Pastor Says Black Christians Should Withhold Support From Obama Over Same Sex Marriage

An influential group of black pastors is urging black Christians to shelve their support of President Barack Obama until he reverses his position favoring same-sex marriage.

The Coalition of African American Pastors last month requested a meeting with Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to discuss how Obama had “broken [their] hearts” when he endorsed same-sex marriage as a civil right. Having received no White House response, the 1,300-member organization is calling on blacks to boycott the president, the Washington Examiner reported.

“By embracing gay marriage, President Obama is leading the country down an immoral path,” coalition president Rev. William Owens said in a statement. “The Black Church has always been the conscience of America, and today we are calling on black pastors and black Christians to withhold support from President Obama until he corrects course.”

“President Obama is the fulfillment of our dream for our sons — and he has broken our hearts by using his power and position to endorse as a civil right something that is simply wrong,” the statement said. “Some things are bigger than the next election.”

During a press conference this week, Owens said his organization is growing increasingly frustrated with Obama, according to the Christian Post.

“We can’t compete with the Hollywood folks who are raising the big bucks for the president,” he said. “But it was black folks who rallied around him in 2008 and for him to ignore our request with a group of clergy who represents tens of thousands of black Christians of many denominations is an insult.”

The group is currently encouraging supporters to sign its 100,000 Signatures for Marriage petition and has called on the African Methodist Episcopal Church to denounce Obama as well.

    In view of the facts Barack Hussein Obama hypocritically reneged on his pledge to accept public funding of his 2008 campaign after private donations came pouring in by the hundreds of millions and has now lied about being outspent in both that campaign as well as his successful 2004 run to represent Illinois in the United States Senate and, in general, tends to dissemble quite a bit, the following should be taken with a few grains of salt.

    There’s no doubt much of the love, adulation, and money has dried up for Obama this time around as his idolators have come to realize his hopey-changey pitch of four years ago was huge on unwanted change but devoid of any real hope and that Mitt Romney has been raking in the cash lately. The BS we have been served up these 3 1/2 years is what he always intended to do. And he has the nerve to tell us to give him another 4 years to come across with his empty promises. Can we be that dumb? We are being punished for supporting this unholy evil person. The evidence was there all along. Thou shalt not have strange gods before me.     A viable baby survives abortion. He wants it murdered. Gay marriage? Less babies to kill. Obamacare rationing should thin the baby boomers. He knew he was going to show Americans a thing or two about who’s the boss. And he knew he was going against and destroying everything that makes this country great. He knew none of us were going to like his idea of change. That’s why he would never spell out what his idea of change was. He has us all down squealing uncle. What say we take America back.     God would never vote for a President who allows 4,000 unborn babies each day. Why are Christians so confused as to majoring in the majors. Abortion is the first issue. Marriage is the second. Ron Paul is the only moral candidate but for some reason people dispise him. Voters deserve Obama or Romney after rejecting the only moral candidate.       I don‘t know that it’s accurate to say “people despise” Ron Paul. For myself, I just think his grasp on reality is weak. He has some very good ideas, and even some great ones, but in a number of areas he’s just too “out there” for me. I don‘t know what he’d actually do as POTUS, but the fact is I’d fear an extremist like him as much as I do Obama, another extremist. Romney wasn’t my first choice for GOP nominee, but he was well ahead of Ron Paul for me, and apparently millions of others. If you and your fellow-Ron Paul supporters don’t support Romney in November, that’s your right, but you need to understand you will own your own share of the blame if Obama is re-elected for a second term. And that term will be devastating to our freedom, our economy and our way of life.

      People are always ready to call Ron Paul extreme. To do this shows their misunderstanding of the man. What is extreme about wanting to cut 1 trillion dollars, balance the budget in three years and do away with the Federal Reserve? Want to know what extreme is? The big banks in the US have $248 trillion in unregulated derivatives on the books. World wide it is $1.2 quadrillion. Ron Paul has repeatably warned the American people about this time bomb. These unregulated derivatives are with the blessing of the Federal Reserve. No wonder Goldman Sachs who holds $48 trillion of these derivatives throws money at Obama and Romney. No RP is not extreme, this is extreme. We would all do good to pay attention when this wise man speaks. If we do not we face a financial melt down and soon. If anyone would do two hours research on the Fed I would guarantee that they would changed their mind about RP.

    I don’t think race trumps religion, Think for a minute that Christians, black, white, yellow or purple follow the teachings of the bible in one way or another and to different degrees It is an enduring belief that has cemented man and communities together through hardship and pain. I greatly admire the Black churches, not for their services but because they are a living breathing and loving community that saw in Obama not just as a black man but a man promising something that they had not heard for a long time, Hope, Change, A new way to bring people communities together across racial and political divides and it resounded to their very core.

    Now they see someone who turns brother against brother dividing the social bonds of communities inculcating racial bias in every move by preying on prejudice and envy he is not a christian he is a run of the mill politician who will lie cheat steal and dishonor any christian beliefs he may have had to stay in power, This man abandons his faith as easily as easily as he changes his socks, affirming gay marriage and forcing Christians to provide abortive and anti pregnancy medicines to win young women’s votes. His faith is negotiable to achieve power. Remember what happened with the Egyptians and Moses, a demonstration of what could happen to Pharaoh Obama unless Christians rise and show that men of faith are not sheep and that the vocal minority do not speak for us..

Does emoting over trivial, noconsequential drivel assuage your white guilt? Do you also select which passages are for yourself and which apply to society as a whole? Under the ADA your shame could be so severe that you can get a SocSec crazy check in no time and get on food stamps and get a free cell phone, housing and even a car if it taxes you too severely. I personally find it repulsvie regardless of race to pick and choose morals that fit your race of choice for political points only, and then let that lead you in the ballot box. To each his own. I almost felt shame for laughing at your post, but it wasn’t worth the effort.

    God fearing pastors should not forget the real Creator is not Barrack Obama. All he has created is division among all races, genders and religions. Taking the lives of unborn babies and not keeping the laws of nature by standing behind gay marriage Obama has proven he is not an example of the Christian faith most Americans can stand behind. I truly believe God will bless those that take a stand against his evil politically motivated leadership.     Finally the black Pastors have found out the the man they elected based on his skin color really does not care about them or black people in general. Blacks were a political tool used to get Obama elected, nothing more than that.

    I can’t say that I blame black folk for wanting a black man as President. It was new and very exciting but they failed to heed the warning signs about Obama, that he was bad for them and America. Skin color got in the way.

    Now the Pastors are unhappy about how Obama feels about same sex marriage. Why weren’t they upset about his stance on abortion, his attack on religeous freedom. his stance on oil drilling, coal plants, Islam, Israel, etc, etc, etc? Apparently when Obama said America was no longer a Christian nation it did not resonate with them as it did with so many others not blinded by the color of his skin.

    They wanted and expected a meeting with Obama and thought their opinion mattered to him. They were snubbed, they are upset.

    Open the other eye now Pastors. See the real Barack Obama..

      @momrules. Interesting point. Black Liberation theology is a great mystery. They support that and socialism….and even outright marxism, but, this is where they draw the line? I’m o.k. with that, but, like you pointed out, what about all the other tenants of their religeon? Perhaps you are correct in your point they were so excited to see a black man there….except….the big dilemma is they did not vet him and now they are living with the calamity of voting for someone just because of their skin color.

Im Black and I never once saw Obama as my Savior….I used to attend the same church as he and his family…I then and still dont agree with all Rev. Wright espoused…but the majority of what he said was that Blacks should stand up and take back their lives….which is true….NO ONE and I mean NO ONE is going to be able to turn around this nation in FOUR YEARS…IDC who they are….

      Sadly, you might be mistaken. The electoral map rules. Obamma has a really good chance to get back in with far less than the overall popular vote. He owns the northeast and the unions there as well as the Californians. Obamma only needs to sell his sould to a couple other union dominated states like Ohio and Pennsylvania and it’s a done deal. Florida can flip, but, they have so many former northeasts democrat retirees who vote…Hundreds of thousands plus who have their goverment jobs and “guranteed” retirements regardless of how the stock market goes for the rest of us who are stuck with the stock market and 401K. The major population area’s are quite comfortable with the rest of the country carrying them along into a very comfortable retirement. The votes are there. And they have made sure districts are set up to support that.

    The Black Pastors are 100% Correct, and it is a message to all Christian Voters. Support of Abortion, Gay Marriage and Non Support of Israel is a huge sign to run from Obama. A vote for Obama is a spit in the face to God! All of us will be judge on Judgement Day by God for every Word (Our Support) and Deed (Our Vote).

    If you vote for Obama, you are saying to God that you support Abortion, Gay Marriage and you are not going to stand with the Apple of his Eye Israel.

    Even MLK would not support any one of these agendas, nor vote for any man that does. God Bless these brave Pastors. I wish some of the White Pastors loved God as much and would tell their Congregation the same thing. Just read it from the Bible and let the Congregants decide. Gods word is truth.

      You don’t have to believe me or agree with me. I am only commanded to tell you. The rest is up to you. Have an issue with the Gospel, fine, no problem. What you chose to do with it is up to you.

      You will have to take it up with Him. I can live with that – can you? No matter, we all will “live” with our choices for all eternity. I am comforted by miy choice and pray for yours.

      And again, you don’t want to believe, fine, no problem. You have heard the Gospel and if you chose to reject it, I will be sorry for your loss but I, as God is, am pefectly fine with abiding by your decision.

      So many special interests groups to cover. Golly, they would need like a batallion to cover just half. Black gays, non black gays, white mexican catholic gays, indonesian lady boy gays, camel riding gays, gay camels, transgender native americans, yankee lib militant gays, straight gays, gays squared, then the ows freaks have sooo many variable categories depending on the drug du jour and weather is a factor in all male puppy piles with wiccan lesbians in che shirts, on and on and on and who isn’t special these days. Big frickin tent. Need a twister mat and some more crisco-or maybe just a match and some ACA.

    All right!!! At last, REAL BLACK CHRISTIAN AMERICANS ARE STANDING UP IN FORCE AGAINST the noman, the man from hell, sent to destroy this nation.

    Thank you, each and every one of you, for having the courage to stand up against a fraud who deceived so many of his own race (he says). We weep with you in your sorrow and in the betrayal you surely have felt by a man who was supposed to be “one of you”, but was anything but.

    Thank you for your gumption, your feisty spirits, and for staying the course our LORD JESUS called us to. You are in our prayers. In JESUS’ SWEET AND MIGHTY NAME, amen.

      Kickagrandma keep up your good fight. Eventually, good Americans will come around and realize Conservative people don’t have an agenda. We just want America to get back up and dust itself off and get back in the race. America will once again become that shinning light on a Hill. There are people in other Countries going to bed tonight praying for America to be their Strength and Comfort again.
