspired Mormon cult. I dealt with Beck years ago
      during the Elizabeth Smart story.

      Make no mistake, he is a committed Mormon
      cult member and slowly is using his programs on radio and TV to draw people
      in, and his personal appearances to further the expansion of the Mormon
      cult. Make no mistake, it was the Mormon cult’s influence that put him in
      the national spotlight on both radio and TV. He now clearly and without
      shame tells people that “his faith” is what drives him..

      He now always talks of God, without mentioning that the God of the satanic Mormon cult was once
      a human who graduated to now being the “god” of his own planet..earth!

      Um, I doubt propaganda is anything truly new. Think for a moment. History is written by the victor, yes? So if Egyptians actually suffered defeat to a foreign God over their own religion, do you think they would make this common recorded history? How would they control their people if everyone who could read knew that their gods were powerless when this other God finally decided to free His people? Such history would by default need to be suppressed perhaps even before the Jews left slavery. Just think if our modern politicians did something similar, how would they sell it to the people? We put Germans and Japanese into “concentration” camps. Once you understand that propaganda dictate, perhaps you can start looking for other clues that might match the story. There are those who have put together research showing that many of the plagues are actually recorded in a time frame that may be consistent with the Bible narrative.

      In God We Trust Project Stands With Israel. We held a Rally/ Sign Wave last Saturday. We had a great response from passing motorists. Our group has many plan for the future to show and support our ally Israel.       A christian by the name of Corrie Ten Boom helped to hide the Jews durning the second world war. She was caught and put in concentration camps. there is a quote she said that apply’s today. ‘”Jesus is all you need. You do not know Jesus is all you need, until Jesus is all you have. THEN you know that Jesus is all you need. When my 17 year old daughter died suddently 18 years ago this is one of the things that helped me through that most difficult time. We can lose everything, but if you have Jesus that is all you need..

      I moved to Alaska because with no work in upstate NY, Alaska was the place to go. It was for all purposes at the time, a good move. The other choice was Israel…… Why???? Because there, I knew the war I would be fighting. There, I know the enemy. Here, I know the enemy also. The difference though, is the fight. Here, our way of life and almost everything we remember from the past will be dismantled and twisted backwards. Hard and difficult times have not appeared in the U.S. yet. They will.

      I would rather die fighting what I belive in, and in this case, Israel and my Bible, than fight against my neighbor for food, gas, or whatever else this failure of a president has set up. Hope and change, thanks to all who voted this stooge in office.

      Although I stand with Israel, I know that God is sovereign and will do what He has said that He will do. I am most concerned that Israel is prophesied to build an earthly temple in which they believe that through animal sacrifice they will be forgiven rather than through the atoning work of Yeshua (Jesus).

      I don‘t know exactly what Cornerstone’s stance is on the temple and the misleading of Israel by the devil through it. I pray that in their ministry to Israel they are most concerned with spreading the message of Yeshua Hamashiach – the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, the Savior of mankind.

      Yes SING IT OUT, and so does God. Thank you Glen, for challenging us to take a courageous stand on Israel. Those that are called to join you in Israel will need the prayers of those who will attend in spirit. One is not more important than another. This is my first ever blog. It is very humbling to participate. It saddened me greatly to read many of the blogs that responded to Glens call for courage in Israel. I did not recognize the character of the blogs. I had to check to see that it was still the Blaze site. NEVER AGAIN must be living words, or they are just words. I will join Glen in Israel somehow.. Much about this trip will take courage. Strangely ,it’s not the fear of danger, but stepping out alone. Well, I guess it’s time to take a big girl pill. I will join you in Israel Glen. I understand.

      I feel sad for you, brother. You see, here’s the coolest part about being Christian and believing in GOD: I can pray for you. And I will. And you can’t do a thing about it.
      In fact, I ask any Believers that read this post to pray for “Arm of GAWD”. Pray that he has the scales fall off his eyes and the hate that he has for God and His only begotten Son turn to the love. It’s okay, A of G. The apostle Paul once hated Jesus, too.       Maybe Pastor Hagee needs to read the New Testament and understand Jesus is the only way to the tribe of Judah due to being the last sacrifice….Does Pastor Hagee not understand the book of Luke? 

      Jesus clearly tells us the Jews will be scattered throughout the Earth…God did it for rejecting Christ! God broke them off the tree! 70 ad this occurred under Roman occupation. 

      Remember, Jewish people don’t believe the messiah has come and only teaches the old testament.. Apparently, Pastor Hagee only does as well and doesn’t realize the already fulfilled prophecy of the old testament upon Jesus dying for all of us…Standing with someone who rejects the messiah makes you anti-messiah…Think people, think…

      Israel state today is political only and I’d support that..But to lie and say we must for God I can‘t support because it’s a lie and mixes politics with religion and that is always bad… 

      I don’t think these protestors should of done this but what an opportunity to teach them about Jesus..

      First, Saul was a Pharisee, the exact same thing as the Jews of today…He killed Christians for they believed in Jesus….So when God transformed him to Paul, he accepted Christ…Paul then told the Jews as he used to be, to believe in Christ or be broke off the tree of Judah, off Christ’s tree, not of God…Those who do not accept Christ are not of God, not adopted in the tribe of Judah thru Christ..It can’t be any clearer..Christ is the only way…God scattered them for rejecting Christ…

      Second, declaring your out loud prayer for Arm of God is a mockery and seems to only benefit you and your ego..Read your Bible and see that is what you shouldn’t do as you could have discourage Arm of God…How about trying to teach Jesus instead of declaring you as the prayer Warrior..Also, God only needs one prayer..Just because you get 1000 people to pray doesn’t mean God will listen more…

      Last, you are being used for political purposes using God’s name doing so for those who reject Christ…You are who you stand with, you are who your friends are..If you stand with someone Anti-Medsiah, your anti-Messiah…Think and know what God you preach of…

      How funny :) “Do you ever think before you speak?” The Bible has the most manuscript evidence of any book ever. There are more uncontradicting copies of the Bible than The Iliad or Shakespeare even. The New Testament alone was written and widely circulated within the lifetime of people who were there at the events. If it wasnt true the non believers would have said “No! it didnt happen that way!” instead we have the opposite we have many non Christian sources that state Jesus lived, performed amazing wonders, died, and his tomb was empty three days later. If you really wanted the evidence you could find this stuff. Its everywhere. So the fact that you dont accept the FACT that the Bible is true means you dont base you views on facts and therefore have no reason to speak.

      Please read the second sentence again if your still saying the Jewish people are “God’s people”…..Jews, those who practice Judaism, do not believe in Christ. Jesus is the way.

      Pastor Hagee you need to quit falsely teaching God’s word.Here is a second verse…

      “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds” (2 John 9-11)

      I am a spiritual but not fromally religious Jew. I went to a Christian college in the 1950′s and studied 4 required religion courses, including Old and New Testament and Guide to The Christian Faith. I remember reading Man From Nazareth. Jesus was a good man and so are the church members I read about in their support of Israel. Thank you.

      People have to stand for what it right. Do any of you out there think we should enter a house of worship and start protesting? Like Israel, all religions should be able to worship without a hassle. In Jerusalem, Christians, Jews & Muslims all worship in peace. In Palestine, you only practice Islam. Which place would you want to live or stand up for? There are thousands of Palestinians trying to get out so they can live in a peaceful setting instead of all the turmoil Islam puts on it’s people, especially the women who have no rights.
