Pat Robertson Blasts SNL Tebow Skit: ‘There’s an Anti-Christian Bigotry‘ That’s ‘Disgusting’

Pat Robertson Blasts Saturday Night Live Over Tim Tebow Skit on ChristianityTelevangelist Pat Robertson doesn’t mince words when it comes to faith and this time is no exception. The outspoken faith-keeper blasted Saturday Night Live‘s recent skit of Denver Bronco’s quarterback Tim Tebow on Monday, calling the parody a “disgusting” attack on Christianity.

“There’s an anti-Christian bigotry that is just disgusting and I think Saturday Night Live did a parody of that, had Jesus come in,” Robertson said.

Robertson even went on to suggest that if SNL had done a similar parody mocking Muslims, there would be “bodies on the street.”

Mediaite adds:

“If this had been a Muslim country and they had done that, and had Muhammad doing that stuff, you would have found bombs being thrown off!”

“And bodies on the street!” interjected co-anchor Terry Meeuwsen. “And bodies on the street!” Robertson repeated. “And we think it’s okay.”

“Tebow is an example, and I think he is a wonderful human being,” Robertson said. “We need more religious faith in our society. We’re losing our moral compass in our nation and this man has been placed in a unique position and I applaud him. God bless him.”

I agree with Pat on this – blasphamy is not a joking matter. If SNL idiots only realized that this is an insult to the truth of who and what Yeshua [JESUS CHRIST] is! but they are liberal turds – the bible calls them BLIND but I just call them stupid.

    Colossians 3:8
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

God considers SNL disrespectful! no REAL born again Christian would believe that this skit was honoring God in anyway.

    1 Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Its not smart to make God reject you because you want to laugh at others. Tearing down someone like this is satanic and demonic.

    Matthew 12:36
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

I’m not an SNL fan, and actually never watch it outside of clips I see elsewhere. The actor who played Christ did a good job in the role and I personally thought he was funny, the other actors not quite so much.

In any case, religion is out-of-bounds for humor in this country? I know it is is Iran, but is it in this country too? And does Pat Robertson speak for all Christians in this country? Does David Koresh? Terry Jones? Jim Jones?

Who tells Christians what to believe in this country? Or is it a matter of personal belief and a personal relationship with God?

How about the six billion times an atheist wakes up the next morning after praying to no one the night before for each single instance you cite?

Anecdotes with casual connection prove nothing.

Religion is stupid and unintelligible NOT because it has ZERO PROBABILITY of being true, but precisely because of the very essential nature of the claims it makes (about things which are by definition removed from our ability to perceive and know) leaves us no mechanism of validation, leaving us completely UNABLE to determine WHAT the probability each religion has of being true.

It could ALWAYS be possible that ANY given religion is true without us ever knowing it, through some kind of metaphysical veil that we are ignorant of. But that isn’t something we can even begin to rationally speculate on the LIKELIHOOD of from within OUR physically bound perspective. By definition, we ONLY have the material to observe and draw inferences from, and we have not TRUTH, but SUPPOSITION that is gradually amended as it is DISPROVEN (invalidated) by observation, in part or whole–no truths are self-evident.

As you know, there is a big list of Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals.

I for one, would greatly appreciate it if every time you employ one of them, you notate which rule number it is that you are using at the time. You know, kinda like footnotes or something.

      Your second post:

What is your point? Is it the gun angle? The gay angle? The story did not say the killer was a Christian. At least not that I could see. I would bet he was not. But it was in CA, so that might explain a little bit.

But again, what was your point?

@ 3rd Archon – then one must wonder, as does Robertson, at the way these noble, brave Militant Atheists go out of their way to mock, sneer, and condemn Christianity, but are quiet as mice and meek as lambs in the face of Islamism. I’d love to see them mocking Muhammad, Buddha, or even one of the Hindi pantheon with as much gleeful venom as Jesus gets.

Odd how they single out His name as well… almost like they KNOW they’re a despised bunch of hateful sulks who just have to try to dump on believers to make themselves feel better about their pitiful, miserable lives.

I rarely side with Robertson when he makes these sometimes over the top statements. But I do on this issue there have been more attackis against Tebow praying than there were when Ray Lewis witnessed a murder and refuse to help identify the killer. Or when plexico shot himself in the leg. Matter fact there were less media outlets on the attack when Micheal(dog executioner.felon) Vick was allowed back into the NFL than there are on Tebow. So Iguess we can only assume that the main media outlets hate openly Christian people more than gangsters, dog killers and accomplices to murder.

I agree .. show your faith .. wear a cross .. put up a Nativity at Christmas ..etc …. fight back!
Read this .. not reported by MSM

Rutz makes the point that Christianity is overlooked as the fastest-growing faith in the world because most surveys look at the traditional Protestant denominations and the Roman Catholic Church while ignoring Christian believers who have no part of either.

He says there are 707 million “switched-on disciples“ who fit into this new category and that this ”church” is exploding in growth.

“The growing core of Christianity crosses theological lines and includes 707 million born-again people who are increasing by 8 percent a year,” he says.

So fast is this group growing that, under current trends, according to Rutz, the entire world will be composed of such believers by the year 2032.

He is a good testimony shining a light on their sin. He’s is indeed in a unique position. The playing field near riots, coaches acting like fools and perverts, just the usual daily news items these days.

That’s why many of them hate him…they can’t stand him…“without cause”.
That’s why we should pray for Tim Tebow, steadyness in his walk with Christ, and devine protection.

They were just commenting in a round about way that faith without works is dead. Tebow isn’t a great quarterback in an NFL perspective. When SNL’s Tebow said that the Bible is his playbook, He was told “that’s good” but that he should do more than that. The fact that they say Jesus only helps the Broncos in the 4th quarter was somewhat of a testament that Tebow IS being helped by God. But that he should also help himself too. Christians are the target for all anti religeous mockery in the media. Christians are the target of atheists. Christians are the target of Muslims. Christians are the TARGET of godless people.

I’m tired of my God being mocked without protest because people find it acceptable. It is not funny.

“And bodies on the street!” interjected co-anchor Terry Meeuwsen. “And bodies on the street!” Robertson repeated. “And we think it’s okay.”
So…how exactly do you go from “Muslims are wrong to react violently to criticism” to “people shouldn‘t criticize Christians because we don’t react violently to it”?

Umm…no that’s not how that works. Yes, you are right (didn’t know this had happened yet, may be a historical first) Pat Robertson–Muslims violently intimidating people for criticizing their religion is wrong. Do you know when it’s also wrong? When Christians (or anyone) does the same ******* thing. Violence is not argumentation–it destroys rational argumentation opportunity to resolve contradictions and clarify the truth.

How does it follow from the fact that it is wrong for ideologies to use violence in response to criticism, that ideologies should not be criticized? No, Pat, now you have it backwards (and had it right the first time)–ideologies shouldn’t be violent when criticized; they should address the criticism and engage with the arguments by marshaling their own. Hence, the need for a common measure of validation in a language of rationality.

Maybe–I’m not a liberal, so you’ll have to ask them.

In MY world, criticism and bigotry are two different things, although one’s criticism could simply be fallacious ad hominem bigotry (which it‘s my contention and point that that’s wrong from Muslims AND Christians, or anyone for that matter) OR it can be substantive and consist of premises linked by logical chains of causality that can be inspected and either validated or invalidated.

The former, however, stands on its own logical internal consistency, and, in order for such criticism to be defeated, or at least combated, it must be done so BY REFUTING either the causal connections between the claims, the truth of the claims, or both. But a valid argument is one in which the premises, if true, make the conclusion certain (in the case of deductive arguments) or more probable (in the case of inductive arguments). For example, All humans are mammals, and all mammals are animals, therefore all humans are animals, is a deductive argument. IF the premises (H is M, and M is A) are true, then, by definition of the terms, the conclusion (H is A) MUST be true. It logically (as a consequence of form) follows.

I don‘t have any problems with Pat’s condemnation of the mocking of God, he just acts like he don’t know that the Bible states just that. Jesus and the Apostles of the Bible didn’t pull and punches, they told truth just like it is and was!

Pat if you read up on the Bible, I believe you’ll find that things are happening just as the Bible has prophesied by the only Prophets that God gave the Word! That is Jesus and the Apostles who gave His written Word to in both the Old and New Testament. Any other book of Prophesy is written by false teachers, dreamers and wannabes!

Have you heard many of his statements?

There is bigotry, hatred and insanity run a muck.

He would also classify as what you would call a “false prophet” as he continually tries to “guess”(I put it in quotes because that is what he really is doing) future events. He also claims to speak on behalf of God that certain events and diseases happen because God was upset with those people for certain “reasons” he claims.

I have all people who don’t rationalize their argument in common sense, logic and reason. Muslim, Jew, Christian, Buddhists. Anybody who says “I don’t agree because I believe“ or ”God says” is open to outright bigotry because they don’t have rational thinking for their positions.

There’s no delusion. The persecution is real. Mockery is a form of persecution. It’s certainly harassment and bullying in nature. It’s an attempt to isolate an entire segment of the population. The basis for it is a lack of respect, at the very least.

Not much. He might grumble a little about the Islamification going on in key sports and entertainment figures. I doubt Mr. Robertson would lead a Christian Crusade to destroy an Islamic Sports Figure.

But you know he is right. If SNL parodied the Muslim Faith, by having Mohammed show up too council a Muslim Football player, it would be like the “shot heard around the world”, and SNL cast members would be forced into hiding in under 72 hours. I would be surprised if the NBC studio that hosts SNL survived a month. If you draw an image of Mohammad, even in good taste it is considered a serious crime, but doing a parody, or making a joke of him? Instant and permanent Fatwa on your life, and the lives of your family…and 72 virgins to the Islamic Hero who manages to snuff the offender out.

Thats the difference EddardStark. There is simply no comparison.

funny. Comedy will take issues of the day and
