Pat Robertson: Crack in Washington Monument ‘Sign from the Lord?’

Pat Robertson: Crack in Washington Monument Sign of the Lord?700 Club televangelist Pat Robertson, who is no stranger to making controversial statements — like the time earlier this year when he said the U.S. would go bankrupt but would not suffer in a global nuclear holocaust — asked his viewers Thursday if the crack in the Washington Monument, caused by the D.C. area’s recent earthquake, was a “sign from the Lord.”

Robertson, however, delivered the question with some trepidation. He qualified it by stating, “I don‘t want to get weird on this so please take it for what it’s worth:”

…the Washington Monument is a symbol of America’s power, it has been the symbol of our great nation, we look at that monument and say this is one nation under God. Now there’s a crack in it, there‘s a crack in it and it’s closed up. Is that a sign from the Lord? Is that something that has significance or is it just result of an earthquake? You judge, but I just want to bring that to your attention. It seems to me symbolic. When Jesus was crucified and when he died the curtain in the Temple was rent from top to bottom and there was a tear and it was extremely symbolic, is this symbolic? You judge.

See for yourself:

In the spirit of Robertson’s command (”take it for what it’s worth”), how are you taking what he had to say?

People like Pat are used by the Left to make religious people look ridiculous. Pat might have a good heart but the best thing he could do now for our Nation is to go silently into the night and get off MSNBC.
Oh, silly me…being on MSNBC is going silently into the night!!

On the East face of the aluminum cap on top of the Washington monument are the words Laus Deo
This means “Praise Be To God”
As work is done to the monument it must be assured that this message on top is not disturbed, it must be there for future generations.

    George Washington’s prayer for America:

Almighty GOD; we make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection, that thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States of America at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of The Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech thee, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen
    - George Washington -
    April 30th, 1789

When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848
deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by
the Bible Society. Praise be to God! Such was the discipline, the moral
direction, the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of
our unique democracy … “one nation, under God.”

Novel concept – If you want to hear God speak, pick yourself up a KVJ Bible, and read it. When youg get done read it again. Before, during, and after reading, pray for wisdom and understanding.

Jesus face in someones pancake, a crack in the monument, a storm,…. This is foolishness.

      Mark 13:21-23

21And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

22For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

23But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

Strange isn‘t it that The People for the American Way don’t worry much about Islam where hands and feet are cut off, people being stoned to death, honor killings, and murdering of Muslims who convert to another religion, plus a dozen other fantacisms that are far beyond the pale, but when a mainstrem Christian preacher raises the question as to whether the deity gave a sign he is demonized beyond belief, as if there is nothing of greater evil on the earth today.

These are the same people who denigrate others mercifully for racism if they happen to complain about black on white crime.

Their beliefs are on a cult-like level. Political correctness is their religion and diversity is their god.

May they rot in Hell when the balloon finally goes up and they’re eliminated by any means necessary by people who are making a list and checking it twice.

The point is, if you want to hear the word of God, then read it in the Bible.

All the time, we hear these foolish stories of people seeing God. The image of Jesus appears in the bark of a tree, or some other bizare place. The pic always represents some european artists pic, a thousand or so years after Jesus walked the earth. The Veil getting torn from side to side is Biblical. Cracks in a monument, images, and so on are foolishness. Once again, if you want to hear God, read his word.

      EP46, well done.

Pastor Robertson, I’m sure he means well, but he upsets me with these kind of statements. He always seems to see things as punishment. When God decides to punish this sinful world a crack in the Washington Monument is a piece of cake compared to what Revelation tells us what is going to happen. I have taken him to task before. Doing this does not encourage anyone to seek to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. He would do well to just pray when things like this happen.

Our mission is to show a hurting world that God loves us. The Gospel is the good news that is sorely needed in the world.

Sad that you have to rely on the printed word to be able to hear and see the Word of God. When I see war, I see an absence of God, and the corrupt will of man. When I see a bird caring for her young I see the absence of man, and an act of God. When I look to the Heavens there’s the scroll of the eternal power, might, and Majesty of the Almighty. When I see a broken home I see the absence of God and again the folly of man.

The Bible is His book, but it is still just in part, not the whole. How sad that a people who claim to be Gods can’t look at the world through the point of view that encompasses Gods wonders everyday. Take the Bible from me, you cannot take the Spirit of the Living God that dwells on the throne of my life, and from which I can see HIS handiwork in all things.

I would love to take that all at face value, but upon further research you’ll find the first potus dawning a masonic apron. I‘m sure he’s talking about the G.A.O.T.U. and not Yahweh. When a Bible is placed under something like they did with the WA monument, they are binding it’s influence. (google Tom Horn’s Apollyon Rising 2012, WA monument) You’ll also note the sumerian wings with a circle and snake in the middle inside the monument-definately not a christian symbol.

Mr Washington would never take communion when he made his obligatory appearance at church. The obelisk is a represenation of a male organ and is used in pagan worship. (see Bible: asherah poles, there is nothing new under the sun.)

Not everything we see is of God, but on the other hand, “God does work in mysterious ways” and this is what I’d like to believe. Too many things in life happen that could have only come from God and those with ears to hear, know it. Reading the Bible does help us learn & understand, but I also do believe in miracles, isn’t that what the Bible says? Be aware that you might be entertaining Angels?
God’s spirit is within us, miracles happen! And I don’t consider it happenstance.

Yes, you can see God in nature, and you can see his work in peopl, and by the fruit of their works.

Once again, I am very leary about every time a storm, earthquake, mud slide… comes along, and for me in my limited wisdom to declare the wrath of God. God can work in many ways, I do not think it my place to be the one who sits back, and determines who got punished, and who got blessed.

I will argue that one. The KJV uses the text (Textus Receptus) from Erasmus. Erasmus used the carne greek texts, wich were copies of the original greek (no one has the originals). Most of your other translations use Westcott and Horts texts. They used the classical greek from Alexandrea Egypt. This was not the closest to the original.

You actually have it backwards. The texts used for the KJV are not as old, but closer to the original. Older is not alwasy better, especially if you get a hold of inacurate texts.

Man what a bunch of posts under one OP.

@rangerp, are you a KJV only type…KJV is not without error…most do have error but they do not detract from the central theme.

I do agree with you that it rains on the just and unjust alike, and who are we to say what God is doing to reshape the globe. God is not a respecter of man.

If you are a KJV only type then you set yourself outside the pale of orthodox belief…It can only be this bible and no other bible causes problems as KJV only people are now judging others by the Bible that they read…and none of the Bibles detract from the word of God, just minor errors,…do you not see that? Are you that critical? About as bad as Pat R saying it is God’s judgement…

I have a massive library of various bibles and books on the errors of all of the bibles. I read scripture from several sources and if confusing I go to the book that discusses the supposed error and still find it does not detract from the central Gospel message.

We are being battered from all sides by those l4% who are non-believers to remove all signs of God in public and private our schools, in front of our Churches and public buildings. Don’t ever give in to this. This country is still ruled by Law and majority 86% who are believers. We need to be more vocal and support those who are protecting our freedom.

Would be kinda dumb to not to ponder the question.

My personal opinion on his question is no I don’t think so. I haven’t even seen the reports that it was cracked (not saying it’s not…just haven’t seen the reports, last i heard is someone said it was leaning but that was unconfirmed)…..and how big is the crack? Is the monument in such great disrepair that it could tumble and fall if the correct measures are not taken to fix it……..If so i would say then that, yeah that could be a sign…..Thar would depict the current state of America perfectly….

God, and Pat Robertson, are two different entities, though Robertson often claims to speak for God. As far as I’m concerned, my judgement is as good as Pat’s is on that score. I’m perfectly willing to be corrected by God when my time comes, even if I’m a bit more hesitant to interpret God for the masses. Yep! They made fun of Noah for years, because he heard the word of God and everyone though he was a weird fellow, until the waters started rising. Maybe not every sign is a sign from God, but who does it really hurt?
I look into the sky and see a miracle God made, look at the sunset and see God’s hand, look at a newborn baby and see another miracle that comes from God. I see all things as being from God, and there are good things for for reasons known only to HIM, there are bad things to chastise.

No way could I condemn Pat Robertson for his beliefs. Perhaps he could keep more to himself, but as I read this article, he said “Don’t get weird about it, just take it for what it’s worth” and that doesn’t sound much like a prediction to me, just a thought like we are have and wonder about. Before you continue to condemn him, remember he is a serious man of God, and we all make mistakes in some of our judgements. I know I do, but I ask God to forgive me for my sins, and they are many.

This is meant for TREKSON, Absolutely WRONG, you say any, ANY version will do. It is then obvious to me, (and any other student of Holy Script), that you haven‘t a clue of Satan’s devices and his “War Tactics”. Genesis 3 verse 1 “Yea hath God said” ? Do you TREKSON, have any idea what we have here in the 1rst verse of Genesis 3 ? NO, you do not understand the magnitude of the very first question found in Holy Scripture ! I’ll give you a hint, its still working today and doing the work that Satan intended for it to do !! Understand this Trekson, there are presently in our English, some 248 translations (versions ?) of the Bible, the question I have for you, actually 2 questions ! First of all, why do we need 248, and how many more should we print? Secondly, what do you suppose they accomplish and who for, and why ? Trekson, The Bible (KJV authorized ) teaches that God is NOT The author of confusion, and that is EXACTLY what 248 + version are bringing in the church house, in the home, at Bible Studies, in the minds of those who might be seeking to know God ! Also, I have seen Church splits, men walking out of bible studies, arguments arise, families divided, folks walk away from God because of these things. Tell me Trekson, who is it that would take delight in just things, God, no, Satan, who is the divider, the deceiver, the “father of all lies”, the destroyer, the wolf who scatters the sheep from the sheep fold. The KJV of Holy Script is the ONLY inerrant pure Word

The religious wackiness is what turns off independents to a lot of the conservative message… my dad said he wouldn’t vote for Perry because it makes him nervous to have such a religious person in charge… I think it would be better to keep one’s religion private.

Talk about whacky! I think I would vote for a “whacky Christian”, such as you call Perry, any day over a Marxist communist who is hell bent on bringing this country down. As an atheist, I would run to the polls to vote for Perry over Obama, or anyone else the progressives put up there.

God loves you Rob. He loves you so much He sent Christ to die on the cross for you so that you could have eternal life with Him. All you have to do is accept that. The reason Christians cannot keep that news to themselves is they are already saved but are commissioned by Jesus Himself to show you how you can also be saved. You are obviously not saved, you do not know Christ as your Lord and Savior. This is obvious through both your original post and your rude response to me. I pray that someday you will find him.

“Pat Robertson: Is Crack In Washington Monument A “Sign Of The Lord”?”

Clearly, the Wash Monument isn‘t the only thing that’s CRACKED.

I think I’ve found out the “secret” to roberson’s God-messages. On New Years day a friend (who happens to be a gay, lunatic-left d-cRAT socialist ILLEGAL immigrant) tricked me into smoking a huge doobie – and as soon as I finished it, GOD spoke to me also. HE said that robertson is a publicity-who’re who will do and say anything to attract attention to get donation$. I also think HE said something about roberston eventually burning in hell, but since I’m not use to this common lunatic-left addiction, I passed out before HE finished.

Many will ignore the signs and mock or persecute the believers until the day of the lord comes like a thief in the night, and then none-believers, persecutors, and the people who denied or turned away from God will be left behind. Where you end-up is between you and God. The believers see the signs, the questioners see but don’t necessarily want to believe but know something is going on. The non-believers or people who just don‘t want any part of God can’t see.

      10) Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11) or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

      Deuteronomy 18:10-11

Robertson is interpreting an omen. If God wishes to be heard, He will be heard. He doesn’t need Pat Robertson to interpret His every drop of rain.

Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and all other natural disasters have been going on for millions – perhaps billions – of years; LONG before man and his ideas of God came along to use these things as a “sign” if His (hers, its) displeasure.

You do know what the ‘700’ in ‘700 Club’ is, don’t you? When you give their friendly staff an aggregate amount of $700, you become a member of the 700 Club. The $700 Club, as it is. Clearly, anyone capable of making a career out of gloating about relieving needy souls of $700 each has a hot-line to the Creator of all things created, be they galaxies, or the distance between them, or sub-atomic matter and the distance between that! I mean, isn’t it obvious that Pat Robertson can call the shots of the Almighty, like Babe Ruth with a ****** in a gin mill (”It appears that it is my destiny to be drunk and laid, sayeth me, The Babe.”). But all funny aside, The Washington Monument is listing, the spires broke off, or are breaking off the National Cathedral, and the MLK memorial is being made by the Chinese, and looks like more like Mao than Martin. (”Free at rast, free at rast, Frank/Dodd Armighty, I’m free of cash.”). You don’t have to pay me $700 to join my club for me to tell you that it‘s about to rain and you should google ’Ark Blueprints’. Pat is a goofy, silly, rich huckster, but this is low-hanging fruit. Someone get the jelly, ‘cuz I think we are about to be toast.

Sorry for the above post…fat fingers.
Pedelady – if these are messages to Obama, why are they all affecting red states in the worst ways. Irene will first hit the US in the Carolinas and move into Virginia before decreasing in strength and really just being a wind storm by the time it hits Martha’s Vineyard. The earthquake was centered in Virginia. Droughts in Texas. Floods in the Dakotas. Joplin tornado (more a purple state).
You may have to reset your standards for how God communicates with Obama.
