Pat Robertson: A Peyton Manning Injury Would Be Karma for the Denver Broncos After Treating Tebow ‘Shabbily’

Pat Robertson: A Peyton Manning Injury Would Be Karma for the Denver Broncos After Treating Tebow Shabbily

CBN

Pat Robertson stirred controversy this week after he said an injury for the Denver Broncos’ newly-acquired Peyton Manning would serve the team right after they treated their former star quarterback Tim Tebow “shabbily.”

(Related: Sports Alert: Tim Tebow Traded to Jets)

“I think the Denver Broncos treated him shabbily. He won seven games, he brought them into the playoffs, for heaven sakes,“ Robertson said Thursday on ”The 700 Club” the day after Tebow’s trade to the New York Jets was confirmed. “I mean, they were a nothing team. He rallied them together with spectacular last-minute passes and, you know, when they beat Buffalo — I mean, Pittsburgh, excuse me — it was a tremendous victory.”

He continued, “And you just ask yourself, OK, so Peyton Manning was a tremendous MVP quarterback, but he’s been injured. If that injury comes back, Denver will find itself without a quarterback. And in my opinion, it would serve them right.”

Following Robertson’s comments, a spokesman for the Christian Broadcasting Network put out a statement saying Robertson was “in no way advocating an injury to Peyton Manning, who he regards as a ‘tremendous MVP quarterback.’”

“Dr. Robertson was making a point that discarding Tim Tebow and bringing in a quarterback who was out almost an entire season with a serious injury, and considering the unknown long-term effects of this injury, could be a huge mistake for the Broncos should Manning become injured again,” the spokesman said.

Pat Robertson has done some some good things, but he’s done and said some awfully bad ones too. Church is church, and business is business. God doesn’t care who quarterbacks the Broncos, and he certainly won’t lay down retribution on Peyton Manning for the Broncos/Colts/Jets business deal. The Saints already hurt Peyton, and Favre too for that matter…and it wasn’t God who smote the evil Saints, it was the NFL. The Saints got less than they deserved for their unethical operations.

Lately, some of the comments Brother Pat is saying in the public forum just doesn’t sound too Christ like. I find it highly alarming because it seems to be happening more frequently. I don’t like what happened to Tebow either, but even he seems to know that all things work together for good to them that love God. God is using this young man to show the world what a real Christian acts like under overwhelming pressure of those who want to see him fail. I am sure that he is aware that the world hates him because he does stand for Jesus and for righteousness. I am concerned that Pat Robertson is not demonstrating the godly wisdom he is so famous for.

Good grief, people, chill out. I’m not a Pat Robertson follower or even agree with him, but he was just stating a simple opinion. One that a lot of people are thinking, too.

I’ll just point out that for those of you who are so worked up over what he said (which I hope you read the article to find out what he really said), you are just as or more guilty of what you accuse him of because you are spouting off your opinion about him, right?

The only thing I would have a beef about is why this is even a news story? I guess it is just because Robertson is a nationally known figure.

only reason why that godless crippled-up OLD MAN manning went to Denver is because he was so insanely jealous and bitter of Tim Tebow’s YOUTH, talent faith and following; and the old creep thought he could steal Tebow’s shining star… manning even was classless enough to DISS Tebow at the godless media conference with elway.

No, but the Broncos going 3-13 with Peyton under center would be hilarious.

(That said, they’ll probably go 9-7 and just miss the playoffs)

    GO CHIEFS!!!

I like Tim Tebow, I think he did a great thing for Denver and for the NFL in general.
Denver had every right to choose who they wanted to. As a Christian, I don’t force my faith on others, I lead by example. Pat Robinson is NOT leading by example in this case which is a shame to hear.

I wish Tebow the best, and Pat Robinson as well as he needs to be reminded as a preacher his words have so much weight that he must put his faith into such words at all times. I forgive him though, humans are not perfect and they do make mistakes. So don’t be too judgmental, preach THE faith, preach THE faith.

Well, which way to go?? I’m inclined to go with Pat, even tho he has said some funny things over the years. I believe in my heart he was not wishing any danger to Manning, but was simply stating with the injury keeping him out for so long, was it wise to put him back into the field and sacrifice a great person and some day a good QB in Tebow? Then perhaps having Payton get hurt?

I had not watched or followed the Broncos for years until Tim got on the team and was allowed to play. I love the guy, and it really pizzed me off when Elway made the trade. Elway now is a real piece of humanity who was only lucky he got as far as he did. His first several years he wasn’t as good as Tim. His last super bowl game was a humiliating experience for Elway and Denver.
But he forgets his past life rather quickly.

On the subject of the Broncos, they were foolish to let go of Tebow. Manning won’t be playing for another 5 years. They should have kept Tebow and allowed him to learn more under Manning, something the Colts declined to do, which was equally foolish considering they’re bringing in a rookie, which is always a gamble.

    Back on subject… =P

I kind of agree with Robetson, they should have at least allowed him to prove them wrong. He showed he could find the open man and his leadership is obviously contagious. They had a good one and gave it away. To be a QB, you don’t have to have the strongest arm with laser accuracy, but you have better be able to lead the troupe. Tebow does just that.

I have a problem with this. Pat Robertson is a Christian minister. Why is he advocating the injury of one person to avenge the bad treatment of another? From what I observe, God doesn’t operate in a tit-for-tat manner. He wants us to be better than that and He is for certain much better than that. God will judge in his own time. Wise up Pat.

It wasn’t Manning who made the trade, it was the Broncos organization. But that apparently means nothing to Robertson, who is in the habit of seeing all sorts of catastrophes as punishment for sin. Remember when he blamed 9/11 on America’s toleration of gays and lesbovarians?

OK! Enough of this type talk. Pat Robertson is like the rest of us, expressing an opinion,PERIOD…
He runs a wonderful program and the best part of all the old ladies giving money is: NOW PAY ATTENTION.
The 700 Club has one of the most wonderful, giving, helping, organizations in the WORLD. By far they do an excellent job helping, like the Red Cross, in many ways and many times over.

It’s OPERATION HOPE who go world wide to help in any emergency…….usually the first on the
scene and most often, the last ones to leave. They were in Haiti but we never heard it on the MSM
because the movie stars were the only ones to get any press (and what did they really do?) I’m sure they helped raise money, but Operation Hope was on the job doing the grunt work, helping people.

And I’m sure some of those little old ladies gave money to Operation Hope. Going to some of those
raunchy movies probably cost more than giving to Operation Hope. And God Bless.

You know I never see The Rainbow Coalition or The Nation of Islam doing the things that Pat Robertson’s Operation Blessing do. I recently decided to start tithing and when I started wondering who I should give my money to I watched a news story with Diane Sawyer reporting from the recent tornado damage. I didn’t see FEMA, Army Corps of engineers, National Guard, or any other government workers behind her helping the people pick up the pieces it was workers from Operation Blessing. While I may not always agree with Pat Robertson I can only judge his ministry on it’s fruits and while it is always easy to hold other people to high standards because we also fail to meet those standards we should maybe look at their fruits.
